Ease of use, speed to bring new product features live, exceptional support on Slack and otherwise, competitive pricing, AI features that lets us interact with the numbers in a way that was not possible before and integrations with the financial tech stack that we already work with with little to no lift on our side. Some of the AI features took a long time to come to GA, while other platforms have made even creating reports and financial plans fully agentic, Drivetrain still retains the older interface with only a chat with data feature which is now outdated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We implemented Drivetrain to replace Power Plan and support budgeting, forecasting (scenario planning), 3 statement reporting (P&L, Cash Flow, Balance Sheet). Our workflow includes dashboards, Budget vs Actuals reports, GL Drill-downs, Forecasting with Commentary.

We find it very easy for non finance budget managers to find their numbers and understand their variances. We had to develop our own internal training to help users navigate these tasks. Users have commented that the interface is easy to navigate and intuitive.

We use a google sheets upload to integration daily. Our GL is FE NXT. Drivetrain is where end users get their actuals as we do not have unlimited users in the GL software.

Divetrain is blank slate budgeting and reporting software where everything is designed how you want it. Performance is excellent after the upgraded back-end database enhancements in 2026.

Pricing is very competitive and comparable to our previous software. So the ROI is excellent as the system is the next generation software which also includes the AI functionality. Our integration file wasn’t included in their list of modules. We currently run flat-file exports of our FE NXT GL Transactions and Paycom employee data, then drop them into Google Sheets to sync with Drivetrain.

Mapping is still somewhat manual as new data comes in and new projects and departments are created. Those items have to be mapped by hand into our hierarchies.

Another pain point was the time zone difference during implementation and support. Drivetrain is flexible, but we’re in EST, and if issues come up around 1 p.m., support isn’t always readily available.

We also had to go through several iterations of our dataset before we finalized our models. As a result, some legacy data ended up in their dimensions that we didn’t actually need.

AI is still learning and slower than Chat GPT.

Lastly, as they roll out updates it can impact some reports or functions you thought were final. One example is formatting and coloring of reports. I used color themes on the reports, but an update got rid of that and now allows you custom color the reports which I rather pick a theme then manually make the them for everything. - Reporting: Drivetrain has allowed us to automate a majority of our financial reporting, from board decks, monthly closes, flux analyses, BvAs out to budget owners, etc. It has already saved us significant time, only a handful of month after beginning the implementation process.

- Powerful & Flexible Forecasting Capabilities: Drivetrain has very flexible forecasting models that allowed us to build our entire forecast, from top-line, expenses, balance sheet & cash and all be interconnected with eachother & our other systems. The formula writing is intuitive and has a short learning curve when transitioning from excel.

- Implementation: The implementation team has exceptional expertise and provides fantastic customer support. The implementation was smooth and we were up and running with all of our finanical models, custom dashboards and reports in a few months. The team was always available and great to work with.

- Integration:We were able to integrate seamlessly with our key systems, Salesforce, NetSuite & GSheets. This integration streamlines our financial processes and ensures that data flows smoothly between different systems.

- Collaboration: As a Finance team member I wanted a tool that serves all of my forecasting & reporting needs, but also wanted something that would allow for cross-functional collaboration. Drivetrain's reports are perfect for this with features like tagging people in comments, user level restrictions, customizable & visually appealing graphs, charts & tables.

The moment I saw Drivetrain, I knew it was exactly what I needed to help align data structures, combine data to get combined KPIs from disparate sources, get beyond cell count/row limits in google sheets and excel. The team is second to none in their responsiveness, the velocity of new updates and features, their ability to take feedback and have it in product in a matter of weeks is truly impressive. Implementation was quite easy, well supported, and the ongoing support has been extremely helpful and valuable. Integrations and connections are straight forward and most are a few clicks away from ingesting the data. I use the tool on a daily basis and it has been very helpful to get Hubspot, QBO, sheets, excel data all under one roof. The DT team is very collaborative to help find creative solutions in getting to the desired end result. The positives outweigh the negatives by a mile. The negatives usually come because I want to use the tool for things it wasn't intended for initially like sharing information to external parties. There are a few nits that are getting fixed around filtering and field names vs underlying field IDs. It would be nice to have more direct ability to push visuals into google slides to update visualization. But overall really happy with the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Multi-dimensional reporting - reports (graphical, tables...) and information can be presented across multiple currencies, entities easily. Support and onboarding is superb. Able to integrate with key systems plus excel/ google sheets. Drive AI - saves a massive amount of time by prompting to create reports, resolve formula queries etc. Non-seat based license. Drivetrain is able to connect to many different data sources which allows our model to update dynamically and stay accurate. Their AI has improved substantially since we began using the product and is able to provide meaningful insights about our data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One downside about drivetrain is having to rip out old systems and replace our old model. However, Drivetrain's standard implementation of ~2 months ensured this process didn't take too long, unlike other financial modeling tools which had 6 month implementation schedules. I really don’t have any complaints about Drivetrain. They release updates pretty quickly, so sometimes you need to adapt, but they do a good job of keeping you informed about product updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Drivetrain has helped us move away from Excel for reporting and budgeting. We’ve been able to generate a lot of useful insights for different teams, and it’s also allowed us to automate much of our reporting process, which has made things more consistent and easier to manage.

The implementation (& overall customer support team) has been very smooth and there was an amazing collaboration with the team to bring us up to speed and allow us to be mostly self sufficient. I'll change the question and say what features I'd love to see to make the tool even better. A key one for me is to have selected filters carry forward to the board/model more easily. The software is quite intuitive. The onboarding and ongoing support are the best I’ve seen from any software provider, and any questions or inquiries are resolved immediately.
