The developer's life is made easier by not having to make any code changes to the search capability. **What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?** They are giving very little trial time and charging a premium price for it. They must provide more time to investigate and modify the technology and services they are delivering as a high-priced service provider. **What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?** The full functionality of the website has been deployed, making it easier for clients to solve their problems by simply typing the content they need and quickly receiving the required outcomes. They don't have to look over the entire website to find a straightforward answer. ### 3. Once you have defined your query and fields, you can choose the one you want from a defined widget list and.. you will have a working widget. ELK has been a solid product in the market for a long time, so the bugs in the search mechanism may minor (I didn't find a bug ) In Log4J situation, ELK reacts fast and sends us a report with all clusters that possibly have this vulnerability and suggest a plan. Support is also good. It's answering fast, willing to help, and there is a vast community and documentation for everything. So when you face an issue, be sure someone else has met with the same problem before, and he will probably publish an answer for your case. **What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?** Cost. It's costly to have ELK cluster, even for the most minor needs. Maintenance: We always need to take care of the number of shards, do maintenance and increase the cluster even if we have free space. I took time for us, more than usual EC2 maintenance. **What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?** We need a mechanism for elastic search over millions of documents and a dashboard above this. We used ELK and Kibana for that. Then, each Client got their dashboard link and user management mechanism. ### 4. The important part of it is that it stores the data in a file and thus makes the search more efficient and faster. We can search the table columns, we can also search for the specific text present in the document in a very faster way. but it would have become difficult in the case of relational DB's. **What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?** The thing I do not like is that it takes more time to sync the records. Suppose if I wanted to process say 10k records then it takes more time to sync the docs. Thus it shows some kind of inconsistency between data, but after sometime when we refresh, it shows the correct data. Shard failures occurs so that become difficult to solve. **What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?** Searching made easy with Elastic Search. We can search for anything like a specific value from the document in an efficient and faster way. Easy to Index. Great support of the libraries. ### 6. We use the Engagement Module as well, which is decent. **What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?** Some limitations for styling that don't come out of the box. We had some issues with the Engagement Module pulling a different image (somehow it wasn't pulling the main blog header image) and that was a bit annoying to fix. There was ultimately a solution, but it was not very intuitive. **Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:** You can try Swiftype for a trial period before deciding. **What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were no longer able to use Google Site Search because they started placing ads in the search results, so we had to explore other tools. After exploring Swiftype vs. another tool, this one stood out because of the more robust features with result ranking. We were also able to achieve something we didn't even set out to fix, which was the desire to have a "related content" bar at the bottom of all our blog posts. ### 7. With great power comes great responsibility though... There's a large learning curve to get up and running, but overall it can really be worth it when you need to have powerful search features across a huge number of documents. **What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?** The learning curve can be very daunting (the first ES book was probably 4x thicker than any other programming book I own). **Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:** I'd say it's between Solr and Elasticsearch and es is a much more powerful tool. **What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use elasticsearch to provide search functionality across multiple models on our site... We also use it to power all of our admin functionality.
