What I like most about AssetSonar is that it’s user-friendly and easy to understand. It didn’t take much time to get familiar with the platform, and the overall interface is easy to navigate. One thing I would like to see improved is that some of the more advanced features can take a little time to understand and set up. Asset Sonar's use to our environment has allowed us to move away from Sharepoint spreadsheets and into a solid platform to better manage our IT related equipment. We haven't discovered any dislike for the product, as our dedicated rep has been extremely helpful to all our needs. What I like best about AssetSonar is the visibility and transparency it provides across teams. Having our IT asset information centralised in one platform gives us a clear source of truth and makes it much easier to understand what assets we have, where they are, who they are assigned to, and their history.

It has significantly improved efficiency by reducing manual tracking and making information much easier to access. The dashboards and reporting capabilities give us quick visibility into our asset environment, while the customisation options allow us to tailor the platform to suit our processes and reporting requirements.

AssetSonar has also strengthened our audit capability. Having accurate, accessible records and asset history makes audits and reconciliation much easier and gives us greater confidence in our data.

From a cost perspective, the improved visibility helps us make better use of the assets we already have, identify opportunities to reuse equipment, and avoid unnecessary purchases.

Another major positive has been the support. The AssetSonar team has been responsive and helpful when we've needed assistance, particularly when working through configuration or finding the best way to achieve something within the platform.

There isn't much I dislike about AssetSonar — I genuinely can't fault it. What I like most about AssetSonar is its clean and intuitive UI. It’s easy to understand and use without feeling overly complicated. I especially like the ability to filter assets and save those filters for future use.

I also find it very convenient that I can click on an asset to view its MDM details and navigate directly to the corresponding MDM profile. The integrations are another big plus, particularly the seamless way assets can be linked to Jira.

I wouldn’t say there’s anything I particularly dislike about AssetSonar, but there are a few areas that could be improved.

The Audit feature feels quite basic compared to the rest of the platform. It would be helpful to have more functionality and flexibility to make audits more powerful and useful.

Another improvement would be the ability to use existing custom filters from the Asset Filters section directly within dashboards. This would make it easier to build dashboards based on specific asset groups and avoid having to recreate the same filtering logic in multiple places. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The biggest benefit for us is having one place to see what devices we have, where they are, who they are assigned to, and what needs to happen with them next. Before this, that information was spread across Jamf, spreadsheets, Jira tickets, and manual follow-up.

The integrations with Jamf, Entra ID, Apple Business Manager, and Jira make the day-to-day work much easier. We can use AssetSonar for assignments, locations, audits, check-ins, checkouts, and retirements instead of treating it as just another inventory list. It has also made onboarding and offboarding more consistent and gives us a better history of what happened to an asset.

It is not perfect, and data quality still depends on the upstream systems and some edge cases, especially contractors and service accounts. But overall, it has given us much better visibility and control over our equipment than we had before. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The biggest downside is that AssetSonar is only as accurate as the data coming from the systems connected to it. We still run into missing locations, stale syncs, mismatched users or serial numbers, and devices that do not fit the normal workflow, such as contractor or service-account Macs.

When something does not sync correctly, it can take time to figure out whether the problem is in AssetSonar, Jamf, Entra, or the source data. AssetSonar has improved our process a lot, but it still requires regular audits and manual cleanup, so it has not completely replaced spreadsheets and other checks yet.
