I would like to have a wider choice of themes and, above all, more customization options. The price is for sure a big obstacle for little software houses (but they have a community edition for entities under 1M). The Plus about a lot of properties and features of some components are also a downside, because in the first times you're lost in dozens of modes to achieve the same result. There are two main branches of documentation: one focused solely on demos and examples (always accompanied by source code), and another (demos) that delves into more technical details. Perhaps it would be better to merge these two worlds and have a single entry point for each component (e.g., the “Data Grid” homepage), allowing users to navigate to either demos or documentation. The linear and radial gauges that I have used in my software have saved me hours in development time as I haven't had to create custom controls from scratch. The gauges are well thought through and have a very flexible API allowing me to create exactly the customisations I was looking for. I am using the controls as provided by Syncfusion and haven't had to sub-class them in order to provide the functionality I needed. It would be nice if the Z-Index was exposed for the axes / ticks / annotations and pointers, as by default I found these not to be in the logical 'real world' stacking order I expected. I have got round the issue by re-ordereing the content in xaml and by creating 'fake' axes where necessary, but it would be better if I was able to do this with a simple property. We use Syncfusion Essential Studio primarily for its PDF Viewer and Word mail merge functionality.

With Syncfusion Essential Studio, it is straightforward to convert a Word template containing merge fields into a finished PDF document. Our customers create and manage their own Word templates, which are then submitted to our API together with the corresponding mail merge data. The API processes the template and returns a complete PDF.

This approach gives our customers the flexibility to update the layout and content of their documents without requiring changes to our application. For us as developers, the Syncfusion components save a considerable amount of development time and provide a reliable way to generate professional documents dynamically.

The PDF Viewer integrates well into our application and can be adapted to fit naturally within our existing user experience. This allows users to view and work with generated documents without feeling as though they are being redirected to a separate or unfamiliar interface.

Syncfusion Essential Studio offers a very broad range of features and components across many different platforms. While this is a major strength, it can sometimes make it difficult to determine which component, package, or implementation approach is the best fit for a specific use case.

Some features overlap across products or platforms, so it may take additional time to compare the available options and understand the differences. The extensive documentation is helpful, but the sheer amount of information can make the initial selection and setup process feel somewhat overwhelming.

Recently, we've been deeply involved in modernizing our MAUI app to .Net10 and the current best practices. I like that Essential Studio is constantly evolving, improving controls and adding new features in each version. The documentation, examples, and the help provided by the implemented AI assistant are important aspects. I miss certain things in WinForms controls that are present in others like WPF and Blazor. For example, there's a lack of a scheduling calendar, an image editor, or an advanced document scanning and digitization control. Although I understand that web development controls are evolving faster. Additionally, it would be useful to have native controls for editing and sending electronic invoices like Edifact and complying with banking regulations like SEPA, more digitization options, and greater AI capabilities. I really liked using the community license for Essential Studio to quickly build my AI spreadsheet assistant with the Syncfusion Spreadsheet UI. It provided a quick and easy way to reuse spreadsheet functionality without having to build one from scratch, especially when existing products are either expensive or don't offer rich functionality and a good developer experience. I find Essential Studio still not quite production-grade when compared to office or Google products. The support for the developer ecosystem could be better, especially with Syncfusion APIs needing more flexibility. The application currently supports only a web app, so all APIs and related functionalities are on the frontend. I would prefer backend support for APIs, making development more streamlined by avoiding having to tweak my harness for separate frontend and backend support. Also, the APIs need improvement by providing more granular data, keeping the docs up to date, and offering support for AI agents to interact with the documentation quickly. We used Syncfusion Essential Studio under an enterprise license in an internal Angular-based AI tool for inline editing of AI-generated CSR documents. The UI/UX is its biggest strength: the editor feels familiar, like Microsoft Word, with a ready-made toolbar and rich formatting for headings, tables, and lists, so our users needed almost no training. It handled long, multi-section documents smoothly without noticeable lag, and it fit naturally into our AI workflow, letting us load model outputs into the editor, let users refine them, and pass the edited content back for further processing. Built-in HTML sanitization and paste filtering also protected us from malformed or unsafe content coming from pasted text or AI responses. Since the tool handles proprietary prompts and company data, self-hosting was essential. The components are bundled into our own application with no calls to external vendor servers, which made security and compliance reviews much easier. The biggest challenge we faced was customizing the UI to match our own design system. Overriding the default styles to apply our theme colors and font styles was difficult, since the components ship with deeply nested CSS and specific class structures, so simple changes often required high-specificity overrides or workarounds.
