## IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer Reviews
  ### 1. Tool with Limited Capabilities

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2020

**What do you like best about IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer?**

The tool allows a way to quickly summarize the data in a field to provide metrics that would be time consuming to obtain manually. It also gives a quick summary of the tables. This in opinion is the most useful feature.

**What do you dislike about IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer?**

I dislike that the software does not allow you to compare fields to truly profile data. Field in tables have dependencies and the software does not allow you to see this. You also cannot see all of the data in a table. It blocks different views of the data. This creates the need for a spreadsheet or querying tool.

**Recommendations to others considering IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer:**

Look into all
Options. I am unsure on the cost, but the tool is not robust enough for our purposes. It adds time to our tasks and does not solve all issues.

**What problems is IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Obtaining a summary of data values in a field, data types, knowing which fields are completely null.

  ### 2. IA has great promise

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer?**

The integration with the rest of the InfoSphere suite like IGC and Data Stage. Information analyzer moves the data quality responsibility closer to the data owners. It gives indviduals with not a lot of technical background the ability to take control of their data quality.

**What do you dislike about IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer?**

Not all the functionality has been ported to the thin client. The thick client is very bulky and cumbersome. It is not very intuitive.

**Recommendations to others considering IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer:**

IA's true diffrentiator is it's ties to the rest of the InfoSphere suite. If you are already a data stage quality stage customer this is a no brainer. If you are considering or own Information Governace Catalog it does not make sense to evaluate another product. Once your company has the technical accumen to support the back end or you go to a cloud implentation, you business will fine IA invaluable.
