"Essential Inventory Tool with Integration Hiccups"
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I like that Katana Cloud Inventory syncs between Shopify and our QuickBooks. It's helpful for us because it gives us one place that's the point of truth for our inventory, so we don't have to keep multiple systems updated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

The syncing between QuickBooks doesn't quite work as well as we'd like it to. It would also be great if it could sync between Gusto to better track our labor costs. We do have a pretty manual step where we have to reconcile our payroll with the manufacturing orders that actually came through in that period. Honestly, it was pretty challenging, and I'm glad I have a pretty technical background because there was a lot of uploading spreadsheets and maneuvering the data around to get it how Katana wanted it to be. So it took a few months, but we had an excellent experience with our onboarding adviser. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Glenn Food Company Katana Review"
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I like that all info can be automatically transferred from other platforms so I don't have to do a lot of manual entry and that the platform is easy to learn and understand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I wish it was a little more user friendly in terms of being able to navigate, but mostly the biggest issue I have is when a sales order is packed with inventory from more than one lot/batch number, it doesn't seem to be able to pack that correctly and will get stuck after the first lot is assigned and then get stuck being able to pack all the products. I also wish I could adjust things without having to adjust the inventory period after it's closed. I think an inventory period should be an option and not automatic. "Streamlined Manufacturing, But Needs Better Reporting"
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I appreciate that Katana Cloud Inventory helps us organize, plan, forecast, and achieve operational success. The inventory controls are useful, and the forecasting capabilities help us a lot. I really value the purchase orders and the sales order system, which is very good. The language we created with the SKUs also stands out for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I think they need to have more visibility to our dealers, like providing better one-touch acknowledgments from the sales order screen. Also, better reporting that would allow for more data in different PDFs and things like that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Exceptionally User-Friendly with Outstanding Support"
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

The site is extremely user-friendly, and the customer service is excellent. The onboarding process was smooth and thorough. There are also helpful resources available for any questions you might have. We've been needing a system to help more proactively track inventory and stay ahead of orders and are excited to start working with the Katana team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

Really don't have any complaints so far. We will be using ship station so in the future it would be nice to have an integration there. But for now, we'll be using extensiv. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Daily Inventory Control with Seamless Integrations"
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

Ease of use for daily inventory control. Native integration with a number of our other software and e-commerce platforms. Fantastic implementation customer support experience with Brendan Chalifour our point of contact. Overall Cost is also much lower than our previous softwares. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

Lack of multiple bin locations and clunky stock count processes. We are a franchisor and have annual audits of our entire warehouse and accounting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Andreia Mendes of Katana Cloud Inventory

Hey Marcus,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review - and for the shoutout to Brendan!

It's always a good day when a customer is not only happy with Katana and our team, but also a lot happier than with their previous solutions.

Our team is already working on multiple bin locations, so do keep an eye out for that improvement.

Thanks again for trusting us with that transition!

"Effortless Inventory Management with Room for Improvement"
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I really like the easiness of use that Katana Cloud Inventory offers. It allows us to quickly see what inventory is getting low and prioritize what we are making. The initial setup was also very easy. I give it a 10 out of 10 for recommendation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

It would be nice if a new order came in with products in line for production if it could automatically recognize it and up the number to be made. Also, if it would automatically make sub-assemblies/parts that are needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Andreia Mendes of Katana Cloud Inventory

I like that it is very easy to use and intuitive.

For any issue, immediate support is always available thanks to both chatbot and operator. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

You must be very careful when making changes, there should be a feature that allows you to go back and avoid deletion.

Important information is missing from the customer database, such as payment type, VAT and custom fields for agents or customer classification.

Lack of warehouse grouping by region, not allowing proper planning of product reordering.

Lack of Amazon native integration Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Manufacturing with Reliable Traceability"
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I utilize Katana Cloud Inventory for our entire manufacturing and fulfillment process and find it incredibly effective. I really appreciate how it has enhanced trackability through all stages, from receiving to production to distribution, which is crucial as we work towards specific certifications requiring this level of traceability. Another aspect I adore is how straightforward and easy it is to use, which makes planning, scheduling production, and tracking results much simpler. The software’s ability to integrate effectively, particularly with Shopify, is pivotal for our operations. I'm also in the process of setting up integration with an EDI for retail sales, which I expect will further enhance our efficiency. Moreover, the onboarding process was seamless, thanks to the assistance of our onboarding manager, making the initial setup a breeze. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Our Experience with Katana MRP – Why We Left After 6 Years"
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

The user interface is decent for a web-based MRP Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

We were early adopters of Katana MRP, using it as our primary manufacturing resource planning system for over six years. In the beginning, Katana delivered exactly what we needed - solid functionality, reasonable pricing, and an easy-to-use interface that worked well for a small manufacturer like us with modest sales order volume. Initially, the pricing was fair and manageable. But once Katana began taking on outside investment and aggressively scaling, things started to change.

Over time, they revamped their pricing model multiple times. At first it was tied to relatively simple metrics like number of users, but later it shifted to limits based on sales order line items, then to sales orders and gross merchandise value (GMV). What sounded sophisticated in their marketing quickly became a huge headache for us: as a small shop selling mostly items around $10 each, our high order count, not our actual revenue, automatically bumped us into higher pricing tiers. So we ended up paying almost the same as companies doing $50 million+ in annual sales, despite using a fraction of the features and resources.

We’ve also experienced price changes mid-subscription period without meaningful notice, and being forced into annual negotiations simply to keep our plan. Year after year, it became clear that the company didn’t care about smaller customers anymore: their strategy seems squarely aimed at upmarket customers with big order volume and deep pockets - which pits small manufacturers like us at a disadvantage.

Frankly, the model feels punitive, not proportional. If your business sells a lot of small-ticket orders, you get punished with pricing far beyond the value you actually consume - and that’s simply not sustainable for a real small manufacturer.

In the end, after dealing with repeated increasing costs and painfully going around in circles with account reps who didn't take the time to understand our business, we pulled the plug and took the time and effort to migrate to a different MRP that met all our requirements. It is faster, easier to use, and roughly ¼ of the cost of Katana’s current pricing. That switch has been night and day for our team - not only financially but also operationally. On the plus side, Katana made it easy for us to export our data and we performed the data migration and cut-over to the new system entirely in-house.

Bottom line: Katana may still work for some companies, especially larger, growing SMBs with high-priced items and few orders, but for small manufacturers with many sales orders and modest item prices, their current pricing strategy simply doesn’t make sense anymore. "Streamlined Inventory and Production Planning"
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I appreciate the Bill of Materials feature in Katana Cloud Inventory, which allows us to use the same material for multiple products we produce. This capability significantly enhances our efficiency in tracking inventory and planning production, making the entire process much smoother. Additionally, I value the planning aspects of the software that help us forecast units sold and determine how efficient we are, which is critical for our manufacturing business operations. Furthermore, even though the initial setup was a bit complicated, the dedicated support from Brendan on the onboarding team was invaluable, guiding us every step of the way and making a substantial difference in our overall experience with the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

I wish Katana Cloud Inventory integrated better with QuickBooks and Shopify. There seem to be specific workarounds required if I don't want to do wholesale orders in Shopify. Additionally, the initial setup was a little complicated, although the support from Brendan on the onboarding team made a huge difference. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Andreia Mendes of Katana Cloud Inventory

Thank you for such a detailed review!

It’s great to hear things feel smoother now compared to spreadsheets. When you get all your numbers live in the same place, the day-to-day usually feels a lot more manageable.

Really appreciate you mentioning Brendan and our onboarding team, as well, we’ll make sure to pass it along.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience. We took note of everything and will keep working to make Katana even better for your team.
