Over the years I've come to despise the Envato model which expires credits, doesn't let you use credits toward Envato subscriptions, refuses to take any proactive steps with abandoned products (e.g. a product was abandoned two weeks after a purchase and Envato support presented a series of hoops and challenges to make it nearly impossible to get a refund). You know how when you're burned twice (let alone three times) you want nothing to do with a business? If there is something you want your website to do, there is a plug in for it, and CodeCanyon has it. From simple to advanced things, you are almost guaranteed to find what you need. **What do you dislike about CodeCanyon?** With so many plug-ins available, a lot of them do the same or similar things. Not all plug-ins have a lot of detail or demo to see them in action, so you can spend a little money only to find out that's not exactly what you wanted. So, a little more research may be required. **Recommendations to others considering CodeCanyon:** Do a little bit of research before purchasing a plug-in. Also, be aware that there may be some free plugins available. Also be aware that troubleshooting of anything purchased through the site falls back onto the developer, so the quality of support relies on each individual developer and some are more helpful than others. **What problems is CodeCanyon solving and how is that benefiting you?** I utilize CodeCanyon to design and develop our company website. ### 27. We lost a specific feature that would have taken my team two weeks to recreate and test. I've been able to pick up great little standalone products instead of scouring Google to find ones that might not work. I've picked up a number of great packaged code projects to use in personal and commercial products. **What do you dislike about CodeCanyon?** Sometimes it can be hard to know if the product is going to do exactly what you want, and they aren't great about refunds, so research is key. Luckily most of the products have interactive demos that you can explore pretty thoroughly. **Recommendations to others considering CodeCanyon:** Do your research. They have a lot of solutions for a lot of projects, and it can be easy to get overwhelmed. In a small shop with just a couple developers, this saves a ton of time for us. **What do you dislike about CodeCanyon?** Sometimes it's hard to figure out what a piece of code does from the cover/description used. The other Envato sites like ThemeForest are much clearer in terms of what a specific theme etc. does. I feel like CC has a bit of a disadvantage coming from programmers not designers. **Recommendations to others considering CodeCanyon:** I'd recommend all of the rest of the Envato sites like ThemeForest and PhotoDune - they are all amazing and help us so much in our work. **What problems is CodeCanyon solving and how is that benefiting you?** We're using CodeCanyon instead of a. doing everything in wordpress b. spending way more time hand coding everything for each site we do.
