"Unmatched Flexibility for Jira Workflow Automation"
What do you like best about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

Jira Misc Workflow Extensions brings a remarkable level of flexibility to workflow automation in Jira. With this tool, we can set up custom transitions, post functions, and conditions without having to rely on complicated scripts. As a result, our team has been able to cut down on manual tasks and enhance the efficiency of our processes overall. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

While JMWE offers robust capabilities, I find that the documentation lacks sufficient detail when it comes to more complex use cases. Sometimes, figuring out the correct mix of conditions and post functions requires a bit of trial and error. Additionally, I have noticed that performance may slow down somewhat when working with larger workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Unlimited Scripting Power, But UI and Debugging Need Improvement"
What do you like best about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

Big plus for me is that scripting here has no run limits, unlike Jira’s native scripting engine. That alone removes a lot of guardrails that slow us down and opens real flexibility for our workflows. We can iterate, chain tasks, and handle heavier jobs without babysitting executions, which should simplify maintenance and help us automate more of the routine work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

I like the power, but a few things slow me down. The UI can feel cumbersome, especially when many post-functions are stacked. I wish I could rename or label more actions so I can see what each does without opening them. Scripting is also finicky, particularly when referencing parent and child actions or issue context, and debugging errors is not very transparent. These add friction to building and maintaining workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Powerful but Slightly Complex Tool for Smarter Jira Workflows"
What do you like best about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

What I like best about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE) is that it makes Jira workflows much more flexible and automated without needing deep coding skills. For example, you can easily set rules like automatically assigning a ticket to a manager or sending a reminder when an issue stays “In Progress” too long. It helps save time, reduces manual errors, and keeps processes consistent across projects. Overall, it’s a simple but powerful tool that makes Jira smarter and more efficient to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

One aspect I find challenging about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE) is its initial complexity, particularly for those who are new to the tool. Many of the available options and scripts can be difficult to grasp without thorough documentation or hands-on experimentation. Additionally, even a minor error in a condition or post-function can impact the entire workflow. In larger projects, having too many JMWE rules may slightly reduce Jira’s performance. While JMWE is undoubtedly powerful, it requires careful configuration and a fair amount of trial and error to ensure everything runs smoothly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Essential Jira Plugin for Advanced Workflows, but Atlassian Cloud Migration should improve"
What do you like best about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

To truly maximize your use of Jira, it's important to extend its workflows within projects, which are now referred to as spaces. This plugin provides the essential validations, automation, and additional steps that go beyond the standard features Atlassian offers in Jira. I highly recommend it. It's also very intuitive and easy to use and implement and the support received is quick and with valid answers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

Overall, when we migrated from Data Center to Cloud, I found that the migration process could use improvement. Additionally, there are certain features that have changed or limitations within Atlassian that do not make the transition any easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Custom Automation Powerhouse"
What do you like best about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

I find Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE) extremely helpful, especially for post functions and the implementation of scripted conditions, which Jira does not natively support. The tool allows me to integrate custom logic and automation into Jira, which is vital as some of the ideas my clients want to implement are not available by default. I particularly appreciate its features like unlimited runs, numerous post functions, event-based actions, and scheduled actions. These are incredibly important, especially when working with Standard customers who face limitations with Jira's native functionality. Instead of moving to a more expensive Jira Premium account, which might include unnecessary features, JMWE helps us provide the necessary solutions cost-effectively. The setup of JMWE is straightforward, and I highly value the tool's ability to handle global automations efficiently, which otherwise would be constrained by Jira's native quotas. What do you dislike about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

I would very much be interested in an increase of logs capacity. The 200 most recent events limit should be improved. 200 is nothing if you're considering analyzing problems even in a small environment. Incidents on which logs are necessary for troubleshooting of problematic scripts, for example. I need to find which script ran for a ticket. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Essential for Complex Configurations in Atlassian"
What do you like best about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

I love how the configuration of Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE) is incredibly easy and precise, which immensely facilitates my work as an Atlassian consultant. This simplicity of configuration allows me to recommend it to others. Moreover, JMWE substantially helps solve complex configuration problems, which is invaluable in my work. I admire JMWE's ability to use Groovy to perform calculations and create complex formulas very easily, making complicated tasks much more manageable. The flexibility it offers in terms of integration is also valuable, as I can use it according to the varying needs of the client and other Atlassian Marketplace tools, like Legubriks, especially when it comes to creating reports with tools like the Exporter. What do you dislike about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

At this moment, I have nothing negative to report. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Ease of Automation, Needs Faster Execution"
What do you like best about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

I really appreciate how Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE) simplifies my work by automating tasks and actions that would otherwise require manual scripting, like with Groovy. This ease of automation greatly enhances my productivity as I can quickly implement intelligent actions using its user-friendly interface. The click-through interface, complete with wizards, makes it straightforward to create new Jira tickets or set conditions with validators without needing to delve into complex code, which was a substantial improvement over using other add-ons. This ease of use and the capability to handle automation without scripting were key reasons my team switched to JMWE. The initial setup of JMWE was extremely easy, to the point that I hardly remember the process, and this simplicity extends into its everyday use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

I encounter issues when adding multiple actions that need to be executed in sequence. The interface sometimes blocks when I try to add three, four, or five actions at once, forcing me to start over from the beginning. To manage this, I have to employ a workaround by saving intermittently between adding actions. This is quite time-consuming and disruptive. Additionally, the speed of executing post actions needs improvement. It is critical for post actions to execute immediately after a workflow transition, rather than having delays of five to ten seconds, which can confuse users and disrupt workflow continuity. "Powerful Automation, Steep Learning Curve"
What do you like best about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

I find Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE) to be one of the most capable workflow automation tools for Jira. It significantly enhances our process automation by allowing us to create custom transitions, validations, and post functions that Jira can handle, greatly improving efficiency. I've particularly appreciated how it bridges the gap between Jira's capabilities and the needs of an enterprise looking for robust automation solutions. The ability to handle complex automations, especially workflows across different departments like marketing, compliance, and tech, has been extremely beneficial for us. I am especially fond of the controls over when transitions are available based on rules, validators that ensure data and process quality before transitions occur, and listeners that trigger actions on specific events. Additionally, the software does not require a developer to implement which makes it accessible, and it's a cost-effective alternative compared to others in the market. Overall, we've grown to love the application over the past four years and plan to continue using it due to its extensive automation capabilities and cost efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

The interface of Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE) feels outdated, making it less appealing compared to modern alternatives. Additionally, the learning curve is quite steep for beginners as it requires a solid understanding of Jira and being open to automation concepts. Despite not needing to be a technical developer, setting it up initially was difficult, partly due to fragmented documentation. More comprehensive and better-organized documentation, as well as more use cases on the internet, would significantly help in user adoption and the implementation of complex flows. "JMWE: Reliable Workflow Automation That Stands the Test of Time"
What do you like best about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

Back when I first started out as a Jira administrator, JMWE played a crucial role in helping me create effective workflows. Many of the workflow rules I set up with JMWE are still in use today, which speaks to its reliability. JMWE has established itself as a third-party add-on for Jira that is here to stay, so you don't have to worry about your workflows breaking if it were to vanish from the marketplace. I feel confident that JMWE will continue to be available for the long term. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

There really isn't any aspect of JMWE that I would consider a "dislike." If I were to really search for something, perhaps I could say that it does so much of the work for me that it doesn't challenge my knowledge as much as it could. However, in truth, that's barely a complaint. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"JMWE: Flexible Workflow Automation That Saves Time and Simplifies Jira"
What do you like best about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

What I like best about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE) is the flexibility it brings to Jira workflows. It allows me to automate complex business processes without having to rely heavily on custom scripts or external plugins. The built-in post functions, conditions, and validators make it easy to create dynamic workflows that adapt to specific project needs.

I also appreciate how JMWE integrates seamlessly with Jira Cloud and Data Center, providing a consistent user experience. The documentation and community support are great, which makes experimenting and implementing new automation ideas much faster. Overall, JMWE saves a lot of time and reduces manual work while keeping workflows maintainable and transparent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)?

What I dislike about Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE) is that, while it’s incredibly powerful, the learning curve can be quite steep for new users. Some of the advanced features, especially when dealing with complex scripting or chained post functions, require a good understanding of Jira’s workflow logic.

In addition, performance can sometimes be affected in large instances with many automation rules, and debugging issues can be time-consuming since error messages are not always very descriptive.

That said, once you get used to the tool, these challenges become manageable, and the flexibility it provides usually outweighs the initial complexity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
