It’s incredibly simple to use and the setup is lightning fast — we were able to get the whole system running in less than a day. Integration with our existing workflow was seamless, and the ability to collect shop floor time directly from the operators has made managing operations a lot easier. The interface is clean and intuitive, so even non-technical staff were comfortable after just a short introduction. I also appreciate how lightweight it is — it gives you what you need without all the clutter of big enterprise systems. We like that it's not a rigid type of system. For other MRP, you can't even supress a product or a recipe if you have once manufactured it. Same with the flexibility to add or remove opration, add or remove materiel for a workorder. **What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?** There are still a few things that could be improved. It would be nice to have the option to set a maximum output per resource or machine to help with more accurate capacity planning. One of the most difficult thing to do in our business is to set the delivery date four or orders. This feature could be a game changer for us. The time collection feature works well overall, but I wish the system allowed you to see notes and punches for individual employees instead of just a total summary — that would make traceability a lot clearer. **What problems is Katana Cloud Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?** Katana has honestly made our life so much easier. We are used to other rigid MRPs, but in Katana, everything’s connected: materials, orders, production… all updating in real time. You have the ability to modify orders and manufacturing orders on the fly without interuptiong the manufacturing process. What I love most is how fast our team picked it up. Everyone was comfortable using it within few minutes. Our supply chain and purchasing process also move way faster now — it really keeps things flowing. The shop floor app is really simple to use for our operations, task completion, time tracking etc... I came from tracking everything in spreadsheets so the features have been great and I find it pretty intuitive to use. Love being able to track serial numbers and batches to know exactly what my customers are receiving and to have peace of mind in the event of a recall. Having API access allowed my team to build custom integrations. Customer service has been extremely attentive any time I've had an issue. Response times are usually in a matter of minutes, not hours. **What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?** Some features are released before they are fully working. There are some limitations on serial tracking, for example, you cannot include serialized items in a bundle. Not for historical order management! The integration with quickbooks is easy to setup and works well. The system pricing is competitive and a 3rd party consultant was not required for implementation. Customer support is good, and the Katana product team is actively engaging customers to improve the system. **What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?** Katana could improve it's usability, specifically as it relates to traceability. It would be helpful if it could assign unique internal part numbering scheme automatically. It would also be helpful if some data fields could be made immutable, specifically sales and manufacturing order numbers. It would also say that SN and lot number traceability could be significantly improved. Being only able to use a SN on a "finished" product is limiting. We often receive materials already serialized and with the current system we have we can't use that for treacability. Lastly it would helpful it some standard analytics like First pass yield and total yield would be available under the insights tab. It is the backbone for our business and we use it every day across 5-6 different personnel. It was relatively easy to get up and running which is great. Allows us to reference records which we were either doing manually or offline beforehand (e.g. printing out paper forms). Has basic functionality for insights and analysis for planning and forecasting that is better than what we did before (nonexistent). Helpful that is also integrates natively into Shopify and Quickbooks online. Customer support is good in that they listen, but they haven't really solved or addressed many of our problems and requirements. **What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?** Some parts are frustratingly difficult to use. Print templates are almost impossible to customize, and they make our business look less professional than we would like. There is also no project management functionality. We have to export all our SOs and POs to Asana (via a zapier integration that is always breaking, that we have to build/maintain ourselves), in order to have an internal dialogue about SO and PO statuses. It would be so much better if Katana built this into their solution. The basic analytics are really just basic - again we have to export all our orders to gain insight into our "on-time fulfillment rate," even though all that data is inside Katana. And although Katana allows us to use batches, it doesn't actually use that to tell us whether we can fulfill an order, so the feature is only about 50% useful. Also the interface isn't the easiest to use, you constantly have to open new tabs because it never opens a new window. If there is a better platform, we would likely switch to it, but for our size and the cost, I am not sure there is. **What problems is Katana Cloud Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?** Katana helps us digitize our entire manufacturing, inventory, and part of our sales process. Everything can be tracked in the system and shared (with permissions) across departments and personnel. After considering almost all other comparable products on the market (SOS, Fishbowl, Digit, Oodoo, etc.), Katana was the clear winner visualizing "ingredient availability," which is key for our business. **What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?** I wish Katana had a few more features specific to our business. I would like the ability to sum custom fields (weight, for example), the custom forms are difficult to work with and a bit inconsistent, and the I would like the ability to determine material costs from operations costs in the QuickBooks Online integration. I use Katana every day, even when it's not necessary, because it’s as engaging as a fun game like Farmville—manufacturers will understand what I mean! :) Everything about Katana is fantastic—the extensive functionality allows me to manage production at every level. We use Katana for creating production tasks, managing inventory of materials and components, order management, sending orders for packaging, automatically receiving orders from various platforms and our own website, registering orders with courier services through integrations, ordering materials, and automatically determining prices for B2B clients. All our employees work through the Shop Floor app, marking START and FINISH for various tasks, adding additional consumables as needed, reading production instructions, and always knowing what to do and in what order. All data is synchronized, and the costs for each product and component are automatically calculated based on labor costs, material prices, defect rates, and additional expenses such as material delivery, customs duties, or any other supplementary costs. The benefits of Katana could be discussed for days without a break, and the most important thing is that such an extensive functionality is designed so intelligently that using Katana is truly a pleasure! Another huge advantage when we Integrate Katana into our production was the ease of importing virtually any data using CSV or Excel spreadsheets. Additionally, as we continue using the system, we have access to amazing features that simplify our lives, such as the ability to replace one material with another across all products with the click of a button, or automatic conversion of measurement units for material purchasing and usage. For example, we purchase screws in boxes but use them individually, so I always have everything in order both during receiving goods—everything matches the invoices—and in production, including tracking inventory levels. It’s impossible to stop listing all the fantastic features of Katana. If you’d like to discuss this further, I’m always happy to chat, so feel free to reach out to me directly. Another crucial factor is the excellent customer service. The chat with Katana staff is always available, and any question can be answered within minutes. Their service is always very responsive and incredibly helpful! **What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?** I have nothing I dislike about Katana! Of course, there are some small aspects I would like to see improved, such as: The client card does not allow for the addition of a VAT number, which is important for European countries in the B2B sector. The client's email address is only visible when you go into the client card; it would be much more convenient if it, like the phone number, were displayed directly on the sales order page. There is a quick reordering function for sales orders that allows you to move orders up or down the list to change their priority, but this function is not available on the manufacturing order page. This means I have to manually drag an order from 654th place to 1st if it needs to be prioritized urgently. There is no column for additional comments in the sales order table, so I have to open each order individually to see any additional notes. In the sales order page, there is no column to display which products were purchased. I have to go into each item to understand what the client bought. It would be more convenient to see this information right away, at least in the form of the SKU code. In the material cards, there is an option to specify a minimum order quantity, which is incredibly convenient. However, this feature is not available for production orders, and I would like to be able to indicate the minimum acceptable quantity for production items as well. The status of the Manufacturing Order is set to "Blocked." Logically, this should completely hide the task from all employees, with only the Administrator able to see it. Unfortunately, only the name and color of the status change. To ensure that employees do not see the task, I have to remove them from the production tasks, and then re-add them if the task is unblocked later. Overall, I wrote all of this mainly to bring it to the developers' attention. Katana frequently makes improvements, and I’m confident that these changes will be implemented very soon! Additionally, none of these points are critical issues, and we have found alternative ways to work around each of them while continuing to use Katana effectively! **What problems is Katana Cloud Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?** The biggest problems we solved with the help of Katana are: Employees always know what and in what order they need to perform tasks. I can plan production months in advance, freeing up time for other important tasks or rest. All materials are always under control and ordered on time. It can be done using a location, but the standard package only allows 3 locations, and we need them all for actual warehouses. **What problems is Katana Cloud Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Katana, because our shopify stores lack the capability to properly track subcomponents for bundle orders, and give an accurate projection of available inventory based on subcomponents.
