This makes it possible to align our collections with GLAM best practice while keeping internal workflows clear and consistent. Workflow automation: The ability to create actions, macros, and QA processes saves time and reduces errors. Any technical issues we encounter are promptly addressed by the excellent support team—particularly Kevin, whose assistance is always outstanding. The web-based catalogue also allows authorised staff to access images from any Trust computer, supporting timely access to clinical photography and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care. **What do you dislike about Fotoware?** the latest update doesnt allow you to just hit enter when entering metadata and you have to click with the mouse. luckily the software allows you to use the old system **What problems is Fotoware solving and how is that benefiting you?** storing patient images and control over who can view them ### 3. It's like a virgo!! It has a lot of powerful features, so there's a learning curve when setting things up or navigating all the options. But once it's configured and users are familiar with it, it becomes a very efficient and reliable tool. **What problems is Fotoware solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a tech writer, I have a lot of screenshots, diagrams, PDFs, marketing images, and of course many many documents. And finding something was a task itself, very time-consuming and not beneficial at all. But now with Fotoware, everything is easy to search, properly tagged, and up to date. I can quickly grab the right asset when I’m writing, and I don’t have to worry about using the wrong version. It also makes it easier to work with other teams since we’re all using the same library. Overall, it saves time, keeps things consistent, and makes my workflow a lot smoother. ### 4. It's clear, convenient, and intuitive. What I like most is the keyword archive; just start typing a couple of letters and the entire metadata string appears. It's brilliant. And it also has an exceptional support center. **What do you dislike about Fotoware?** No defects that I have noticed in all these years of use. **What problems is Fotoware solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have to index thousands of photos a year, I have a gigantic archive of photographs for editorial use. Fotostation is indispensable for me to be able to fill in all the metadata fields that are requested by publishing houses, magazines, and newspapers for the publication of photographs. Description, copyright, keywords, date, city, country, and any other useful information to describe the photo and contextualize it in the most precise way possible, allowing those who have to use it in the editorial publication to avoid errors and/or inaccuracies, which in the journalistic sector is a very important thing. ### 5. But even the small parts we do use, the Fotoware team have helped created custom automated actions to fulfil our requirements, when we looked elsewhere no one else offered the custom tailored approach. **What do you dislike about Fotoware?** My only critique of the software is its lack of colour palette changes to the interface. **Recommendations to others considering Fotoware:** Have face to face meetings with them; they can explain how it might work within your organization in a custom way **What problems is Fotoware solving and how is that benefiting you?** We had a problem where we wanted to bring an old database from another source and combine it with the one we had in Fotoware. The technical support team made custom interfaces that allowed the databases to be merged and work even better for quality procedures and checks. All of our content requires a unique number which also combines the date, Fotoware allows tailor made unique numbers. Also, the routing of data based on metadata rules is incredibly good and unique. **What do you dislike about Fotoware?** No reasonable (clarity is not good) log files. This is especially a problem in large IT environments with many servers. Also, working only via UNC path is not very pleasant. ### 11. Customer support is swift to respond and highly knowledgeable. To have the ability to bespoke the system to our needs. **What do you dislike about Fotoware?** The FotoWare App has a limitation which can't be adjusted for the purpose we need it for. The Hospital uses iPads (batons) which staff have to log in and out via the settings. The newer App removes text after upload, however using iPads, staff wouold be required to log the server name, and their log in details each time. **What problems is Fotoware solving and how is that benefiting you?** The system enables Clinicians and Nursing staff to review patient images for monitoring, treatment and diagnosing conditions. It also allows them to upload patient images when the Clinical Photography service is unavailable. ### 12. This allows users (in my case a medical photography department in an NHS trust) to work on multiple 'jobs' at once with no chance of confusion, speeding up work rate. It has a very user friendly interface, which helps train new members of staff rapidly, and even though we can have numerous people working on varying jobs throughout the day, errors are a rare occurance. Even when they do happen, the customer support is very effecient and we are always back up running normally within minutes. **What do you dislike about Fotoware?** The editing option offered through fotostation is limited , and is generally not worth it, though can be used for basic manipulation such as image rotation and brightening. Searches are completed within a glimpse. It is very useful also for our mobile users, we receive our own last-minute photos before any agency send their version. Using the correct metadata also help to find the correct asset in a moment, without the need of the old-fashing folder structures. **What do you dislike about Fotoware?** At the moment we have found no drawbacks in the use of Fotoware, it has been a major improvement from our previous systems (homemade). We are now in the process to install the very last version with the web clients. **What problems is Fotoware solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have been able to integrate all the newsrooms into the same solution. We have installed our DAM in a cloud (AWS) . Our internal and external users find it easy to ingest, search and download images. The use of albums allow us to share images from within our DAM without the need of other tools. We can connect to other systems using the FotoWare API and webhooks. **What do you dislike about Fotoware?** There is still room for improvements for things that from our perspective should be basic functionality in the FotoWeb UI. E.g. better handling of date-time fields and support for bag of structs fields. These are both supported in FotoStation, but missing in FotoWeb, what most of our users use. **What problems is Fotoware solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having all images in 1 ecosystem is a big step forward from file-based image management. One has to check all selected pictures have 'resolved' or else Metadate will miss these pictures. I am so grateful for its simple interface but also its powerful features. Like the very best software, each function is where you expect to find it, and nothing is missing. Under the simple interface though, is an immensely configurable set of macros and templates so I can create speed, automation and consistency to my workflow. **What do you dislike about Fotoware?** It is too easy to suppress the replace /append choice on the add to selection metadata function. So easy that sometimes it appears to suppress itself automatically. Wish that things like concent was a part of the solution not something you have to pay for seperately. **What problems is Fotoware solving and how is that benefiting you?** Keeping our photos in one place instead of all over and even some on peoples own computers. By them being in one place and with the right metadata it make it so much easier for staff to find the right thing when it is needed and cuts down on the time that it takes.
