"Reliable, Scalable, and Essential: Over 15 Years of Success with Mirth Connect"
What do you like best about Mirth Connect?

What I like best about Mirth Connect is its flexibility, reliability, and comprehensive support for healthcare interoperability standards. We have been working with Mirth Connect on a daily basis for over 15 years, and it continues to be a key pillar of our integration and interoperability projects.

One of the most helpful aspects is the ease and speed of implementation and integration, which significantly reduces time-to-production. Thanks to its intuitive channel-based architecture and powerful built-in tools, we can develop, test, and deploy new interfaces in a very agile and efficient way — a critical factor in healthcare environments where timelines are often tight.

Other key upsides include:

Strong support for healthcare-specific protocols and standards such as HL7 v2, FHIR, CDA, and more.

A versatile scripting engine that allows for customization at any stage of the message workflow.

Scalability – Mirth performs equally well in small-scale and large-scale deployments.

Excellent documentation and community, complemented by strong commercial support from NextGen.

The GUI-based development environment accelerates onboarding and simplifies maintenance.

In summary, Mirth Connect is not just a tool for us – it is an integral part of our daily operations and a cornerstone of our healthcare interoperability strategy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mirth Connect?

While our overall experience with Mirth Connect has been overwhelmingly positive, there are a few areas where we see room for improvement:

Version upgrades can require careful planning, especially in complex environments. While stability is generally excellent, some changes between versions may introduce breaking changes or require revalidation of existing channels.

The user interface, although functional and familiar, could benefit from some modernization in terms of usability and visual design, especially for teams used to more contemporary development tools.

That said, these are relatively minor concerns in the context of the platform’s overall strengths. Mirth Connect remains one of the most solid, versatile, and trusted tools in our interoperability toolkit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
