ESo Firehouse **Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Public Safety | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2018 **What do you like best about ESO Fire RMS?** It allows for keeping track of all items in FH such as inventory, runs, call volume, personnel and many other aspects of daily work at the fire house. **What do you dislike about ESO Fire RMS?** It is at times not very user friendly at all. I have to make numerous calls to them to get tech support on items that I would normally be easy on other programs. **Recommendations to others considering ESO Fire RMS:** Be ready to call them on numerous occasions for tech support. I will say that there is many times when I call they have to create a new query or report that they have not had and that takes some time. Covid 19 seems to have been a challenge for them with getting back to people on their requests. I do feel that the staff is very helpful and nice though. **What problems is ESO Fire RMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Keeping track of inventory, payroll, daily log of items, trainings, and other department related items. ### 2. But we are working with ESO to find a work-around. **Recommendations to others considering ESO Fire RMS:** Do your homework. They are a good company, easy to work with, and we find their overall direction in analytics to be heading in the right direction. I have a little difficulty with the fact that we need to pay to get our data back out of ESO, as opposed to on-prem solutions that we have had in the past. **What problems is ESO Fire RMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Time-savings, data quality, analytics, and report completion. ### 3. This has created confusion from some of our members not understanding why some EHR reports come over to Fire as Locked and others remain in Draft status. We were told that this issue was being worked on and 8 months post-implementation, it has not been resolved. **What problems is ESO Fire RMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are in the process of building a new fire station and would like to use the data from ESO Fire to help show the benefits to the primary response area. ### 4. They have made a lot of progress in the fire community over the past year. **What do you dislike about ESO Fire RMS?** The fire product replacing Firehouse is not fully where it needs to be yet. You have to purchase multiple solutions to make up for some of the functions lost in the transition from Firehouse to ESO **Recommendations to others considering ESO Fire RMS:** Don't rush, give it some time to let the development get where you need it to be for your organization **What problems is ESO Fire RMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Still working on our transition from FH to ESO at this time ### 5. Can't change the country to Canada too. They have annual conferences that cater to the user and the administrator. They teach you how to be self sufficient with your software. If you do need to contact user support, you get a real person that can tap into your computer via internet and walk you through exactly what you need to do. **What do you dislike about ESO Fire RMS?** Some modules are limited as to what you can add or delete to customize them. For example, when creating the 'truck check' section, I could only add so many items that needed to be checked. On inspections, it was difficult to get a report to print out for the customer that was easy to comprehend. **Recommendations to others considering ESO Fire RMS:** Firehouse has come a long way in the years I have used it. They are now offering cloud based so it can be used from anywhere. It is versatile and easy to use. **What problems is ESO Fire RMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Inspection reports, incident reports, asset inventory. I like that you can set up reminders for annual inspections and they create a notice for the user and materials to send to the recipient of the inspection. ### 11. There is some customization ability and can access the back end SQL databases to build third-party functions. **What do you dislike about ESO Fire RMS?** It is very antiquated and build on a foxpro back end. The report writing is very limited and clunky. Customization is very limited and the scheduling module is extremely confusion and cumbersome for daily operations. The functionalities are limited for most modern organizations. **What problems is ESO Fire RMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having a central place for data collection and analysis. We are able to pull some basic datapoints for operational evaluation. ### 12. They are quite to hard to find and cannot really be changed. **What problems is ESO Fire RMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use this software to enter our daily runs, keep track of changes to inventory, log daily activities and other fire department related items. ### 13. I liked how it was set up. This is not firefighter proof. **Recommendations to others considering ESO Fire RMS:** Have actual users fill out mock reports in a live conference so that software engineers who don't create reports for Fire or EMS can see where the faults are. **What problems is ESO Fire RMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** It allows for reporting to be completed to stay compliant, however the reporting system is not time efficient. ### 18. After setup, user and administrators have a plethora of data readily available that can help better serve administrative and community needs. The user support is top notch and works perfectly on a Windows platform. **What do you dislike about ESO Fire RMS?** The back end work and inputting the street information is painful and incredibly time consuming. I wish there was a way to auto populate. The downloaded updates are optional and can sometimes throw off certain functions or access on certain computers if/when they are downloaded. **Recommendations to others considering ESO Fire RMS:** Have a tech savvy staff member in place BEFORE moving forward. Otherwise it could take months to launch successfully. The AM should offer a more solid implantation schedule to potential users before going live. Consider budgetary needs and make sure all stakeholders understand the technical needs during the actual migration to the software. Training the responding staff and dispatchers may take more time than expected, especially in a city with high call volume. **What problems is ESO Fire RMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Computer aided dispatch.
