Mistakes can be easily corrected. This, in and of itself, makes it far superior to all other accounting programs. It is also fairly easy to find where the mistakes are. It always reverts to month-end as default date rather than current date. I have even made inputs to the wrong file because of some weird glitch, so I have to be very careful when doing transactions. Two people can work on the software simultaneously without problems. It is in the cloud so I can work at home to enter dockets. Recommendations to others considering CosmoLex: Quickly address and implement regulatory gaps or shortfalls. For example, Form 9A is required for any form of electronic transfer between Trust and Operating account. Also, there should be an allowance to transfer between trust and operating account instead of restrictions to pay invoices (eg. LSO rules allow transfer between trust and operation accounts in advance of covering Land Transfer Tax and other real estate fees). The current restrictions force me to add these amounts as an expense to invoices and inflate my invoice amount (which also makes my invoice different from what I send to clients). I can't edit (or haven't figured out how) the invoices after they are created. For example, sometimes there is information I do not wish to have on there (ie: past invoice amount). But I change it as a PDF and that has worked for me, but would rather have the ability to edit the doc in Cosmolex according to what it looks like after it is created. The client portal is great! I like how I can see so much at a glance. The intuitiveness is great, makes it easy to find a matter without having all the details at my fingertips. I would also like to see the reports be more interactive, where I can jump to a related report by simply double-clicking on a value or column. More ability to customize reports and save filters for reports would also be extremely helpful. There is nothing I dislike, it is a great platform but it could be improved with embed credit card payment link into trust retainer requests and outstanding invoice reminders. Docketing is up, cost recovery is more accurate and thorough, clients pay quicker (time is money!), and clients love the security of the client portal enhancing their confidence and comfort with our firm.
