"Not Intuitive for Users—Workarounds, Email Issues, and Confusing Platform Fees"

What do you like best about Givebutter?

What do you dislike about Givebutter?

User side interface is not intuitive. We had to do a lot of tech support. In the auction, I could figure out how to just charge an item winner, so we had to do a workaround to close out the item. Some guests received winning bid emails; if they did not, it was a pain to close them out. The platform fees are also very confusing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Visually Pleasing, Simple, and Always Adding the Features We Need"

"Givebutter Replaced Three Tools and Centralized Our Operations"

What do you like best about Givebutter?

I like that Givebutter integrates almost every aspect of our organization. This allowed us to replace three separate products we were using that weren't talking to each other. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Givebutter?

I wish it had volunteer hours tracking and a two-way sync with QuickBooks. Currently, we have to use an outside product to track our volunteer hours. The problems we run into with Quickbooks are lack of check number and deposit date synching, changes made to Givebutter transactions after sync don't re-sync, and changes made to transactions in QuickBooks don't update Givebutter. "Streamlined Donor Management with Givebutter"

What do you like best about Givebutter?

I use Givebutter for donor management in our 501c3 animal rescue. I love the features like pathways, emails, and texting, which help maintain communication with donors, regardless of donation size. The organization of donors has improved significantly, as everything is now in one easy-to-access place. The ease of use and customer service stand out for me. The platform makes it quicker and easier to communicate with donors. Setting up our organization was incredibly easy on Givebutter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Givebutter?

We have had a hard time getting our current contact list transferred over to Givebutter. It is difficult to translate the spreadsheet from Mailchimp to the exact format Givebutter needs, especially with 5,000 subscribers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lots of Free, Easy-to-Use Features"

What do you like best about Givebutter?

It has lots of free features that are fairly easy to use. Having our fundraising, event ticketing, and donor management in one place without platform fees has been a solid upgrade for our team. The donor tipping model works well, as most of our supporters choose to cover processing fees so more of the money raised goes straight to our programs.

On the daily workflow side, the drag-and-drop campaign builder makes it quick to launch custom ticketing pages without needing a designer. We don't use the feature yet, but the option to have event sales and donor profiles automatically sync will save us from doing manual CSV exports and spreadsheet updates. The checkout process is smooth, and offering options like Venmo, Apple Pay, and Google Pay helps reduce abandoned. Onboarding was straightforward enough that we were able to get up and running right away without needing dedicated IT support or technical training. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Givebutter?

The reporting functionality needs improvement, particularly when reconciling payouts against accounting software. When deposits are bundled, it is very difficult to identify which specific donors and transactions correspond to a given payout batch. This creates a significant administrative bottleneck during monthly accounting reconciliations, making it hard to track donor history and financial records accurately. Templated reports aren't great either. Even after upgrading, the reporting capabilities lack the depth needed for clean data exports. Adding clearer transaction breakdowns and more options for report templates, including customized reports, would make a huge difference for financial tracking. What problems is Givebutter solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before using Givebutter, we struggled to manage modern, multichannel giving options without overwhelming our small team or paying high platform fees. The free platform model gives us a strong ROI, as we can easily run text-to-donate campaigns alongside traditional online giving, which gives our supporters convenient ways to contribute.

The UI and live campaign tracking page format make a noticeable difference during fundraising events, helping build excitement in real time while keeping our community engaged. Having these features natively integrated in one dashboard eliminates the need to manage separate third-party tools. Onboarding was quick and straightforward, and we plan to try the online auction features in the future as we expand our events. And we totally hear you on the reporting. One thing I did want to mention is that reports are sent to your email for security, so we can make sure the person accessing that information is actually you. We know it adds an extra step, but keeping your data safe is super important to us!

For attendee addresses, those aren’t collected automatically for each ticket holder, but you can add an address as a custom field if that’s information you’d like to collect from your attendees. Those custom fields will also be included in your ticket export!

I was impressed with the Givebutter team when I signed up because there was a lot of due diligence making sure that we were a nonprofit. They also considered that someone my age might not be on social media, and I was very impressed with that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I'm concerned about the high fees that donors encounter when using credit cards on Givebutter. Some donors have felt that they were being charged exorbitantly, with fees almost reaching 20%. This situation causes me concern as it doesn't just affect Givebutter but also impacts my nonprofit by potentially leaving donors disgruntled about giving money. We also appreciate you raising your concerns about donor fees. One of Givebutter's goals is to provide organizations with flexibility in how fees are handled. For example, organizations can choose to cover processing fees themselves or hide them from supporters, and when optional platform tips are enabled, supporters can decide whether or not they'd like to leave a tip. Those optional tips also help fund Givebutter and, through the Givebutter Guarantee, can cover eligible processing fees on behalf of nonprofits.
