# Which CLM platforms do legal and procurement teams actually keep using after rollout rather than falling back to email chains and shared drives?

Hi G2 community, I've been looking into a pattern that comes up a lot with contract tools: a team buys one, rolls it out, and later, half the contracts are still living in inboxes and shared drives. I've been comparing notes across the Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) category to see which tools legal and procurement teams stick with, and a few keep coming up because they have become the place where work happens instead of a second system nobody wants to update.

Ironclad is built around configurable workflows for intake, approval, and signature, which is what pulls contract traffic out of long email threads and gives everyone a clear view of where a contract sits and who's holding it up. Its search leans heavily on tags and metadata, so it rewards teams that set up their properties carefully at the start.

LinkSquares centralizes executed agreements and makes their terms searchable, so legal and business users can self-serve answers instead of chasing whoever might have the latest version. A big reason it sticks is that legal can maintain it directly, and basic access can extend to non-legal users, which grows adoption beyond the legal team.

ContractSafe is built for teams that have outgrown shared drives and want a repository that's genuinely easy to live in. It's deliberately focused rather than feature-heavy, so new people can find documents with little training, which is often what keeps a tool in daily use. The trade-off is that highly non-standard workflows can need workarounds.

Conga CLM is designed to put legal, procurement, and sales on one system with automated intake, approval, and a searchable repository, which is aimed squarely at ending the version-control and email ping-pong that pulls contracts back out to inboxes. Worth knowing that the initial setup can be complex and often benefits from an experienced admin.

For anyone past the honeymoon phase with one of these, what actually kept your team in the tool a year later instead of drifting back to inboxes and drives? And if adoption slipped, was it a workflow that didn't match how contracts really move, or something as basic as search that never quite worked?

I’ve found that adoption usually comes down to whether business users can find answers without asking legal for help. Once search and approvals feel easier than email, the platform tends to stick.
