What do you like best about OpenText AccuRev?

What problems is OpenText AccuRev solving and how is that benefiting you?

We used micro focus accurev for our code migration from one environment to another as a version controlled, safe environment. Its a good repository maintanence tool and easy to promote or checkin the code and make changes.

What do you like best about OpenText AccuRev?

Works on multiple platforms, Windows, Linux, CentOS. Users can have workspaces on several development machines at the same time. Non-changeable, immutable data store, perfect for compliance requirements ISO and similar. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OpenText AccuRev?

Perl script for changes to system parameters. If you do not have an in-house Perl Script staff member, it is a real process to work with AccuRev to make simple changes in the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

For best functionality be sure to have a Perl script team member on-staff. Train users well at inception for best results. Be sure to layout stream paths and names in advance, this is by nature a non-changeable system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OpenText AccuRev solving and how is that benefiting you?

Software change management, excellent for keeping version control up to date, easy to use interface for many different developers. Fairly easy to move workspaces from one machine to another, which is helpful for developers that frequently upgrade machines/equipment (testing and development environments). What do you like best about OpenText AccuRev?

Accurev does a great job and keeping track of changes, allowing you to keep, and revert easily. Overall, just an easy way to track changes, and maintain versions of your business code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OpenText AccuRev?

I really do not like the interface, maybe that is the best that can be done, but it seems clunky, and often the wording on the options is confusing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I would look at free or less expensive solution like Git, but if you want a full featured tool that allows you to write your own plugins, then accurev is a pretty good choice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We needed a code repository that allowed you to write your own plugins. We found that in accurev. The main benefit is just keeping track of allow the changes taking place with our small development team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"iOS of Revision Control"

What do you like best about OpenText AccuRev?

The ease of using Accurev. I have used SVN and Accurev and feel that for most of the tasks Accurev is simple to use without much learning curve. Espicially for revision control going between version and updating the work space, Merging code is very simple on Accurev.

One of the most convenient features of Accurev is creating new branches from a main branch.

The other feature, I like the most is the visual representation of all the code branches showing where each branch has originated from. This gives a very good idea of relationship between different branches. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OpenText AccuRev?

Just iOS (of smartphones), the 'not so commonly used' operations are difficult to access. For example, Blame of SVN (that shows revision number and author of each line) is done better than that in Accurev.

While browsing all the branches and searching for branches, I feel that Accurev is littler slower. This is not to say its competition SVN is faster. I just feel that Accurev could step up the game by speeding up browsing different code branches. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OpenText AccuRev solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Accurev for Revision control of Firmware. Maintaining the code and populating multiple branches was made very easy by Accurev. Also, building the code on different branches each with its own specific requirements is way easier.

Also, bringing up new hires to use Accurev takes very small learning curve. Enabling us to train and bring new hires up to speed very quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about OpenText AccuRev?

It works well enough for version control to store old versions, review differences between versions, and promote files when they're ready for the next level.

The command line interface is powerful and makes it easy to script and automate tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OpenText AccuRev?

It's different from other version control systems with different terminologies, so there is a steep learning curve for new users.

It's fairly slow to do a lot of things, sometimes several minutes. When I am updating a workspace I usually switch to another program and switch back later so I don't have to wait. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
