Affordable Donor Management Software **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2024 **What do you like best about Eleo?** It's a very straightforward application, the interface it not fancy, it's here to collect your data and have some functionality that is needed when reporting on donors, tracking campaigns, and other standard fundraising activities. However, given the price and what we need it to do, Eleo is exactly what we need and that's why we keep on using it. **What do you dislike about Eleo?** Unless a person is fairly comfortable with technology, and you better be patient figuring out how the reports work, it's not the most user friendly interface. **What problems is Eleo solving and how is that benefiting you?** Eleo is affordable for a small non-profit, and it's not creating problems in our budget. We are able to track our donors, generate thank yous, and categorize contributions for specific campaigns and funds. When we need to generate recognition for our newsletters and when we need to send annual IRS contribution letters, it's a great tool. ### 2. It has a comprehensive set of modules for donations, constituents, and memberships. There are a great deal of reports for every need, organized by module. **What do you dislike about Eleo?** One thing that has been hard for us is that the membership doesn't fully link with the constituent module, so when a membership has expired or is not being renewed, you have to go into the constituent module separately and mark that constituent as inactive. And in the reverse situation, if a constituent is marked as deceased, you have to go into the membership module and change their membership. It's frustrating for our nonprofit when a group of memberships expires, we have to go into each constituent and mark them as inactive so that they don't show as active. **Recommendations to others considering Eleo:** An inexpensive software to keep track of your constituents, donations, and memberships. **What problems is Eleo solving and how is that benefiting you?** Eleo has been a huge benefit to us as we used to try to do it all in Excel. Now we can run a series of canned reports, or create our own custom reports to keep track of gifts, memberships, and constituents. It also lets us see who our major donors are, and watch trends over time. Before, every time a member renewed the old expiration date was overwritten. Now we have a history of every time they renew and we can watch as they increase their membership level. ### 3. This saves so much time for us! **What do you dislike about Eleo?** The flexibility is a little limited, we'd really like to be able to customize titles for the default fields, but unfortunately this isn't possible. Also, setting up the web form could be a bit cleaner and more intuitive, my experience with it so far is that it's very doable, but can be a little clunky, and lacks features like skip logic, which we would love to be able to use. **What problems is Eleo solving and how is that benefiting you?** We had been doing all our volunteer scheduling manually-- emailing with volunteers, manually compiling their availability, and plugging them into schedules-- now, I send out a web form, and then have the system run a report with the volunteers that are available on a specific date and the roles that they perform! It also allows us to schedule several months in advance, so we aren't scrambling to find people at the last minute. ### 4. Members of the Eleo team are quick to respond to my questions and always provide great recommendations on ways to improve my experience. **What do you dislike about Eleo?** I wish when using the donation web form and sending the automatic email that it would mark the donors thank you message as being sent. I have reached out to Eleo support and this is something they are working on for a future upgrade, so I don't foresee this being a problem for much longer. **What problems is Eleo solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before Eleo, our non-profit was manually tracking donors but with Eleo we are able to automate a lot of our process and it provides us a place to store all our donor data. ### 5. It has everything needed to keep more efficient and accurate records of your donors, gifts, and more. It also connects well with other platforms we use like email marketing. Customer service is also great; they are quick to respond to inquires and always helpful. It is also inexpensive making it great for small non-profits. **What do you dislike about Eleo?** I wish there was more design functions. For example, I would like to be able to create better designs for email, letter, and receipt templates right in the system. **Recommendations to others considering Eleo:** For a small donor base, it is fantastic. **What problems is Eleo solving and how is that benefiting you?** With Eleo we have been able to better segment our donors and more efficiently communicate with them. ### 6. The interface is clear and easy to use. I like that I can use different search criteria, such as searching for specific contacts, or searching by campaign. I also appreciated the merge contacts feature when I initially did some "cleaning up"of our database. **What do you dislike about Eleo?** So far, I haven't found any major issues with ELEO. The only small snag is that I'm not sure how to enter Canadian or International addresses, as the fields required are set up for US mailing addresses. **Recommendations to others considering Eleo:** When I had a question, I emailed ELEO, and someone always got back to me right away with a clear answer. **What problems is Eleo solving and how is that benefiting you?** This is a great way to track the nature of each donor's relationship to our organization, which makes it easier for us to communication in a way that's relevant to them. ### 7. When we come up with a need that they aren't currently providing a solution for, they take it to their team to try to figure out how they can provide a solution for us. They are also honest - when they can't do something, they tell us. That is important to me - I would rather an honest answer that I don't like over a "we can do anything" answer that isn't true! **What do you dislike about Eleo?** We have had a need for a few changes to reports & labels. Some of the reports that we need to provide to our board of directors are not doable, meaning that staff must do those reports manually. However, overall, the software has helped us, and saves us time, so having to do 1 or 2 reports manually isn't the end of the world! **Recommendations to others considering Eleo:** Eleo has been great for us - it can grow with us, and the price is very reasonable, so as a small non-profit (12 employees), it is something we can afford. The live phone customer support is wonderful, and they are very responsive. I would definitely recommend Eleo to others! **What problems is Eleo solving and how is that benefiting you?** As non-profit, we needed to keep better track of our donors, and needed an easy to use platform, that staff could learn quickly. We appreciate having a customer service support team that is willing to work with us, and help us figure out ways to best utilize Eleo. ### 8. Their customer service department is superb - very responsive and ready to help. Lastly, the price is fantastic for a small nonprofit. **What do you dislike about Eleo?** The one negative aspect at this time is that it is not mobile friendly nor is there an app. Makes it a little tricky to access information if you are not near a computer. **Recommendations to others considering Eleo:** Don't be afraid to ask questions. They are always so friendly and helpful every single time I call with a problem, and they are always very quick to find a solution or give me an answer. We only launched our non-profit a little while ago, and Eleo has been very helpful in getting not only a database for all of our donors and sponors, but also in managing monthly donor subscriptions, fundraiser events, newsletters, and more. It integrates easily with many of the other programs that we use, including MailChimp, Quickbooks, and Swipe. **What do you dislike about Eleo?** Eleo is a lot to take in at once. It takes a little bit to figure out where all of the options are and how to use them, but thankful Eleo has a great library of tutorials to help us figure out how to do whatever it is we need to do! **Recommendations to others considering Eleo:** Eleo is great if you are just starting because it has all of the features, no matter what size your organization is! The price is only determined by the number of contacts you need stored in Eleo, which we greatly appreciate. **What problems is Eleo solving and how is that benefiting you?** Eleo is helping us to not only store information but manage all of our contacts with donors, sponsors, and potiential partners. Plus, it is great to be able to intregrate that data with event planning, communication, and fincances for our non-profit. ### 10. It always works and is very user-friendly. ELEO immediately stood out to use in its ease of use and superior customer support. Every time we have had a question, a member of the ELEO team has been able to answer it in a timely manner to help us get our data uploaded and learn the new system. They helped us with uploading our data and were able to customize our fields to meet our organization's needs. The process could not have been easier. We are thrilled that we selected ELEO. **What do you dislike about Eleo?** I have not had any complaints about ELEO. Our experience has been overwhelmingly positive. **Recommendations to others considering Eleo:** It is a great donor management and database system for non-profit organizations. I highly recommend it for its ease of use and customer service. While other database systems requried expensive onboarding fees and training, ELEO was more than willing to work with us without adding extra costs for education and support. This was a deciding factor for us in choosing ELEO. Customer service is critical for our success with the technology learning curve and getting the support of our board. **What problems is Eleo solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to categorize our donors by giving level and improve our donor communications and engagement. This has helped most recently for our End of Year Appeal and Giving Tuesday outreach. It has also helped us track our giving. ### 12. When first getting used to the software, I had someone right there helping me along. I never had to wait long to get an answer, which made my work pace so much more efficient. **What do you dislike about Eleo?** I have found nothing that I dislike. There was not much of a learning curve. **Recommendations to others considering Eleo:** Try it and you'll be hooked **What problems is Eleo solving and how is that benefiting you?** Eleo's ease of creating customized reports has solved the problem of double dipping into our donor base when asking for donations. Software that we were using never allowed me to really customize the report to get exactly what I was looking for. I have realized the benefit of not wasting time adjusting a report to get what I need from it. Huge time saver. ### 13. I have used several databases that are either too large or too inefficient and Eleo fits the needs of my organization well. **What do you dislike about Eleo?** I wish that I could use Eleo from my phone. I work part time so I am not always in the office but my director will call with a question and if I am away from a computer, I have to hold off with the answer. I dont think any database can be run from a phone though. **What problems is Eleo solving and how is that benefiting you?** Previously we used excel files and these were then shared among the staff. The data easily gets confused when using this method for events. ### 15.
