Dotcom-Monitor is a synthetic monitoring platform built around web application monitoring, using real-browser testing to confirm that websites, web applications, and APIs work correctly for actual users. Founded in 1998 and based in Minnesota, it runs checks continuously from more than 30 locations across 6 continents, combining outside-in visibility with private, behind-the-firewall monitoring in one platform. Web application monitoring is the core. The EveryStep Web Recorder captures multi-step user journeys without coding, so teams can monitor login, search, cart, and checkout flows the way customers experience them. Scripts run in real browsers with full JavaScript rendering, validating dynamic content and single-page applications, not just whether a home page responds. Page-load waterfalls, element-level timing, and performance reports show where a transaction slows down or breaks, and screenshots and video capture the exact failure for faster diagnosis. API monitoring covers REST, SOAP, and GraphQL endpoints, along with imported Postman and Insomnia collections. Multi-step API workflows chain requests and pass dynamic data between calls, while response checks validate JSON and XML payloads using JSONPath and XPath. Escalation policies, on-call schedules, and maintenance windows keep notifications targeted, and acknowledgment and resolution tracking keep incident state clear. The user interface is verystraightforward. Setting up monitoring for my applications was a easy, and the step-by-step guides were very helpful. The reporting feature is very detailed. The visual graphs and charts make it easy to understand performance trends and identify issues easily. The ability to customize reports to suit specific needs is a good feature. What do you dislike about Dotcom-Monitor? One thing I dislike is the cost. It can be very difficult for small businesses, and even for larger setups, it can be quite high. Dotcom-monitor allows a lot of flexibility to organisations, you cand have simple monitors or really go in depth to monitor devices/website funcitonaility. It is very flexible allowing you to modify where and how often your devices are monitored and who/how to alert. When we were reviewing Dotccom-Monitor, we started with the trial and added a test monitor to see how it would work, it was literally seemless. The interaction with the support team was there but we really didnt need it as implementation and setting up even advanced monitors was really easy. We used the product for approximatley 5 years. During that time my team raised 3 tickets, generally to exand on some of the how to guides as our requirements were very specific. Each of these tickets were handled promptly and we found support to be very knowledgable. We did not require any integration as the out of the box monitors were fine as they were. The only slight integration we needed (not really an integration) was that we used a company called to-text.net to convert emails to SMS messages. This allowed my team to share a mobile device when they were scheduled to be on call and recieve sms alerts when Dotcom-monitor found a fault with a device. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Dotcom-Monitor? We used Dotcom-Monitor previously (previous company, 3 years ago) and I was looking to see if there are any changes sine then. I prefer the previous interface but I suspect that is just because I was used to it and am sure I would get used to it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Dotcom-Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you? We arent planning on using Dotcom-Monitor, I am a previous long term user with my previous company. I was looking at it again in case we need to change out current supplier. I am confident it would comfortably cover all our monitoring needs should we ever decide to change our supplier. Previously it helped us to keep to our SLAs for our websites. Prior to having external monitoring there was nothing to alert us to server/network issues and we were reliant on an internal monitoring solution. However we had multiple issues wherby we didnt get alerts to issues outside of our control. e.g ISP issues, mail delays etc.... We reviewed several solutions at the time but found Dotcom-monitor the quickest and easiest to get up and running. As we developed an international site for a manufacturer of machinery, we got notice of reliabilty issues on some other parts in the world. Ease of use to be able to add and configure devices, a lot of granular level options to monitor and also with the alerting. The scheduled summary reports are fantastic too. Very smooth sales and onboarding experience. The team genuinely focus on advising the functions, features, etc to meet our requirements rather than just upselling the product, which is great. We also use a lot of 3rd party API integrations.
