And AMD GPUs in general, which I prefer to nvidia GPUs because of the better value in terms of performance per cost. The interface is straightforward and intuitive. Most operations have visual controls and indicators and you can just drag and drop model files into the viewport and it will automatically import them. The software copes very well with my 3D pipeline. It is able to import very large .OBJ files which are derived from my CAD modelling. I use the software to render my CAD designs by exporting very high polygon count .obj or .fbx models of my CAD designs and importing these into LightTracer. It also supports importing CAD models directly, natively. It has a nice library of free materials built in and quickly and easily downloadable and applicable with no extra cost. The performance is quite good, even on GPUs without very good hardware ray tracing performance. I've used this software for years with a pretty weak GPU before my current setup. I also like the perpetual license model which is provided with Light Tracer as I like to actually own the software I use rather than pay for it as a service. The price is quite fair, especially for the perpetual license. The developers are helpful and responsive to questions and feature requests, through their Discord server, and have routinely implemented features previously requested by users. The software is under continuous development. It supports a large number of polygon mesh 3D formats and files. Such as GLB, FBX, OBJ, STL and many others. And it is also able to import actual native CAD models and conver them to polygon meshes internally, upon import. It has an AI denoiser for users without nVidia GPUs but can also use proprietary nVidia denoisers as well. It's Vulkan based so it's hardware vendor agnostic. It's the only tool of its type which I am able to use with the hardware and other software available and affordable to me. I use it alongside Autodesk 123D Design, Moment of Inspiration 3D, freeCAD, CAD Exchanger and Unreal Engine's Datasmith tool. **What do you dislike about Light Tracer Render?** I mostly don't like that it lacks some high end features I'd like to see. For example, it doesn't have prebuilt, bundled detailed 3D environments which are complex and interesting. You need to provide your own complex background if you want an actual 3D scene as backdrop or background or environment for your object renders, rather than just the HDRi map and the basic model stands which are included with the renderer. There's also small touchups to the interface which are still needed. For example, the mirror modifier does not provide any indication of the location and orientation of the mirroring plane. Nor does it provide a preview of what the mesh will look like after it will have been mirrored. **What problems is Light Tracer Render solving and how is that benefiting you?** Light Tracer Render allows me to generate good looking renders of my CAD models and abstract art designs made with CAD software. It copes very well with the very high polygon count 3D meshes generated or derived from my CAD models and also with the lack of UV coordinates of these, as they are not UV unwrapped. It provides its own UV unwrapping and object or mesh texture size, scale and orientation tweaking controls. ### 2. Not nodes sht or complications, just open your 3D model, assign materials, lights, camera and action! It easily beats the corporate greed of KeyShot with an all-in-one application. HDRI environment edition, animation (still basic but improving) and a very accurate natural light interpretation. It is perfect for product visualization. Since it is GPU based, the rendering speed is fast and the developers have improved it recently. I use it in two different computers, one has an Nvidia A3000 and the renderings are very fast. My other computer has an Nvidia 3090 and the renderings are almost instant. Videos are also fast and easy to set and control. I can open Rhino files and SolidWorks assemblies directly in the application, no need of converters, integrators or other middle-mad software. Another part that I love of LT is that the developers are close to the users, they listen to recommendations, feature requests and are quick to troubleshoot any issue. Good luck finding that with KeyShot. **What do you dislike about Light Tracer Render?** The only negative point right now is that LTR still doesn't have SSS nor displacement, which are standard features for any modern render engine. However, I'm confident that the developers will add these features soon. Having software like LTR that delivers realistic visualizations with an easy-to-use UI makes this process quick and effortless. ### 5.
