Datree is a CLI tool that supports Kubernetes admins in their roles by preventing developers from making errors in Kubernetes configurations that can cause clusters to fail in production. Our CLI tool is open source, enabling it to be supported by the Kubernetes community.

**What do you like best about Datree?**

Datree has a host of integrations for CI, git, VSCode, Kustomise allowing users to find issues with Kubernetes manifests as early as writing them in VSCode and during deployment in a CI pipeline. The ability to create custom rules for certain policies is helpful allowing customisation based on the organization/project needs. History of all scans provides information about tracking the misconfigurations, although the UI lacks several features for a better experience with results. Datree also sends an email report with monthly/weekly/daily performance reports, which helps stay up to date with our Kubernetes manifests

**What do you dislike about Datree?**

The ability to find misconfiguration of clusters and not just manifests would be an excellent addition, making Datree a single tool for Kubernetes misconfigurations. It is not possible to view scan results per application or cluster in the Datree UI. Filtering capabilities for the history of the scan are not available as well in the UI.  Datree lacks ways of sharing the results with the team or collaborating with the team for fixing/tracking misconfigurations.

**Recommendations to others considering Datree:**

Although the CLI provides excellent features for scanning and staying alert about the misconfigurations, the UI might not be the best solution for multiple clusters/applications and to be able to filter/view results efficiently.

**What problems is Datree solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Datree to find Kubernetes misconfigurations in our CI pipeline before the manifests are applied to the cluster. Developers use the Datree VSCode extension while creating/modifying the manifest files. The official Github action is used for the scan in the CI pipeline and the results are written to an XML file and viewed in Github through third party actions.
