  ### 2. One of My Favorite Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Whiteboard is so flexible I can use it across all of my classes, both live and asynchronously. It gives me the ability to illustrate concepts, add documents, add images, and even create post-it notes on the board.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

I could use some more pen options and maybe a recording feature within the whiteboard.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I teach classes both in person and asynchronously, and Whiteboard works well for both. In person, I can use my Surface to project the Whiteboard, enabling me to be present all around the classroom instead of having my back to my students. Asynchronously, it enables me to mimic the classroom experience for online students and provide lecture material they would receive in the classroom.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nuthigattu K. | Senior Executive, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Microsoft Whiteboard is a great tool to make simplified notes and share among teammates and colleagues; we can use it as a learning base, share content, write and discuss among teams across the places, and sync in real-time to keep updated about recent events happenings inside the organization.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

When two or more people are writing or sharing the content simultaneously over a whiteboard, one can see only one piece of data at a time; there can be an option to view minimized tabs of all the notes the user can select an account to view. An additional step can be avoided whenever we need to go to the main page and toggle.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use the whiteboard during our internal and external calls within teams to make notes and share with the other groups.
The whiteboard is accessible and very collaborative; it helps us to keep the other team updated with the help is notes and reminders made on the task and project updates.

  ### 8. Review for Microsoft Whiteboard

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

This whiteboard gives an excellent feature which is that it can be used by multiple users simultaneously and it integrates with all Microsoft 365 apps like Teams, OneNote, Sharepoint and it can be easily shared with the peers. It also has infinte canvas where we can zoom in and out. It also have previously built-in templates which can be used for project planning or education also.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Sometimes it lags when we uses digital ink and the file which can be exported from Whiteboard is in specific format only where it does not offer specialized design or drawing software.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I collaborate with my students using Whiteboard to teach educative concepts and it can be easily shared and used by multiple users simultaneously hence it is more generalizable tool and I also do connect with tools like Microsoft Teams and Sharepoint to share my whiteboard in live call or meeting.

  ### 9. To brainstorm during virtual meetings, whiteboard is plus+

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Neha B. | Product Manager, Consumer Goods, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Launching a whiteboard during team meetings is straightforward for everyone to enter their thoughts or ideas on a single board/page. Multiple options for entering stickies, changing colors, and drawing diagrams are provided. The best feature is that we can enter thoughts anonymously without revealing our identity.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

When two users are working or editing at the same time, one text goes to one corner, and the other one goes into another corner; thus, it makes the users come to the main page or zoom out a see what the other is writing; there can be a system, to track what others are writing more effectively.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps a lot in brainstorming or idea-sourcing sessions at the team level.
During the project design phase or architecture discussions.
We have used a whiteboard to run fun events as well.

  ### 10. Fantastic tool to bring team's idea on a digital board/canvas.

**Reviewed by:** Ashutosh V. | Assoc. Data Science Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

The best part about using Microsoft Whiteboard is the ability of multiple users to make suggestions in one place. The templates, the sticky notes and the comments make collaboration much more accessible and fun. I also like the reacting and voting features.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Although Microsoft Whiteboard is a great place to collaborate with our team sometimes there is a glitch when multiple users are using it and the text goes a little haphazardly in different directions. Options are limited hence making it not as useful as its counterparts.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The most significant help Microsoft Whiteboard provides is better collaboration while being in a team meeting. It helps bring quick ideas to on board for all the team members.

Microsoft Whiteboard has very limited features in terms of just posting a message or link or video which could even be done in a group chat on any messaging application. It has no unique features specific to this application only.

Microsoft Whiteboard allows us to share the link to my group and white our thoughts or post common links or videos onto one whiteboard per group for a project presentation or demo.

Sometimes it has some inconsistencies with the Snap to Shape feature which I use quite a bit.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sketching a higher level concept, or to paint a quick picture that's easily sharable and adjustable has been a challenge.

This is much better, now, especially its inclusion with Teams.

  ### 18. Gets the job done

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Working with some people in the office and others remote makes it difficult to collaborate, be innovative and get to truly successful business outcomes. Whiteboard is at least one tool out there that helps bridge the gap between previous experiences we had all together in the office with the new hybrid way of working.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Compared to other virtual collaboration tools, Whiteboard is a little too simple. There are some features I'd like to see, like better design and graphic options, presentation modes, etc. that you get with other tools (example: Mural).

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Whiteboard:**

Great tool to get started with and leverage when you need to spin something up quick. If you and your team need a more robust collaboration tool, there may be other options to explore.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With whiteboard, we are able to quickly spin up a shared space for participants to share ideas all at once. In a previous world, a large conference room would allow multiple conversations and ideas to be discussed at once. With new meetings, everyone hears every word spoken, so we need new ways to accommodate 20 people in a meeting. Whiteboard is one of those ways.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

There can be a few more options that can be added to the software to make it more appealing. For example, the possibility of adding the templates will help the users choose which template to work on and will save them the hassle of creating the designs from scratch.

One of the best choices if you are looking for a software that is easy to use, simple, and small in size, to help you with creating tasks, illustrations, pointers, and markers for the presentations.

I like that the application is easy to use. I can really feel a sense of comfort when I am using this. I love that I can collaborate with my peers through Microsft 365. I think that is super important in the world now, being able to collaborate without being in the same room with someone.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

I wish that the app was part of Microsoft 365, but that is okay. Sometimes it can be difficult to sign in. When I have a difficult time signing in, the support line can be a little tricky getting in to.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to collaborate with my peers and solve problems together. Being able to work out problems physically and get feedback is super awesome. This has helped my business increase trememdously.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adolf F. | Procurement Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Using Microsoft whiteboard I have come to rely so much on the way the application easily integrates with Microsoft teams and Microsoft cloud storage applications like One Drive for Business whereby I have access to all my saved files.
The upside of using Microsoft Whiteboard also is that it has a stop and resume feature for sessions and it allows me to save my sessions and continue exactly from where I left off which is very handy.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Time and again I see delays between the moment I use the pen and the object that I would have drawn which can be annoying.
It requires users to sign in using microsoft accounts only.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Whiteboard:**

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

For me, my favourite is the object snapping feature which allows me to align my content perfectly using visual cues and the result comes out exactly as intended. It is a very intuitive feature that saves a lot of users' time spent trying to align objects on the board.
It is very easy to deploy and the setup is very simple hence it is very easy to use.
It has a Microsoft Teams meetings integration capability which I usually use to collaborate with my collegues to sketch ideas and write using the same canvas.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Whiteboard for the web is currently incompatible with Internet Explorer which is a downside because it leaves a few browser choices for every user which leaves room for compatibility issues.
The whiteboard requires Microsoft accounts only which eliminates the idea of flexibility when using this product.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Whiteboard:**

I would recommend anyone considering this product to go ahead a get the product because of how great the features of this product are and how much professionalism it adds to meetings.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using Microsoft whiteboard has helped to promote remote collaboration in my organisation by providing the same platform for every user to be able to participate from different locations.

  ### 28. A great replacement for SmartBoard software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael K. | German Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Microsoft Whiteboard is a great solution for those who have been utilizing Whiteboard software for SmartBoards that are no longer in service. I can use many more colors of pens, and it is relatively easy to use. Students also enjoy using it. It is engaging for students to motivate the students to learn in the classroom. It contains more than just pens, but you can also put up sticky notes and other pictures

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Whiteboard is only available for Windows 10 and higher. It would be nice if they had support for Windows 7 or Windows 8 (unless you are using Microsoft Teams). Other than that, there is not much to dislike because it is a lot better than what we have been using already.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Whiteboard:**

Those who are considering using Microsoft Whiteboard should know that it works on all devices with touch capability. This means that touch laptops and Promethean boards (or other large screen touch devices) can support it. Those that use Teams can expect total integration. Devices that aren't running Windows 7 and 8 have the opportunity to run Whiteboard in that way.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am utilizing Whiteboard in my classroom so that students can take notes, take part in engaging activities, and more. Since the old SmartBoard software is being phased out, it is a reliable program that I and my students have enjoyed using in the classroom. For example, as a class, we create mind maps and make lists. During a lesson, charts are sometimes helpful for students to visualize what is being learned in class.

  ### 30. the desktop version is delightful, other versions need more work

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tomo S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2020

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Whiteboard is pretty useful if you are already using other Microsoft products like Microsoft Teams and OneNote because of the integration across these different products. It's also "free" in that it comes with your subscription to Microsoft 365 unlike similar whiteboarding tools like Mural and Miro (you need to be a paying member for these platforms). At least the desktop app version offers a lot of functions that these other apps provide, like postits, drawing, inserting images, etc. What's also cool is the magic wand.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Some functions that are available on platforms like Miro and Mural are not available - you can't adjust the size of sticky notes, you can't insert things like icons easily, you can't insert frames and create templates... the list goes on. If you want to do advanced whiteboarding, Whiteboard comes short

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Whiteboard:**

Think about your organization's needs for whiteboarding - if it's going to be just for basic things (inserting texts, putting stickies etc) you probably don't need Miro or Mural. You can just do fine with Whiteboard

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

whiteboarding, brainstorming, ideating, analyzing qualitative data - these are all "problems" that Microsoft Whiteboard can help solve

  ### 31. Which make help to create new thing in meeting

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dylan H. | Licensee, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

you can all have the whiteboard on your device and draw at the same time. Plus you can save it without having to take a photo of a real board

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

It would be good to have a large range of tools to draw/type with but its sufficient for what we use

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No lost whiteboard drawings and plans after meetings finish, better meeting collaboration

  ### 33. Nice for quick collaboration space.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Quick space for real time collaboration. Great color choices.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

It takes forever to load! It froze often as well. There were no names attached to the work so it was hard to tell who was contributing to what. And the colors aren't a one-time use with the markers on whiteboard. So it was even hard to distinguish by who was using each color.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not problems are solved. Its a nice additional tool. The students enjoyed using it once it loaded.

  ### 34. really innovative, perfect for creative people

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

It has some cool and innovative features. For instance, it can turn your hand-written notes into ink immediately if you upload an image of your notes. It can correct your messy hand-writing. You can search Bing for creative commons images and upload them on your whiteboard.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

It's not necessarily optimized for all devices. It works best on Windows PCs, especially optimized the best for Surface devices. It doesn't work that well on Mac OS, it has an iOS version but it doesn't work that well. It has a lot of really cool features, but there's not that much onboarding so I'd definitely watch some tutorials online to learn about all that Whiteboard can do. There are a lot of good videos on YouTube

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Whiteboard:**

Definitely worth a shot. Especially since it's integratable with Teams, it would be really cool to brainstorm with colleagues and friends and draw together and be creative together. Especially in the current Covid-19 moment, an app like this is needed!

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

brainstorming, jotting ideas, visualizing thoughts with drawings and pictures, mixing different mediums (photos, words, drawings)

This a very low investment application which allows a significant collaboration benefits resulting in good ROI.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

The service does not support multi-geo or data residency standards. The data is only hosted in US data centres, therefore, some organisations may face compliance issue with GDPR etc. This app also currently limited while embedding content from external sources. DLP/Data loss prevention and content search for e-discovery are not currently available.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Whiteboard:**

Just give it a go and you will love it! If you are already using Windows 10, Azure AD and Office 365 then this is a must-have app which would allow a good value realisation from your investment.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Digital collaborative whiteboarding from multiple locations is a need of the day for many organisation and the same as ours, Microsoft Whiteboard meets that objective brilliantly! We can now collaborate from any device from any location as long it is internet-connected. People could join a meeting and collaborate on the same dashboard from touch and non-touch devices flawlessly. Being able to remove the paper-based whiteboards makes the meeting rooms and collaboration space look nicer!

**Reviewed by:** Teresa B. | Realtor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

I use Whiteboard almost every day. It helps me organize thoughts and planning for projects. I have multiple boards for multiple projects. I can brainstorm about a project and then organize the thoughts into tasks. I can paste pictures to illustrate what I would like to accomplish. I can also write with the stylus like a notebook, using many colors to organize thoughts. It has many colored pens with different thicknesses, an eraser, lasso tool and a ruler. It has many tools to put to paper whatever I can imagine.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

I would like to see a checklist feature so that I can check off the tasks and I complete them.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marissa R. | Associate Director of Chapter Services, Non-Profit Organization Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

My favorite feature is the ability to collaborate with others. You can add someone to your whiteboard to view and/or edit along with you. Additionally, I am a fan of the customization. As someone who is particular about their handwriting and formatting, I appreciate the ruler and other tools.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

The inability to organize my whiteboards has been the most apparent dislike of mine. Although they are listed in chronological order, it would be helpful if whiteboards could be organized in folders or other groupings for easy access if the creation date is not fresh in your mind.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Whiteboard:**

Whiteboard is especially wonderful for users with a touchscreen device - Microsoft Surface, iPad, etc.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaboration is a big one. The department I lead often collaborates with communications and design - Whiteboard allows content to come to life in the form of a magazine or e-newsletter... with ease!!

  ### 40. Create tool for collaborating and sharing ideas

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Love how easy it is to use and add different mediums to one area. Allows full creativity and for those ideas to be easily seen and worked on by different members at the same time no matter where they are.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

Sometimes it crashes and there is no help line or description for working your way around the app. It’s something you have to figure out as you go,

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Whiteboard:**

Make sure to save projects as you go frequently so that if it crash’s everything isn’t lost.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s great for brainstorming on the go and allowing ideas to flow freely without worrying about how to make it all come to life in one page because so many different tools are assessable.

  ### 41. Pretty good app

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

It’s pretty easy to use and share but very simple and bare as far as the app goes as a whole.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

It’s too plain. It’s not that easy to go between projects and/or your account. And it’s definitely not my favorite to use.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s an easy and open concept which makes it easy to quickly jot or sketch down ideas but it’s not very creative and doesn’t have many options.

  ### 42. Great Collaboration

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Individual & Family Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

It has different backgrounds to work from. I can use grid paper or notebook paper as a background when I work with students. The use of different colors for pen use is great also.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Whiteboard?**

I wish there were more adaptive options, such as inserting a video on a sheet or showing two papers side by side in one workspace.

**What problems is Microsoft Whiteboard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't have to drag around a dry erase board with a color marker pack or bring a mini chalk board with me. I don't have intentionally write in large font, I can simply enlarge what I am doing with two fingers. Bringing less with me is key when I have to students in multiple locations.
