Dramatic force in a shell of heritage. It lacks the bling of newer BI products, but where size matters and large quantities of data are required to be processed, it is a beast. Stable, heavy, and industrial grade, although, at times, it seems heavier than it needs to be. The pixel-perfect and governance is unparalleled. Bursting is supported with row-level security to thousands of users and is better addressed here than anywhere. It also honors data hierarchy, which is not negotiable to us. Responsive dashboarding has too much manual tweaking to be attractive on tablets relative to indigenous mobile BI applications. I use IBM Cognos Analytics mainly for dashboard and report making for clients, and I appreciate how it helps make my presentations better and easier to understand. I like the UI, and enjoy the basic features like making charts and the modeling feature, even if I don't use them frequently.
