This makes transitioning a lot easier. The editor has all the various features you would expect from a decent editor and also provides the ability to use Sublime text 3 packages - Again this helps with migrating, you can use the same modules you currently rely on. The other great features are CLI access, QML, multi-platform and Opensource (you can modify the editor to suit your own requirements if you are competent in GO). **What do you dislike about Lime Text?** The only negative is that the software is provided as source-code only, you need to build the software from this which requires a little more knowledge and also other software to compile. This would be greatly improved and pickup more traction if builds were also released for the most popular platforms. **Recommendations to others considering Lime Text:** If you are looking for a great text editor that you can customise then look no further. **What problems is Lime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?** Lime text is a great tool and replacement for Sublime Text. Although Sublime is a great piece of software and rich in features, it is fundamentally shareware - a commercial application that you need to purchase to use to its full potential. Lime Text is an Opensource replacement which mitigates the licensing fees, giving you the freedom to modify the source code to fit your requirements. ### 3. Hence the problem of bugs and crashes are handled better in Lime Text and active open source community makes it much better. In addition, there is continuous improvement in terms of performance, design and usability. Is compatible with many programming languages, it is a very versatile software in this aspect. The plugins that are currently available make it much easier to write the code for the various tools they bring. It works great to write code, it is undoubted. **What do you dislike about Lime Text?** The project is progressing very slowly, I think the community interested in Lime Text is very little. There are people who are continually making improvements, but they are not enough. There has not been a good job making this software known outside a very specific niche. There are some errors in the operation of the application: it stays frozen or the interface flips for a few seconds, it is very strange. I don't know if it's something from my PC, but nothing similar has ever happened to me with any other software. Maybe it's some compatibility. Is not a stable software yet. Is very complicated to install. For new developers I think it is an almost impossible task. This causes interest to decrease further. **Recommendations to others considering Lime Text:** Lime Text is not yet a software that can be used without problems. If someone wants to contribute to development, it is welcome. The problems are very clear, it's not open source, there is really just one guy in charge of developing Sublime-Text! So LimeText being open source will handle this problem. The community will be able to contribute and speed up the development of plugins much quicker. The best part about LimeText(if you actually get it working), it that it's fast! Today it's main contender is the Atom editor, which in itself is probably the best. But it is relatively slow since it's build using web technology. The backend of LimeText uses the Go programming language. It's much faster, which is the main reason people love SublimeText **What do you dislike about Lime Text?** So far the progress of this project has been very slow. I don't think people are so excited about it and although I think it will be stable at some point, don't expect it to be any time soon. **Recommendations to others considering Lime Text:** If you are still using Sublime Text 3 and Love the product, I would suggest to go to Github and star LimeText. In the future you will be able to do everything you can with SublimeText, but you will get faster updates and it will be free :D . As of today, if you're a working developer, I would just consider you try and play around with it, but that's as far as I'll go. **What problems is Lime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?** The main goal of my text editor is to be able to just get on my computer and instantly be able to make edits to my source files. Be it log files or just quick PHP files. LimeText surely has the speed needed for this. ### 17. As for Go developers, this is a must-know text editor to use and contribute. The UI still needs to polish but the back-end is almost robust. Lime text is an extremely extensible editor, and as such, its feature set doesn't stay constrained to just "what comes in the box."
