## FreeWill Reviews
  ### 1. FreeWilli is wonderful!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erin B. | Director of Development and Communications, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

It's hard to pick just one thing that I like best about FreeWill. They provide in-depth support with a dedicated team member; they provide resources, feedback, and suggestions to make our campaigns successful; their platfrorm is dynamic and intuitive to use; and they reguarly ask for ways to improve and frequently implement them.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

This isn't something I dislike about FreeWill specifically, but I'd like to see more data on the long -term longevity of some of these commitments. Will we actually see the bequests from people who leave us in their will through FreeWill when they are in their 30's, 40's, and 50's?

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to utliize the national featureship and that brought us 60 new contacts and $8 million in commitments so it helped us sifnificantly increase the number of people who left us in their will. We have since downgraded and now it allows us to offer our current members a way to create a will for free.

  ### 2. It just works!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin K. | Operations Specialist, Planned Giving, Non-Profit Organization Management, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

The most helpful parts of FreeWill are the ease of finding legacy gift information and the way it's laid out for each person. The details that people submit through FreeWill are clearly marked and easily accessible. FreeWill's new AI companion, William, is incredibly helpful when creating donor outreach and marketing materials. The Learning Hub also has many great training sessions to enhance your legacy program.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

I wish there was a way to confirm that someone's bequest is genuine. For example, if someone submits a non-anonymous gift, we accept it as confirmed and add them to our legacy society. If these bequests have been added to the will in jest then there may be confusion when we welcome someone to the legacy society, or they may just not respond at all. It's a small problem but the time wasted with these bequests starts to add up.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FreeWill allows us to have a central repository of legacy commitments that can be quickly accessed and recorded into our agency's database. This allows us to streamline stewardship of legacy society members without having to worry about keeping track of submissions on paper or in a spreadsheet.

  ### 3. Grow Planned Giving with FreeWill

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David M. | Development Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

FreeWill successfully manages to take a topic like planned giving, and make it easy to understand and navigate for both the consumer, and the nonprofit staff. Working with the FreeWill team is a breeze -- a dedicated Success Strategist keeps the organization focused on getting the work done in an organized and timely way. Content team comes up with copy based on our voice, and we're free to make edits as needed.

I originally discovered FreeWill through a series of free webinars, hosted by co-founder Patrick. I was impressed with the quality of content, and with his knowledge of fundraising in general. I continue to attend these sessions, as well as the partner training sessions for orgs that have signed on.

I'm also pleased with their partner portal, which offers education, training and a customized AI tool.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

We've been partnered with FreeWill for about two years, and so far there's nothing I dislike. It's been all been good, and the return on investment has been positive.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FreeWill is helping us build a planned giving program for our supporters. Using it, we've received bequests from several people who were not previously on our radar as donors.

  ### 4. Amazing resource for Planned Giving Officers and individuals!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jay H. | Manager of Principal & Planned Giving, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

The best thing about FreeWill is the user friendly nature - very simple interface for users of varying levels of tech savvy. For that reason, I feel comfortable recommending to donors of all ages. And what a valuable thing FreeWill offers at no cost! And as a parnter organization, their customer service has been top-notch. Every team member I have interacted with has been friendly, knowledgable, and helpful.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

Their tools and support just keep getting better, so I'd be hard pressed to find a "dislike."

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Offering a community that might not have the financial wherewithal the access to estate planning documents at zero cost to them. Also, it helps demistify the process, allowing people to create these important documents easily.

  ### 5. FreeWill Increases Your Estate Plans

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Don H. | Engagement Officer for Legacy Planning and Senior Adults, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

FreeWill is easy to use. The accessability is superb and it applies to all ages. The versatility of the program to be tailored made by the donor is outstanding. I wanted to have a Estate Planning tool that appealed to all ages, FreeWill does just that. We have received Estate Plans through FreeWill for ages 25 to 75, it more that exceeded my expectations.
Clayton Chamberlain, our Customer Support person, is outstanding. The best. He makes it easy and is always listens to our requests.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

Not enough people use it. We are marketing FreeWill and my hope is ore people will take advantage of this offering from Trevecca Nazarene University.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reaching more Gen X and Z.

  ### 6. Invaluable resources for you and your supporters

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Fund-Raising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

Freewill provides an invaluable set of resources both for your supporters and for you as a development professional. The will writing tool is easy for supporters to use, and the assistance that you receive in preparing and deploying campaigns to market the tool makes it easy to promote. The wraparound services, including weekly webinars on key planned giving topics and a fantastic suite of Canva designs for print marketing, ensure that you're making the most of Freewill's opportunities.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

Upgrades to portal functionality are always welcome (ease of filtering results, creating standard filter "profiles" that exclude contingent/teritary bequests so we can immediately see the number most useful to us, etc).

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our experience has been that the average bequest given through Freewill is significantly lower than our non-Freewill average bequest, which at first might sound like a negative. What we've learned, however, is that Freewill is helping us widen the circle of planned gift donors to include more people. Many of our planned gift donors through Freewill are people who wouldn't otherwise be writing a will at all or who do not view themselves as philanthropists. Without Freewill, they would not be open to conversations about planned giving because the barriers to writing a will seemed insurmountable. With Freewill, they are not only taking this important step to secure their future, they are also learning that they can play an important role in the future of a cause they care about.

  ### 7. Make it easy for your donors to donate to your cause.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Linda S. | Director of Philanthropy, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

One of the best things about FreeWill is their ability to make complex subjects easy to understand not only for the professional fund raiser but also for the donors who use their products to make a gift.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

I don't think there are any true downsides to using FreeWill except not having enough time to use all that they offer.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a very small fund raising team blessed with many donors. It is difficult to be an expert in the various planned giving opportunities and/or ways to assist donors in making gifts. Partnering with FreeWill is like having an extended staff of knowlegable experts at your fingertips and being able to access them almost instantly. Their knowledge is second to none and their customer support is supurb. They add the extra benefit of continual training that you can access from your computer without attending conferences...and the training is CFRE approved.

  ### 8. Fantastic platform, even better support team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jasmine Q. | Donor Services & Insights Senior Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

FreeWill has helped grow our Legacy Society by over 170%. The platform itself gives great insights as an admin but is also very easy to use as a donor. The regional featureship can be attributed for more than half of our gifts so we believe that's a great investment. The support that we receive from the FreeWill team ranges from strategy recommendations to stewardship communications, to content creation, to campaign planning and more. They are incredibly intuitive, creative, strategic, and just great to work with. They've taken most of the stress/burden around building a Legacy Society off our overcrowded plates. I can't recommend them (and especially Ellie!!) enough.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

An integration with Salesforce would be a nice to have but not necessary.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having the bandwidth and staffing to manage a legacy giving program. Freewill takes a lot of the heavy lifting off our plate.

  ### 9. FreeWill offers complete packages for all planned giving needs.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Debbie H. | Planned Giving Representative, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

The planned giving website that hosts our planned giving and smart giving suites is very informative and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

This is NOT FreeWill's fault, but it is difficult to train our donors to send gifts through our FreeWill suites.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FreeWill is providing a tool for people to write their wills. Our organization is active in all 50 states, and we could not easily help supporters find attorneys or services to help them write their wills. We are now better able to track bequests and follow up with donors.

  ### 10. FreeWill is Extremely Esay to Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adrienne L. R. | Development Associate, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

FreeWill is very easy to navigate and offers every kind of Legacy Planning options available. People can get as granular or as broad as they choose. The system helps the individual consider every facet of their legacy planning. They system allows for easy saving of progess to be able to return and update later.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

Once completed, the system doen't make it very clear what steps may be next in order to fully complete the proces.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many ofd our donors don't have a Will or know how to go ablout obtaining one. This service allows a free platform to assist with not just including us in their planning, but to help with the overall Will planning.

  ### 11. A great team!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jane R. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

They are extremely organized and helpful. Consistency is critical for a small staff to keep planned giving on the top of the to-do list. The copy is great and usually only takes a few minor edits to push it out and that is such a timesaver.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

The cost is the major downside for us. It is a big expense for a small shop. And we become dependent on it, which is hard but grateful an option. We haven't had a donor advised gift but worry about that going through a portal that is not ours.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping us promote planned giving and donor-advised funds. This has been on our radar but time has been the challenge and they help solve that!

  ### 12. Increase staff capacity with FreeWill

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christine B. | Chief Development Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

FreeWill is like adding another staff member specializing in planned giving opportunities, but without having to hire, train, or manage the staff member. It's been a great benefit to our organization to know that we are using the most current, up-to-date information and techniques without needing to focus on this area.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

There have been no downsides to using FreeWill.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Staffing planned giving

  ### 13. Extremely positive experience with Freewill services and associates

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe L. | Director Of Planned Giving, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

having an addition resource to identify and report expectancies and planned gifts

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

I have no dislikes to using FreeWill - I"ve appreicated the price, service and deliverables.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a small staff in our Planned Giving Department. Having a resource that can help market and identify planned gift expectancies is much less expensive than hiring additional personnel.

  ### 14. Freewill solves the biggest problem in bequest planning

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kiernan O. | Director of Development/Planned Giving Advisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

Free. Fast. Easy. That's the key to it all.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

It's not inexpensive. But this is also actually good, because it ensures you'll do your part to get a return on the investment.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting donors to actually make a will and actually notify us!

  ### 15. Beneficial Benefit for Donors

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

Customer service, ease of creating campaigns

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

Navigation on website, knowing where to go to find what I need

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping drive donors to leave a gift to WNIT in their estate plans. Benefits us because it doesn't take much time out of our busy days to implement and remind donors of the benefit.

  ### 16. An easy and fruitful collaboration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

They are extremely easy to work with from the professional side, and the product is very easy for users to use.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

I wish they provided information on trusts that can be rebranded with our information to be used.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organization of our donors, capturing those that include us and have already included us!

  ### 17. Easy to use for our donors and our staff

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Barbara E. | Associate Executive Director, Institutional Advancement, Communication & External Relations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

The straightforward messaging, the monthly check-in's with our strategist which keep us on track, and the training sessions.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

Nothing at all. FreeWill is a great partner.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We do not have budget for a dedicated planned giving staff member; FreeWill is the next best thing. The ROI on partnering with FreeWill is immediate if you follow your strategist's recommendations (which are easy to do).

  ### 18. An easy platform for all planned giving initiatives.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2024

**What do you like best about FreeWill?**

The platform is all encompassing and provides extra items we didn't know we needed.

**What do you dislike about FreeWill?**

I don't have a dislike off the top of my head right now.

**What problems is FreeWill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Freewill allows us to ask for planned gifts often throughout the year and also provides a free service to our alumni and constituents.
