# What is HEC-HMS?

I know Hydrologic Engineering Center’s Hydrologic Modeling System is abbreviated as HEC-HMS. But can someone please help me understand what the software is all about.

HEC-HMS (Hydrologic Engineering Center’s Hydrologic Modeling System) is a computer program developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for hydrological modeling. It is used to simulate the hydrological processes that occur in a watershed, such as precipitation, runoff, evapotranspiration, and infiltration.
