  ### 3. AAS is always a great tool atleast better than SSAS in every way

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samrat D. | Data Engineering Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2023

**What do you like best about Azure Analysis Services?**

Support of HD Insights, and because of this it can handle large datasets without any problem which can be pretty difficult with SSAS.
Also, azure is always less expensive than SSAS as this will only charge when we are actually using it.

**What do you dislike about Azure Analysis Services?**

There is not much i dislike about AAS. I find it much better than other analysis tool. But i find it a little bit difficult to use it compare to SSAS.

**What problems is Azure Analysis Services solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We developer power bi reports for our client and recently we have moved out data in cloud and the dataset is really big approx 500 million data to process so azure helped us alot on this. So we decomissioned ssas and our client is only investing on Azure.

  ### 4. Best azure service for analytics workload at scale.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohan N. | Programming Analyst - AIA Data. (Azure Data Engineer), Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Azure Analysis Services?**

Azure analytics service (AAS) provide the compute engine to process large amount of data and do large scale data modelling, relationships and calculations.
Previously for analytics, we had a limit in PowerBI to store data for premium users and it was hard to do complex data modelling using DBMS normalisations and denormalizations as PBI will take more time to process to change even simple data type.
So for big data workload, specially if you are using streaming data, live data to generate reports the to improve the dynamic capabilities of PBI reports AAS is good.
Also you can easily integrate this with other azure services like ADF, Databricks to do your ETL process.
Also, AAS support the ETL as well and we can group the relationship in hierarchy in folder like one to one, many to one etc.
Also auto detect saves lot of time.
If you have large number of users for report sharing and if they need the visuals, dashboards at real time for complex data AAS helps to achieve that.

**What do you dislike about Azure Analysis Services?**

Well, for actual analytics we need to connect with powerbi in order to make visuals, tiles, reports, KPIs as AAS doens't support end report analytics .
It adds additional layer of complexity and can't easily see the dynamic change we doing in tabular data model in dashboard.
We need jump everytime to PBI for that.

**What problems is Azure Analysis Services solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it for HealthCare data to for large scale workload we are getting from ADF And databricks to do the data modelling at report level. It support many connectors and we are also using CSV and tsv file getting from AWS S3 to use in AAS.

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Azure Analysis Services?**

I like to see Microsoft branching out more with its cloud services. I would say that this has its specific use scenario. Bringing big data down to smaller companies and clients. Allowing for metrics and full stacks of analytical services. It does help bridge the gap in information that you otherwise would not have.

**What do you dislike about Azure Analysis Services?**

With only one client utilizing their infrastructure as a service plan its harder to sell for an MSP where already have robust monitoring and data-pulling softwares at our disposal. Something like Continuum NOC does the same thing as AAS.

**What problems is Azure Analysis Services solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps to capture and palate info from our Azure cloud hosted services, including vm clusters into something readable. We've found that for our clients the largest having around 2000 employees its a tougher sell since they do have ways of analyzing data into something business modable beyond what AAS is capable. The one client who does use it we find it meets their needs just fine.
