  ### 1. A not-so-current implementation of the lightbox concept

**What do you like best about Highslide JS?**

Back at the times (a few years ago, Internet Explorer 5 was still around), Highslide JS was a cutting edge script that implemented fairly well the lightbox concept.For what I remember, it maybe could have been the first to do so. The website featured also a nice configurator, jQuery UI style, so you could select the components and add-ons you needed and reduce file size of the downloadable script, and a lot of ready made examples for galleries, single photos, HTML content, captions, etc.

**What do you dislike about Highslide JS?**

Unfortunately, this product hasn't aged well: the CSS styles have not been updated for responsiveness and also the product website has stayed exactly as it was when it started (Internet Explorer 5 references included). Nowadays web standards change at godspeed and there is plenty of modern, cutting edge alternatives for any lightbox need you could imagine.

**Recommendations to others considering Highslide JS:**

Please look elsewhere. In 2018 you can't use Highslide JS anymore as it is not optimized for the latest technologies and paradigms, and there is plenty of free alternatives with beautiful CSS default styles and built-in support for responsivity.

**What problems is Highslide JS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Back at the times Highslide JS was one of the first implementations available of the lightbox concept, so we used it a few times to display content (images, galleries, HTML pages, messages to the user) on top of the current page, in a separate "window". Now we utilise more modern scripts to realise the same benefits that the lighbox paradigm brings.

**What do you like best about Highslide JS?**

I love how its smooth. Easy to use. Automatically does what I want it to do. I like that it works really well with Wordpress. It was easy to install and its easy to add what I need. User friendly. 

**What do you dislike about Highslide JS?**

Sometimes glitchy. Sometimes it is difficult to put in my images. 

**What problems is Highslide JS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use this on my website to create a image based graphics and designs. It helps me make great visuals seamlessly.
