# How do Smartsheet admins set sharing and access so people get exactly the level they need?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">I'm putting together notes on how <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/smartsheet/reviews">Smartsheet</a> admins set sharing and access so people get exactly the level they need. Quick sharing is one of Smartsheet's strengths: sheets, reports and dashboards reach stakeholders in a few clicks, with real-time editing across devices. The approach people describe on G2 is granting access deliberately at sheet or report level rather than defaulting to the whole workspace, which is where broader access than intended comes from. Admins in organisations with governance rules would also like finer options between viewing and editing and more control over automatic provisioning, and a planned workspace structure covers most of that.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">For <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/project-management">project management</a> buyers, the useful question is how much of your work is shared outside the core team. Cross-department teams get the most from Smartsheet's openness, and organisations with governance rules, such as school districts or regulated teams, get the same benefit with an access plan set from the start.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">What I'd like to hear from admins:</p><ul>
<li>Do you grant access at workspace, sheet or report level?</li>
<li>How do you handle people who only need to view?</li>
<li>Who checks access, and how often?</li>
<li>What has worked best for sharing with stakeholders?</li>
</ul><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">What would you set up first if you were starting a Smartsheet rollout again?</p>
