As we've continued to grow, the software has allowed us to remove hours of administration time from the weekly schedule to focus more on developing new menus and serving more clients. The user interface for both clients and staff is simple and intuitive and allows our team to spend less time taking and tallying orders, and more time doing what we do best- serving delicious food to our community. Allowing customization such as agreements, tax-exempt form uploads and cut-off times has helped us grow our sales while still spending far less time preparing invoices, following up on checks, and other issues we've had in the past. Enabling cut-off times while still allowing manual override on the back end has allowed us maximum flexibility in dealing with those last-minute orders that we can fulfill while also giving us a clear picture of what we need to order. **What do you dislike about HoneyCart- Online Ordering for Caterers?** For our business, I have not experienced any downsides to moving to HoneyCart. The only thing I would love to see in the future differently would be possible incorporation with label printers to provide clear labels of items and customers for our items, or perhaps down the line some app functionality for ordering. Additionally, the possible connection with a delivery service would help us a lot. **Recommendations to others considering HoneyCart- Online Ordering for Caterers:** HoneyCart is an affordable, user-friendly tool. Invoices or direct charging is perfect for caterers. **What problems is HoneyCart- Online Ordering for Caterers solving and how is that benefiting you?** HoneyCart has proven to be one of the best options from a cost perspective- as a non-profit kitchen, our excess funds for software like this have previously made us consider more "home brewed" options that were cheaper, but not nearly as effective. HoneyCart knows who they are, and provides stellar service at a cost we can afford. Omar and Andrew are quick and responsive to any questions we've had, and because of them and their work, we have been able to quadruple the number of meals we distribute for free to our neighbors in need as our sales have continued to grow. ### 2. The service provided by ordering platforms is the same regardless of the size of an order, so it's frustrating as a small business owner who is preparing, loading, and delivering orders knowing that the bigger the order, the bigger the "cut". The ability to manually change the menu with an easy-to-use interface allows for changes on the fly instead of working with a middleman, facing delays and mistakes. **What do you dislike about HoneyCart- Online Ordering for Caterers?** Quickbooks integration is not as useful as one would like- this is common to all third-party platforms in my experience. I may be missing something but have settled on journalling the deposits (which come through Stripe) manually, which is tedious but well worth it considering I have to do almost as much work for other platforms who take a percentage commission. **What problems is HoneyCart- Online Ordering for Caterers solving and how is that benefiting you?** They're allowing my small business to maintain a solid bottom line- less money on commission means more money to grow the business and compete in a highly competitive field with rising costs. ### 3. We can update and change items, photos, etc. VERY easily. **What do you dislike about HoneyCart- Online Ordering for Caterers?** It's not inexpensive, but I do think it is worth the $$. **What problems is HoneyCart- Online Ordering for Caterers solving and how is that benefiting you?** We tried a few online ordering products in the past and kept running into the same problem: none of them met the specific needs of caterers. There were always too many work around issues like not being able to set blackout times, lead times, and having tax-exempt clients… It was just too hard to make it work for catering. When I first heard of HoneyCart, my main concern was that it'd be another restaurant takeout system. But I knew that busy customers today are trained to expect convenience and will often choose it over quality. We decided to try HoneyCart and found it was really easy to implement, and our customers find it easy and intuitive to use. We aren’t forced to do any workarounds since features like lead times and being able to charge cards later were designed for catering. It automates mundane tasks to allow us to use our time in the most-effective way possible.
