I’d measure between-session engagement by meaningful actions rather than app opens or notification volume. Habit check-ins, completed workouts, messages to the trainer, and responses to coaching prompts say much more about whether the relationship is continuing between sessions. I’d also watch whether engagement survives after the first few weeks, since automated nudges can easily become background noise.
