**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Akash K. | Sr. SEO Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

It ten-fold accelerates the development of Drupal commerce sites. Lots of configurations, quick setup, but any e-commerce site will need extensive setup and customization. I adore Drupal sites because of how vibrant the online community is. I hardly ever encounter a query or issue that I can't solve simply searching the forums.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

The learning curve for Drupal is lengthy and occasionally unpleasant since it functions so differently from other CMS platforms. I struggled mightily to learn it, but once I did, I was in love.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In comparison to Drupal with Drupal commerce, Wordpress + Woocommerce is more simpler to set up and run. But you'll quickly find that choosing the Woocommerce approach typically requires plugins if you need more than a very basic storefront. Both have advantages and disadvantages, but the Drupal combination gives you almost unlimited flexibility without requiring you to purchase plugins to carry out the same (or greater) capabilities. Like anything else related to Drupal, learning it requires a little more work, but once you do, the possibilities are endless.

  ### 8. Good for the coding “maverick”

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stacy C. | Co-Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

I like that you have the chance to edit whatever you'd like. Very personable. But if you want to have configured stuff where you don't have to put in effort this is not for you

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

I don't like that sometimes it is hard to find a template online. Sometimes I just want to go the easy route with pre done coding and with this it is not the case.

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

I recommend it if you are looking for a customizable commerce solution.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am customizably making my own commerce sites. This is great because I want an unique advantage. So with all the options for design and look alone with the way I accept money this year is a PLUS

  ### 9. Drupal Commerce can be powerful for your business needs

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marianella M. | Director of IT, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

The flexibility and possibilities to customize the tools and pages

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

It is still difficult to compete with more developed e-commerce platforms in the market. We would like to see an easier way for staff to add products, remove and create storefronts that resemble the typical stores in the market. We realize that the type of content we sell (webinars and papers) are not conducive to having such an appealing interface.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to seamlessly have a membership website, with member and non-member pricing by using roles in Drupal, which is really nice. Pages and product pages can share common layout elements, content blocks and content types. This, in itself is really great, and we would like to grow the platform further.

  ### 10. You can reach your personal and teamwork goals in the online business.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patricia M. | Ecommerce Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

This web platform makes the management and construction of your e-commerce site much easier, which, you can include in your sales page basic things like the inclusion of the shopping cart, the checkout stage, the management of the orders and available products, payment options, etc. It's so simple as creating an account for free without need to a credit card like other platforms, and you're ready to go. The features are "tailor-made", this means that it has basic functionalities if you wish, if you are building a small business site, but it also has, if you prefer, improvements in its functions for greater reach in more business sites big.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

Its great disadvantage is the low mobile integration to react to the behavior of your customers and your business. It's a problem is a dumb thing if you are managing everything through your laptop, but if you are looking for versatility in your movements, you should consider some third-party applications such as Apptuse. Another disadvantage is that it is not completely a cloud-based application as others may be, it is necessary to download software.

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

Recommended for anyone who wants their e-commerce to work and be as large as proposed. Suitable for private merchants and businesses of any size. I recommend that you first study what you want to achieve, since many functions and integrations are for a certain type of demand number.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well, obviously this software has helped me a lot in the building of my own online business, but it was necessary the help of some people who are experts in this type of programs, since it requires a lot of previous knowledge before putting live Some functions such as the integration of payment methods. Thanks to this tool, I can accept payments by credit card, paypal, and ACH.

  ### 11. The open source tool that transforms virtual stores into a professional experience.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martha T. | Customer Service Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

I found excellent about this program is its ability to integrate different products and the content of these in a unique way generating a really pleasant experience, thus highlighting those products in a transparent way. It has a diversity of capacities that manage discounts, different shipping options either by country, province, postal code, among many others. Being an open source tool gives you the confidence that a lot of developers and helpers provide support and improvement of its development with the possibility that anyone can contribute solutions and ideas to incorporate.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

I was not happy to find that it is not available in mobile applications, this takes way flexibility when wanting to track your website and view different metrics data directly from your mobile device without having to be in front of a computer or laptop wherever you go. Another thing that I did not like was the lack of inventory management, this functionality would have been very useful when it comes to maintaining a count and managing the stock of your products in a more specialized way without the need to incorporate 3rd party apps for this.

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

If you are looking for a tool that is highly flexible and scalable can be adjusted to the needs that may be presented to you in a short, medium or long term, giving you the ease of developing your commerce website by regularly integrating innovations that you help highlight your products and your brand in general. Content management capabilities in a single panel is a great help to keep everything organized and centralized without sacrificing the modular features it also offers. If you are a user with the technical knowledge necessary to deploy an e-commerce page on your own then this software will be everything you have been looking for.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed a solid and centralized platform that offered me a rich amount of functionalities to meet the various needs that I have. With Drupal Commerce I managed to organize all my products in the way I was looking, with the ability to make configurations of different discounts that I consider very important for any entrepreneur who wants to attract customers and generate more visits to their website, so it's been helpful to have it as my main working tool.

  ### 12. We can create complete online shopping experiences with Drupal Commerce

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt C. | Digital Content Producer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

Being open source is one of the best things I like about Drupal Commerce. Also, Drupal Commerce has most of the features I need to add and manage online shopping products to the extent that I need. Drupal Commerce typically works well across most website viewing platforms including full computer screens and mobile devices. Another significant advantage of using Drupal Commerce is that we can make coding adjustments more smoothly since Drupal is a more open-ended development platform than standard shopping carts and web builder environments.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

There are probably not as many quality templates as I would like to see with Drupal Commerce. I think many of the templates are somewhat generic and may require a lot of development work in order to make them work for our line of products and services.

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

I would probably recommend using Drupal Commerce if you want a more open-ended shopping cart experience and development environment. If you're looking for an online shopping cart that has templates that are more completely designed and polished right out of the box, then you should probably go with one of the web builder type shopping carts.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Drupal Commerce has been an effective shopping cart application that we can use to process orders online without many problems. What's great about using Drupal Commerce is that we can always look for development information online through forums when we run into problems much of the time. Drupal Commerce allows us to reduce costs for creating custom online shopping features. We can create the type of carts that we want through Drupal's advanced customization structure.

  ### 13. i've built over a dozen e-commerce sites using Drupal Commerce and highly recommend it

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erin C. | Creative Director, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2018

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

I've done quite a bit of e-commerce site development with Drupal Commerce and my favorite thing about it is that there is literally a limitless amount of functionality that you can build into your online shops, and there are so many great add-on modules that collectively make for a VERY powerful system.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

It's not rocket science...but you really need to know what you're doing! Drupal commerce can be very overwhelming to set up because there's so much going on, and one wrong setting can really mess you up (once upon a time I missed a setting and my client wound up sending out $3,000ish worth of merchandise without the credit cards actually having been processed.) all of that said though, it comes down to the fact that it's a REALLY big system and you just need to make sure you're dotting your I's and crossing your T's. Maybe a dashboard showing flags for settings that might be a problem would be nice.

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

If you understand how to build a site in Drupal and get the complexity of it, definitely use Drupal Commerce! If you haven't got much technical experience, you're in for a steep learning curve. But if you can handle the learning curve, I highly recommend drupal commerce.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've built everything from ticket sales systems to wholesale product distribution systems with drupal commerce and at the end of the day, it's given us a lot more peace compared to other e-commerce systems because it's so stable.

  ### 14. Effectively extends Drupal capabilty for e-commerce

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

I've been using Drupal way back when and often switch around different projects with Joomla, WordPress and other CMS. I've always preferred Drupal even though it's probably not used as much. Using Drupal Commerce is pretty intuitive and allows me to use Drupal in more projects, e-commerce related and otherwise. More capability, plugin options, extensive settings, customization options, APIs and more.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

It isn't used much and doesn't seem to be a preferred commerce platform. Customizing can be difficult, online tutorials and resources are not as available as other platforms. Can be costly depending on how you plan to scale and integrate.

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

This can be a great tool is you're familiar with Drupal or a similar system. It provides all the standard features you'd expect from an e-commerce platform. Can be a good starting point or for advanced users.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Online sales and management. Being able to customize various commerce setups and extend features of Drupal. Able to move data around various platforms.

  ### 15. Steep learning curve, but worth it

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2017

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

A great deal of "ready to go" customizations to fit any type of store you wish to build. I can create a store for just about any type of product and even services.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

The learning curve for this additional module is pretty steep. Don't go it alone if you are a nivice at Drupal or just a casual user. It will take someone that really understands and can edit the small details of the module in order to get full use out of the module for yiour site. Be prepared with a separate list of products and product information before going in and setting up your products. It will be easier if you have all of the product information at hand and ready to go.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My customer thought they would have to import their site into WordPress in order to use WooCommerce in order to create a store that was manageable. BUT THIS IS NOT TRUE. Once you get past the installation of the module as well as its customizations and details, the day-to-day maintenance and process of adding a new product of service is fairly easy for the casual user.
We were able to help a customer avoid a migration away from security and into WordPress for their site and provided them with an online store and Ecommerce presence for their brick and mortar site/store.

  ### 16. Not the best ecommerce web platform

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2018

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

I liked that Drupal Commerce integrated with a lot of payment methods. You weren't stuck using PayPal and it looked more authentic.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

I think there are better plugins you can get from a Wordpress site than having to use Drupal. You can get free plugins that pretty much do the same thing.

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

Not bad if you have the money to spend.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were trying out e-commerce on our site to tell city-themed products. I liked Drupal Commerce visually. It seemed to flow with the website pretty seamlessly.

  ### 17. Powerful and Efficient - Worked Well for us...

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dorothy B. | Owner & Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2017

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

The large variety of modules I was able to choose from to customize my experience.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

Functionality of CSV/Spreadsheet importing.

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

It's perfect unless you have millions of products to upload like we did.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Drupal gave us the flexibility to run our business more efficiently. The modules are really the best point here.

  ### 18. In the competition of the top most eCommerce open source platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

Open source
Continuous innovation
Multilingual support
Multicurrency support

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

User friencdly but too many modules so sometimes confusing

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

Yes, don't align to product based features otherwise good.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Open source hence free
Easy to change themes
and constantly enhancing

  ### 19. A great platform, but not without its quirks

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jim R. | Owner, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2016

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

Naturally, I love the seamless integration into the Drupal platform, it's as simple as installing a module... cause it is. :)
There's a great option to have an AJAX enabled "single page checkout", which will do all the processing needed on that page.
This is a great option if you know you need a shopping cart but are unsure of what your payment gateway will be, DrupalCommerce integrates nicely with all major credit card options, Authorize.NET, PayPal, etc. Again, just install the module that you need.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

There's a slight learning curve when it comes to terminology for this.
Everything is node based as usual, but you'll have a structure of "Products" and then "Product Displays". At firs,t you'll think they're one of the same, but ... a Product, is a Shirt, XL in Red. Then you use the Product Display to showcase (and template how you like) that Shirt in XL Red. But what if you have another size? Then you need to create another Product to display in the Product Display.
It's a bit of a pain to be honest, especially if you have a slew of items, but the benefits for it are a better means to track your inventory.
But you can definitely tie into Commerce_Hooks and alter what you need.

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

Though robust compared to what is was (ubercart), there's still that feeling of... lacking.
If your site is a content site that will sell goods and services, then dive all in, you'll need the integration with your other content.
If your main goal is to sell and then tie in a blog down the road, Magento might be a better option for you.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving a client a reasonable, streamlined shopping cart that will work with the Drupal Bootstrap site they already have in place.
The expansion and customization via hooks and templates are great. "Recently viewed" and "Other's purchased" options are things clients want now-a-days, and this gives me the option in my native Drupal environment.

  ### 20. Drupal Commerce pretty good out of the box Commerce with ability to extend

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

The ease of setting this to get you up and running as an online store. Plenty integrations for payment gateways, reporting , etc

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

The back office doesn't have the best user experience, it works and can be used yes but we had to tweak it

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

quickly getting an online store up and running

  ### 21. A great system with near infinite possibilities.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard D. | Web Developer, Libraries, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2016

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

I love the flexibility of Drupal commerce being built into a scalable CMS like Drupal. All of the other eCommerce solutions that I've used are strictly good at eCommerce, but all the other required website features were near impossible to achieve.

By integrating Commerce directly into Drupal, you now have the best of both worlds!

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

There is a bit of a learning curve to get everything set up and configured just the way you like it. If you have someone to walk you through it or follow a video it's not that tough to figure out, but definitely not as simplistic as some of the eCommerce only platforms out there like Shopify.

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

I would fully recommend getting very comfortable with Drupal before evening considering Drupal Commerce. Spend the time learning all of the setup and admin functions that Commerce has to offer or you will be lost once you start building your site.

There are a million different features that can be added to Drupal Commerce via 3rd party modules. Learning how to integrate those can be challenging, but is definitely worthwhile. Having a PHP Developer on staff or readily available will certainly make your life much easier when certain bridges need to be crossed.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're able to build an online platform that not only offers eCommerce, but also integrates an event management system. This was only made possible to us after learning about Drupal Commerce sans the idea of having two separate web applications, which just didn't make sense to us.

  ### 22. Not Only E-Commerce But More Than That

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rajeev K. | Software Developer, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2016

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

E-commerce feature along with other possibility due to power of Drupal. It can be extended to any customised e-commerce CMS working along membership management, booking management, paid content management etc.

In one one - Flexibility.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

Nothing I can think of now. After using Magento, WooCommerce etc, I found this to be exactly what I want as Developer. But for new user, there can be learning curve.

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

If you are fan of Drupal, having some specific requirement in hand, maybe you are expecting to extend features in future thenI would bet, Drupal Commerce would be the best thing to adopt. Being part of Drupal framework, everything you got as add-on(module) to extend features on your website is free of cost. BTW, have you heard of Drupal community? If Yes, then no need to explain about available support & help, which you can expect while developing with it.

(Note - Coming from a expert who has used several other e-commerce technologies)

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have worked with Drupal Commerce for last 3 years & was part of team developing several e-commerce with complex functionality such as paid membership management, paid course management, pure e-commerce, books selling cum renting solution etc. And I have always found the power of Drupal with e-commerce while used Drupal Commerce.

  ### 23. Developing and maintaining Drupal Commerce for customers

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2016

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

The admin backend is pretty flexible. Maintaining products is flexible and adding additional information to products and products display is pretty straight forward.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

Themeing drupal commerce is real pain and migrating data into the store from external sources is poorly documented. Due to the poor documentation and complexity of how drupal works I can be really time consuming to track down bugs in the code.

**Recommendations to others considering Drupal Commerce:**

If you have skilled Drupal Specialist to handle the implementation then Drupal commerce might be a good fit. You will probably need a agency or a developer on a contract to handle customizations if you will be doing integrations with other products such as external ERP system.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Webstores for customers
Online sales
Syncing data from external ERP system into drupal commerce ( Microsoft Dynamics Navision )

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

Drupal commerce gives a flexibility which you expect from Drupal. It has integration with entity API, fields, views.
has a good architecture of separated product display and product entity.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

Checkout form is too custom - hard to change anything.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use drupal commerce for e-commerce websites development.
It is quite flexible, suits to any kind of e-commerce website: from classic (with catalog and cart) to custom (without a catalog, cart, but with customazible products).

  ### 25. Great service for Drupal developers to add eCommerce to a website!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Drupal Commerce?**

I like that Drupal Commerce is based off of Drupal - as a Drupal developer, I am biased, but it is just that easy to spin up an eCommerce site when you are already familiar with the underlying Drupal system.

**What do you dislike about Drupal Commerce?**

Since it is Drupal, it tends to get a bit slow and clunky at times. This can, however, can be alleviated by having a good hosting provider that has expertise in handling Drupal - like Pantheon or Acquia.

**What problems is Drupal Commerce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating an eCommerce website with limited knowledge in the field of eCommerce, but immense knowledge in the Drupal content management system.
