The UI is excellent even though technically is it a (S)FTP server. Auditing is fully developed and it integrates with Entra nicely. Of course there was a major security issue a few years back but it was solved quickly and our company wasn't affected in the end as far as we know of course. One downside of Progress MOVEit is the learning curve, especially for new users and during initial setup or upgrades. The administration and automation capabilities are strong, but the UI and configuration options can feel complicated at first and often require experienced administrators to manage them effectively.

Upgrades can also introduce behavior changes or require updates to jobs, scripts, or configurations, so careful testing is needed before moving anything into production. In addition, troubleshooting more complex workflows may mean digging through logs, which can be time-consuming if you don’t have deep familiarity with the platform. What I like about MoveIT Automation is its versatility and its simplicity. Whether you're managing file transfers between servers, synchronising data between systems, or scheduling routine tasks, this platform provides a flexible and customizable solution. Its drag-and-drop interface makes it easy to create and modify workflows, allowing me to tailor automation processes to my needs without extensive programming knowledge. The web user interface is easy to navigate and provides a very gentle learning curve for new users. The supporting documentation is generally excellent, and the community seem very responsive. We use the MOVEit extensively on our own servers and to connect to third parties. Performance is very rarely an issue. There have been a number of security scares over the years. Sometimes more complicated file transfer processes are difficult to create due to slightly odd choices about what can and can't be done with "macros". Connections with some host types have limited options, not always making it easy to secure the connections in the way we'd prefer. I'm also not a fan of using commas rather than semi-colons to separate email addresses. With continued usage, what I’ve come to appreciate most about Progress MOVEit is its reliability—once workflows are set, things run smoothly without constant monitoring.
