I really like the capabilities of this software, and I mainly used it for my optimization models. By writing a mathematical model in OPL, I was able to solve many complex problems that would otherwise have been impossible for me to tackle.
The user interface is very easy to use, especially compared with older optimization software like LINGO. I could connect my Excel file and run the optimization model on real data without any hassle.
In my experience, the speed depends largely on the model itself. If you have many constraints and large datasets, CPLEX can take some time to run and return a solution. The model I worked on was a little bit complex, so I was able to get results in a few hours.
Although the software is a bit pricey, it’s still one of the best tools for researchers and scientists who need to solve complex mathematical problems in an easy and efficient way.
I also found the newly integrated AI feature very helpful. It assisted me in resolving some of the errors I was getting when running the model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It was really hard to learn this software because there weren't many support resources or tutorials available online. Also, my background is not in computer science, but the software requires some coding skills to debug errors.
Additionally, one of the models I had to solve was very complex, with big data and many constraints. For problems like this, the software takes a bit more time than for regular problems, although it is still better than older traditional software like LINGO.
