The UI provides an easy to navigate platform and can be molded to as complex of a product you're looking for in the realm of financial modeling. There are a few limitations in regards to drivers and assumptions, but there appears to always be a method to build what you're attempting to visualize. I'd recommend! **What do you dislike about Jirav?** There are some innate ways that they build the drivers and integrations that cause challenges, but nothing that can't be fixed. An example would be layering in a planned raise for all employees with one click/assumption. Currently it's on a per employee basis. The ability to manage existing staff is limiting as well. Nothing that can't be solved with re-imported data or external assumptions. **What problems is Jirav solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jirav is solving the pain of broken excel worksheets and seamless collaboration between key stakeholders of the platform. Data integrations are a huge plus when planning future periods. ### 2. Forecasting this way allows my team to create accurate financial forecasts and change them easily as our client's circumstances change over time. We love the reporting function and have customized a reporting package that we deliver to clients each month as part of our CFO deliverables. Once the financial forecast is built, it can be extended and rolled forward each year, which saves a lot of time for my team. I am also really impressed with the support I've received if we can't figure out how to do one thing or another. They have great training and support sessions to help make sure the user is successful. We use Jirav for all of our clients now, and they love being presented with something more visually pleasing than excel spreadsheets! **What do you dislike about Jirav?** There are a few things I would like to see improved with Jirav, but I have given the development team feedback, and I believe there will be updates to some of these things in the future. I think their labor module could be more dynamic for part-time employees. The dashboards are also pretty simple. The simplicity can be nice since sometimes too much data isn't helpful for clients, but I think they could add the OPTION to make the dashboards a little more complex. **What problems is Jirav solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are a CFO agency, and we do financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and KPI tracking for our clients. The Dashboards are another one of my favorite features. I can produce a high-level financial dashboard to our shareholders for their monthly meetings. **What do you dislike about Jirav?** The only tricky part I encountered was setting up the drivers. It can be overwhelming, although we utilized Jirav's implementation team for this and I have ongoing meetings with a customer success team member for continued use cases. **What problems is Jirav solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are solving the problem of manual human error, spreadsheets and timely financial reporting. I haven't found a situation that I haven't been able to model out. I don't have an incredible amount of time to work on FP&A, and so I've found Jirav very helpful in streamlining our reporting process and not requiring an incredible amount of overhead. **What do you dislike about Jirav?** In general (and as of this writing), when you are building a model, you are locked to working with two variables at a time. Imagine using excel and only able to reference two cells in your formulas at a time. This isn't a game breaker by any means, and to be honest, it forces you to plan and organize your model and makes it easier to follow as opposed to have a massively convoluted formula. It just slows you down sometimes as you have to always think in a two-variable framework as opposed to multiple. **What problems is Jirav solving and how is that benefiting you?** How can I create robust financial models while minimizing the upkeep and overhead needed to maintain/update the models I build? Jirav is simple to use, so that saves me time, while giving me a good tool to do projections and measuring company performance per plan. ### 7. The simple reporting infrastructure made it easy to get our team on the same page and in the same system with virtually no training for our end users! **What do you dislike about Jirav?** I don't have enough familiarity with the tool to provide detailed or constructive criticism. The role that I was given has relatively limited permissions, so I'm not able to edit reports - it might be helpful if even those with "read only" permissions had an easier way to create reports in a personal view for their own teams. **What problems is Jirav solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jirav helped our team organize and centralize our budgeting, forecasting and actuals. We were originally budgeting in excel and doing manual scenarios and different presentations depending on the investor presentation. After implementing Jirav, we created a source of truth. We worked through various scenarios to get my leadership team comfortable with how Jirav was forecasting, which enabled us to plan for the next year and quickly present several required scenarios to our board. **What do you dislike about Jirav?** Jirav still involves a certain amount of "back-end" calculations which are needed on the front-end of the FP&A UI and booking and revenue planning tools. I wish I could sometimes "double-click" a formula and drill down deeper into how it is creating the calculation, but after some time in the tool and knowing my way around the software, you can get the same result. It would be best if you spent time in the software to get the most out of it, and I think the overall learning curve for Jirav is gradual, with some quick efficiency gains in the near term. **What problems is Jirav solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jirav is helping set the company's next year plan and managing and holding the leadership team accountable to the budget and plan set prior to the year began. ### 9. There are plenty of drivers that can be used to forecast future financial results that range from averages to historical numbers. This would be a very good tool for use if trained properly and understanding all the capabilities of the platform. **What do you dislike about Jirav?** The sheer amount of customizable drivers can be confusing. There are a few accounts that do not line up correctly with the initial set-up of accounts. It would also be great if the calculated budget could be imported directly into Netsuite through the integration. **What problems is Jirav solving and how is that benefiting you?** We had issues with managing the yearly budget process through excel sheets and it was confusing keeping track of all the department budgets that were turned in and what version they were. Jirav helps to resolve this issue by keeping everything up to date and in one place. We also did not have a good process for forecasting with previous actuals. ### 10. The implementation consultant is fantastic.. so knowledgeable, and helpful as we move through some very complex business conditions that impact our forecasting. **What do you dislike about Jirav?** We have identified a problem during implementation in the variance reporting, where the sign, or positive/(negative) variance, is backwards for the bottom line, but correct for Income and Operating Expenses. The consultant has assured me this is fixed and rolling out in the next patch update. Overall, I love the product, and that has been the only dislike I've had. **What problems is Jirav solving and how is that benefiting you?** Getting off Excel and Google sheets, and now able to build out formulas in the Jirav softwarethat we can carry over in future years. Substantial flexibility in making your forecasts as complex or simple as needed depending on your business needs and the users' skill level. We've had a great experience tailoring it to our business unit and department structure so we can see cuts that way or by more conventional accounts nearly automatically. Also allows you to roll and unroll things in a way that lets you be user-friendly at the Board level and for department teams. Customer service is excellent. **What do you dislike about Jirav?** It can look a little daunting when you first get into it. It took us some time to get comfortable and start using the more advanced features. I've found that after using it for over a year, I'm still learning new features/advantages, which I think is good. But with the more powerful aspects, such as some of the driver functionality, it isn't as easy as using Excel sometimes. But way more power in terms of what you can do and how you adapt your reporting. **What problems is Jirav solving and how is that benefiting you?** Jirav is giving me a platform to forecast and budget, processes that tie into our fundraising strategy and positioning. We are moving from complex spreadsheets to the highly visual dashboards and reports of Jirav and seeing better insights than we ever have. **What do you dislike about Jirav?** Jirav was not really built to accommodate some of the complexities that we wanted to track out of the box, which required a lot of customization report building that I wasn't prepared for, but the team was amazing with helping us create the views and reports we needed to make sure the product works for us. **What problems is Jirav solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have been entering information in up to 6 spreadsheets to track different metrics. With Jirav, most of that information is now pulled automatically from our accounting software, with only one additional entry that can be done with a bulk export of data. Jirav for annual budgeting and longer-term forecasting **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** David F. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2023 **What do you like best about Jirav?** - Linking to Quickbooks is incredibly helpful in updating our working plan - Version history is easier to maintain than Excel (locking plans, copying plans, etc.) - Setting up revenue/cost drivers is easy enough to learn if you have a strong Excel background - Once you have everything up and running, you can feel more confident that you don't have an error tucked away in a random cell within your Excel model (e.g., cell X references cell R44 on tab 3 instead of R45 on tab 3, throwing off the whole model). **What do you dislike about Jirav?** - No ability to trace precedents/dependents results in models that are difficult to audit - It's difficult to model lumpy revenue cleanly. If you only have ARR and simple implementation fees, Jirav can handle this without question. Any significant non-recurring revenue can get lost due to the inability to label specific cells - Relatedly, model notes are deleted when you duplicate models (standard practice in monthly roll-forwards) **What problems is Jirav solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Jirav to complete our annual board-approved budgets and other scenario modeling. Ease of use. After just a few days, you feel like an expert in the system and understand how to navigate the application and make changes. The clone a budget feature is also fantastic when forecasting a new period! 2. This application removes all my pain points when budgeting via Excel. Adding drivers and assumptions is quick and reduces complex excel formuals. Also, no more broken excel links as you make updates! 3. The support we receive from our dedicated account rep has been best in class when compared to our other FP&A software tools. Jirav's implementation team understood this from day one, and their hands-on consultant style approach to my needs was the BEST SOFTWARE IMPLEMENTATION THAT I HAVE EVER BEEN A PART OF! The fact that the Jirav specialist was an accounting expert, a former Controller, made the conversations a breeze, and we never got lost in the technical accounting aspect of it. **What do you dislike about Jirav?** A software integration with our Payroll system, Zenefits, would be incredible, as would adding the second QBO dimension of Location to our Jirav setup. Either or both of those would be huge. **What problems is Jirav solving and how is that benefiting you?** The biggest problem Jirav is helping us solve is the ability to forecast on a per contract basis using the QBO Class dimension.
