## DigitalOcean Reviews
  ### 1. Best cloud provider for beginners

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deepjyoti R. | Cyber Security Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean is easy to use, with a clean interface and simple pricing. Setting up servers takes minutes. A strong community make it friendly, reliable, and great for beginners.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Sudden account lockouts, limited OS choices and unexpected data deletion.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Digital Ocean ease cloud setup by making servers simple to launch and manage. Its clear pricing, easy scaling help me build and run projects without budget or technical issues

  ### 2. Long time customer, still going strong

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vee D. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Love the fact that they are one of the most transparent providers. I've been with them since 2016, regularly. Contemplated moving to AWS but I cannot deal with the complexity for now.

Some products can make it expensive but the ease of use and implementation makes me want to stay.

Moreover, their blog is always updated - which requires less support and customer service emails!

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Wish their functions section was a little bit easier to debug. Had to go back to my own personal VPS functions because DO Functions wasn't easy to debug.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of setting up "droplets" - VPS
Plus, excellent support. Love the fact that they even have a discord server.

  ### 3. Very easy-to-use interface and instant response droplets

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I like how easy it is to create and destroy droplets. I also like how reponsive the servers are – every change or request is instant. This makes it effortless to implement complex applications including complex web apps. The uptime is just so good.

I feel the best part is the pricing. I run a small business and DigitalOcean's packages are quite affordable.

Customer support is always available and responds within a reasonable time.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Every experience I've had with DigitalOcen has been wonderful. I can't think of anything I dislike.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like the freedom DigitalOcean gives me in terms of how I can use my droplets, especially the VPS droplets. Within a VPS, I can install and uninstall any program I want seamlessly. This helps me manage a website or a web app without any daily attention. In fact, I usually set this up once and it keeps on running forever. This is exactly how I like it.

  ### 4. Stable and easy to use cloud solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Ease of use, basically instant set up of new droplets or other products, straightforward approach on accessing your resources. Essentially it's set and forget, which is the best.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Pricing, lack of granularity on upgrading/changing configuration of products. There is a lot of options for droplets, but as a one-man hobbyist I just need a small enough server with non-standard RAM size, and I am locked on a config that's not ideal for me. Same for the database, it is a pain to set up some advanced use cases, or it's impossible at all (like implementing a specified PostgreSQL extension).

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Offering easy to use and set up droplets (VPS) with remarkable stability.

  ### 5. Awesome service, performance and cost somehow very technical but totally worthy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** J. Antonio A. | Product Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I like everything is super clear about the costs and features you'll get. There's also a lot of tutorials in blogs in youtube so it was then easy to use, implement and then integrate with my stuff. Getting some coupons for start was the key to me to migrate my services here, it felt like no risk and their Customer Support help me with a couple of questions. Security and Stability were another factors to consider, because of the nature of my frequent use of the service.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Even DigitalOcen offers different easy-to-config options, it can be perceived as a hard choice for tech people with few time or the regular people who just want to set a website or service.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped my with my concerns about security, having all my services in one place with affordable prices without being scared of a mistake or bad configurations.

  ### 6. Great AI Offerings, But Integration and Pricing Could Improve

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Range of offerings including AI inference engines

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Sometimes the offerings are not as integrated as I would like (load balancing, VPN, etc) or seem unnecessary (forcing us to have to pay for db storage for AI knowledge bases for instance)

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fantastic services at a great price for a small business

  ### 7. Simplicity of a product that works

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gerardo B. | Co-founder. COO y Administración de los servidores, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

First, it fulfills its functionality with a low or almost nonexistent learning curve in deploying new implementations. It provides us with services in which we trust and place our work day by day, minute by minute since after the pandemic. Thanks to Digital Ocean, we are online with our proposal and reach our users throughout Latin America and part of Europe. We really feel very comfortable here and are not interested in changing providers in the medium term (nor in the long term).
Before becoming Digital Ocean customers, we already consulted all the good documentation from the community, which has been and is very helpful to us, especially at the beginning of developments and when adopting new technologies.
We have used customer support very few times, almost never, and we have always received the best attention, solving and clarifying the various issues.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

We regularly use droplets and our development is quite punctual, so we feel that today and in the medium term it meets our expectations. I would like it to have more services like AWS does, but we wouldn't be taking advantage of them today. In the future, we might need some tools to scale or increase productivity, but technology is advancing very quickly these days, and it's possible that we will also be covered with the new features.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to stay online without a large team of professionals in charge of the startup and daily maintenance. Its productivity enables us to carry out implementations that would otherwise be out of our reach.

  ### 8. Feels like you are really working with other developers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan P. | Company Director, CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The number one reason I like DigitalOcean is that you feel like you are working with other developers. Yes they have commercial marketing, but it's quite, not 'in your face' like other providers.
Just as much a number one reason is cost, where else can you get a cloud presence for $6/month that is professionally maintained, easy to use and in my case, after almost 7 years, never let me down.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Honestly, it's difficult to think of anything negative. Yes I've had the odd issue, but between their excellent documentation and their customer tech support it's never been an issue to the extent that I've experienced with other providers.
There's a few extra's that I would like to see like domain registration, all in all a good place to be for a developer

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is quick and low cost to spin up a droplet, try something and take it down again. The vurtual private environments are another great feature. The GUI is very intuitive, esy to use.

**Official Response from Faiza Zia:**

> Hi Jonathan,

We're so glad to hear that DigitalOcean feels like a collaborative space where you're working alongside other developers! That's exactly the community we aim to foster.

It's fantastic to know that our cost-effectiveness and reliability have been such a significant benefit for you over the past seven years. We truly appreciate you highlighting the ease of spinning up droplets and the intuitive GUI.

Your feedback about wanting features like domain registration is valuable, and we're always looking for ways to enhance the developer experience. Thanks for being such a long-standing and positive part of the DigitalOcean community!

Best,
DigitalOcean

  ### 9. What AWS should have been

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** P B. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean (DO) is amazing for one fact - its super simple to use. AWS, while powerful, gives me a headache trying to figure out what things mean or how to use them. DO has been amazing in that regard - its easy to spin up servers or new services, and hardly requires any babysitting. It runs 90% of our company, and has for years.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

There isn't much to complain about here. I guess a few of the services could be a bit cheaper.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to quickly spin up a server or app with minimal effort.

**Official Response from Faiza Zia:**

> Hello there,

Thank you for contacting DigitalOcean. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out.

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that DigitalOcean's simplicity and ease of use have been such a valuable asset to your company. We really appreciate your feedback and are glad we could help you focus on what matters most.

Kind Regards,
DigitalOcean

  ### 10. Excellent serivce for a fair affordable price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Linus . | Game Designer / Game Lead Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

We use Digital Ocean to host Perforce Helix Core version control for unreal engine 5. DigitalOcean provides a very affordable service for our small team with good plans to choose from.
We use it for our whole development of games, therefor it's great to choose only what we really need and have the option to easily expand our plan when needed.
The implementation was easy and we had no struggles.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Sadly (as far as we know) you can only see how much space you are already using in percentage and not written like: 20GB/25GB. That would be a great addition if you can't keep track how much space you provide to a droplet.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using DigitalOcean as a cloud infrastructure provider for our version control Perforce Helix Core in active development. We were searching for a scaleable, affordable and easy-to-implement service, that fits our small gamestudio needs.

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Web UI is very intuitive and easy to use. Resources are readily available and performance meets expectations.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Not the cheapest option for large servers but still good value.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm in need of low cost, good performance, easy to operate and maintain, virtual private servers. Digital Ocean offers exactly this (plus much more).

  ### 13. Best at this price point

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yash T. | Full Stack Engineer Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Being a student, having a server/ vps to host my projects gives me an edge over others in my field and digital ocean makes it possible at a great price.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The console log in for accessing droplet is not the best yet.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting my projects is very easy on digital ocean vps.

  ### 14. It's reliable and easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

It's reliable and easy to use, there are lot's of useful features with reasonable price and high quality

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I didn't have any issue with DigitalOcean so far.

  ### 15. Simple and Elegant

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** PeterWolf D. | General Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

We switched from Azure to DigitalOcean couple years ago. We find its design and plans suitable for a small software design team like us. It's very flexable to increase disk or RAM spec as the company grow.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Software teams do a lot of POC projects. Sometimes we would need to test the performance with different spec settings. In DiditalOcean, we can only "increase" the spec (bigger disk, RAM, machine..etc.) but not "decrease" the spec. That brings some inconvenience.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy and fast setting shorten our preparation time for service.

  ### 16. Excellent VPS Provider

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I love being able to easily spin up/down servers. The cost is super transparent so I always know exactly what I am going to be paying. On top of all of that, they have excellent uptime and service. Other VPS providers frequently go offline and are not reliable but DO is definitely not one of them! I have been using them since I began my business and I wouldn't go anywhere else!

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I haven't run into anything that I don't like. Honestly! I have never had a single complaint about their service.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can easily spin up/down servers for testing. This prevents me from having to manage and host my own servers. That saves me time and money to prevent having any headaches about servers.

  ### 17. Awesome and budget friendly experiance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Its really easy to use digitalOcean and the budget options are really user friendly also we can manage the servers without any hazzel. We have many vps in our accounts and we use it for almost every our protucts. Since we get the whole vps to our self it is really easy us to configure it to way we wanted. Implementation is also more easy with the digital ocean since we use it for our all integrations. And the cutomer support is really good even thought we haven't use it much when we need the support they helps us.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

We have no control over the vps port from the digital ocean portal

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its act as a our serverhost provider

**Official Response from Faiza Zia:**

> Hi there,

Thank you so much for your positive feedback! We're thrilled to hear you're finding DigitalOcean easy to use and that our budget-friendly options are working well for you. It's fantastic that you're able to manage your servers smoothly and that our VPS solutions are supporting your diverse product needs. ### 18. All-in-one Cloud Infrastructure Provider

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bagaskara Wisnu G. | Chief Executive Officer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean is our top provider for cloud infrastructure services like virtual machines (or droplet), storage system that supports S3 protocol, and much more!
We are very much delighted with their relatively quick support and there are tons of tutorials on their knowledge base website for easy implementation and integration with pretty much all tech stack available in the internet.
Their easy to use cloud dashboard makes it a breeze to do most of the things that made it being used frequently.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

At the time of writing, DigitalOcean is still not supporting digital debit cards that our bank platform provides which makes it a lot more complicated to add balance to our account.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean solves all cloud-related issues with their integrated cloud console which can do pretty much everything.

  ### 19. Great UX

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maksymilian S. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The platform provides an excellent user experience (UX), making it intuitive and enjoyable for customers to navigate and interact with. The products offered are well-designed and meet high standards, ensuring that users receive items that not only look appealing but also function reliably. Quality is a clear priority, as seen in the durability, craftsmanship, and attention to detail in each product, which enhances customer satisfaction and trust in the brand. This combination of great UX, high-quality products, and consistent reliability positions the brand as a strong, customer-centric choice in its market.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Prices are slightly above what would be considered reasonable or competitive, suggesting that there may be opportunities to either negotiate a discount, look for alternatives, or adjust expectations based on the current market trends.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of use

  ### 20. Straightforward and cost-effective solution for hosting small to mid-scale projects.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I work for a small project to host files and like their transparent and predictable pricing.
Helpful documentation and community support
Performance and uptime reliability are the most important reasons we chose DigitalOcean, as our mobile app requires constant file access by users without interruption.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Some users may also find the billing model slightly opaque, especially with bandwidth overages.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me, it’s helped speed up deployment, reduce hosting costs, and focus more on building products rather than managing infrastructure.

  ### 21. Affordable and High-Performance VPS Hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

As a long-time DigitalOcean user, I can confidently say that it's the best VPS hosting provider for anyone looking for a balance between price, performance, and reliability. I use DigitalOcean for my web hosting, and I recommend it to everyone I know because it offers premium-quality VPS at an incredibly affordable price

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The only minor downside I’ve experienced with DigitalOcean is that sometimes I had to look for tutorials outside their platform to solve specific issues. While their documentation is extensive and constantly improving, certain advanced configurations or troubleshooting steps required me to search on third-party forums or developer blogs.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean solves the challenge of finding a reliable, high-performance VPS hosting solution at an affordable price.

  ### 22. My Expereince with Digital Ocean

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emmy G. | Senior Systems Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The top notch services for a very affordable pricing.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The fact that I get good grace period for payments

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me, It is the 99% uptime since I barely have good hosting and cloud services over here

  ### 23. Easy to use and flexible

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** carolyn a. | IT Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Digital ocean is great for bringing up a server quickly. It's compatible with an incredibily large selection of images and makes provisioning anything from a VPN to a mail server very simple. Also very easy to upgrade specs and manage usage.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

It can be expensive to run for long term usage. Some images are outdated.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast acquisition and provisioning. Easy to deploy and upgrade services, saving time and stress.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

hosting and scaling of our web applications

  ### 26. Moving away from the service based architectures, and back to the GOLD old monolythic approach

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dimitar V. | Lead Full Stack Developer & DevOps engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

As major platforms like AWS and Azure increasingly emphasize service-based architectures, which can quickly escalate in cost, DigitalOcean offers a streamlined approach focused on essential tools. This enables the development of robust, scalable monolithic or semi-monolithic structures by minimizing dependency on additional services and plugins while still covering core requirements.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Lack of off-server backups, especially for databases and static files. I would appretiate the ability to have an easy to use automatic daily or weekly backups of my database to Dropbox or Google Drive, same for static files, compressing them and uploading backups to Dropbox or Google Drive.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Affordable and simple solution for hosting large platforms, simple and easy to use ecosystem of tools, hands-on approach rather than having a UI wizzard that which usually complicates things while trying to minimize user error. Cloud providers should assume that the user who use their products are skilled software engineers and will not make a mistake

  ### 27. Friendly and easy to use cloud provider

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bogdan S. | Senior Linux System Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The UI is very user friendly, simple, easy to use and intuitive. The prices are decent and the quality of service is really good. Overall it's my cloud provider of choice

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Support is sometimes slow to answer and provide really stupid answers (not always, but it happens)

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have migrated all the bare metal servers to cloud virtual servers to simplify backups/snapshots and management

  ### 28. Fast shipping of web applications and services for my clients

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

My experience was really great shipping my client's web application and services thanks to tools like App Platforms and Droplets. The configuration of the resources that DigitalOcean is offering is really great and simple to use.
I was surprised by the simplicity of App Platforms specially, with a few clicks I got everything working and without concern too much about security, latency or other topics that are somewhat cumbersome on other platforms. Automatic backups, uptime and monitoring are also a relief.

I think DigitalOcean it's really suited for fast shipping, specially for developers or companies that doesn't have a big DevOps/SRE team, or the need for more complicated architectures.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

If I have to name some, I would like that monitoring alerts had more ways of distribution, not just slack and email (and these limited by the emails registered on the platform).
Also I would like that the terraform provider for DigitalOcean had API parity, things like functions are not available that way, I thinks that nowadays IaaC (Infrastructure as a Code) is really a standard, so naturally I would like DigitalOcean to pay more interest to mantain it.

Besides that I can just name that the documentation was limited on some cases, I know that document a platform is hard, specially when there are a lot of possible cases to attend. In this case the forum was really helpful anyway.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean is helping me to solve my clients need about having a easy maintainable infrastructure for the services my team is developing, also mantaining a strong secure and reliable environment. I've never had a problem of avalability on the services I've implemented on your platforms. Also your platform gives the most transparent prices on cloud services until now, I'm happy to avoid awkard conversations with clients about unexpected costs that weren't clear.
Also it solved a lot of pain about scaling my services, everything's is simple and fast.

  ### 29. Cost effective and reliable

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I liked that it was easy to set something up. I used them from it's beginning and it's been working wonderfully. I've used it for a variety of projects and it hasn't let me down. I also like their tutorials, it's been a good resource for the Linux community. In general, I would recommend it for anyone working on personal projects who doesn't need the managed services of the other clouds. They are constantly rolling out new features and managed services, lessening the need to manually set up services like databases, Kubernetes, and more.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Their Terraform support was lacking in the beginning, and still has some ways to go. I have experienced 2 hardware failures for the same droplet, though for any production use you would use high availability.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's solving the need for me to have a presence on the web. It also supports my personal projects and hobbies cost effectively.

  ### 30. Excellent tools for machine and application virtualization, stable and reliable.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evaldo E. | Social Media Evaluator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean's platform is very well structured, with great overall application stability

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

lack of support for Windows operating system

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

support for server virtualization and Wordpress applications

  ### 31. Great options for fair pricing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ádám N. | Software developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The user interface is clean and on point and loads fast unlike google cloud or amazon cloud! There are low tier options as well as high tier ones, also gpu options being worked on an introduced is a very welcome feature one less reason to use google cloud's service ( expensive and really troublesome to set up ). Droplets are really nice that can start at low spec for testing for simple tasks but can be scaled up easily when needed, I've only used droplets so far so can't say anything about the other offerings.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

So far? Nothing really, even if I try to think about it really hard, nothing comes to mind at the moment.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's super easy to get a simple server up and running and easy to deploy to it so it helps with low cost and time saved with deployment and on top of that haven't really experienced downtime.

  ### 32. DigitalOcean is by far the best option for any startup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mahesh W. | Founder, Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

As an independent developer who takes on mid-sized projects, I don't recommend anything other than DigitalOcean to my clients. It's a no-brainer if you have used DigitalOcean at least once. Integrating your locally developed applications to the cloud is mind-blowingly easy with DigitalOcean's structure. Pretty much every cloud application I have ever developed is currently hosted on a DigitalOcean Droplet. So their services are something I use on a daily basis.

The first thing you'll notice when you sign up for a new account is how great their web dashboard is. It is so unbelievably user-friendly when compared to any other service provider. Their whole Droplet implementation is so easy to use that you can whip up a cloud application within a matter of minutes. Everything you'd struggle with other cloud providers is so simplified here. You pretty much have a zero-worry setup. You can turbo-charge that whole process with Terraform as well. I observed that Terraform plays really well with DigitalOcean and that allows me to automate almost everything in my deployment process.

Their prices-to-performance is so good too. I can confidently say that it's unmatched. I've never felt like I'm paying too much for what I'm gaining from their services. It's a bargain. I've only ever needed to talk with their customer support just once and their speed of problem solving is admirable. You don't have to worry about anything. One great thing I have to mention here is, they're incredibly lenient when it comes to missed payments. They don't add fines and give a long grace period for you to clear your bills.

Highly recommended.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I have only ever had one issue with DigitalOcean and it's also very recent.

DigitalOcean's network infrastructure has always been rock-solid and they always deliver on their promises. However, I recently noticed that they have throttled the outbound transfer rates significantly. If you have an application that requires constant heavy data transfers at a steady rate, this would be a huge issue. They promise a 10Gbps connection to droplets so I think that should be honored even if the connections are shared.

One extra annoying thing I'd like to add to this list is how the referral credits expire. Why does it expire? It's a credit account that lives digitally. We as your loyal customers have earned those credits and it should be available for us to use at any point in time. It's not like the credits could go bad like food.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy deployment for developers like myself and such good value for clients who are looking to provide web-based services.

DigitalOcean has also significantly removed the unnecessary complexity when it comes to starting up a cloud VM.

  ### 33. Awesome for StartUps

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Diego C. | Data Scientist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean is an amazing place to implement and test your ideas and if they pan out bring to production! It is very simple and intuitive!

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Nothing so far! I have been using it for a few years and so far I had no major issue!

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At my level of commitment, I hit no major problem that DigitalOcean hasn't fixed

  ### 34. A reliable service with lots of support and tutorials.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I found DigitalOcean easier to use than other platforms. Another important aspect of it is the support and the tutorials that make setting up a project easy and straight-forward.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I would love a way to backup my droplets on my machine. Couldn't find any easy way to do it. Lately I've been using containers, so this is not much of an issue at the moment.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean provides me with a relatively cheap way of hosting my different applications. They provide the option of upgrading a droplet's specs to better suit my needs, which is quite the treat.

  ### 35. Easy to set up and customize, and extremely efficient!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anton C. | COO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I've used DigitalOcean for various personal and professional projects, and I'm really glad to have found it.
The VMs (droplets) are really easy to set up, customize and destroy - and they've got a lot of ready-made droplets according to your configuration and requirements.
When troubleshooting, the console and statistics available online come in really handy.
The SSH key generation is quick and simple, which makes it easy to integrate droplets into CI/CD workflows.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

They are a tad more expensive than some of the competitors, but I'd say that the price is still very competitive.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Various virtual private servers with various configurations, according to the requirements and use.

  ### 36. Software developer / enthusiast loving DO

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2025

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DO was my entry point to server management (and further DevOps-ing and whatnot related). Its easy-to-use interface, abstracted hardware bits, and helpful documentation helped me take my first steps and deploy my first apps manually.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Nothing to complain really, it's a tool I go back to quite frequently when I want to get something done without much fuss.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean eliminates the hassle of hardware setup, giving me a clean, minimal system I can fully customize. It strikes the right balance between abstraction and control, letting me focus on building and deploying without unnecessary overhead.

Reliability and quick deplyment into a stable scaleable platform.

  ### 38. Digital Ocean Best Cloud for Business

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chamroeunrith C. | Director of Information Technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Stability since i have using more than 2 years of Droplet and Kubernetes.
The price is good if compare with another cloud provider.
The configuration and setup is fast and easy provision, save time on configuration.
Fast customer support, raise up the ticket and fast response.
I have using it everyday for kubernetes system and droplet, region singapore is stable.
The feature is great enough for business especially the market app, and integrated app easy to use such as backup, and s3 storage.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The problem i am not satisfied is about pricing even droplet shutdown but still charge as flat rate.
The role and permission is still limit if digitalocean can improve more will be great.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we have moved from kuberntes local to digitalocean kubernetes as its stable and enough public ip to use, also easy to configure and scalable, it work very well for us. we use 8-11 nodes of kubernetes node and very smooth.

Clear and vanilla charging with no bill shock, reliable services, excellent documentation. Good support for new tech such as Kubernetes and App platform. Common sense approach to security. Good value for money.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Load Balancer (LB) does not provide deny accesss. Rackspace will deny for CIDR IP range. Neither do the provide input for HTML to be displayed if all attached droplets fail.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The infrastructure costs of maintaining physical servers. Facilitative interface for monitoring servers which aids resource allocation and security.

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Affordability and also easy navigation if the platform

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

They don't have yearly plans on the servers , I couldn't find any

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are solving the cloud hosting problem and because of it we can now easily deploy our solutions to the internet

  ### 48. Easy to use, not intimidating to first time users

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oluwatumise A. | DevSecOps Engineer/ Research Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Unlike other popular cloud providers, Digital Ocean does not overwhelm users with a plethora of options that all do the same thing. What I value the most about Digital Ocean is the product documentation they have created. It is more than just product documentation; it is a knowledge base for the average engineer.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

In contrast to top cloud providers, Digital Ocean does not exactly offer pay-as-you-go pricing.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had to switch from Heroku due to cost. For a while now, digital ocean has served the majority of our needs.

  ### 49. We have instances running for 10+ years without issues 💪

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oleg P. | CEO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2024

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Flexible and easy to use for users with basic tech skills on a daily basis. The pricing is reasonable, and the service is stable with good support. They offer a wide range of solutions, from a micro project with Functions to a small project with a droplet, and even a large project serving millions of users monthly using a dozen droplets and a load balancer, all at a reasonable price.
I’ve had dozens of droplets there for many years.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

It’s hard to imagine the cons, but there’s always room to improve pricing 💰. We had an issue with a droplet that had a blacklisted IP. However, DO support worked well 👌.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can setup new projects with DigitalOcean from the proof of concept stage and scale them when they get millions of users.

  ### 50. Great products, great support
