I really like how it has greatly improved backup speeds on large EC2 instances and enhanced recovery speeds for both volumes and full instances. Its ease of use is fantastic, and the customer support is great. It's one of the best vendor relationships I've experienced. If an issue arises, they are quick to respond, dig into it, and assist us. Whenever we uncover a bug, they work with third-party vendors on our behalf to resolve it, and it gets patched very quickly. The initial setup was very straightforward, involving only a few IAM role deployments and some policy configuration. **What do you dislike about Clumio?** Some of the reporting and task tracking can be cumbersome at times. **What problems is Clumio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Clumio greatly improves backup and recovery speeds for large EC2 instances, either in-source or to any account. They provide proactive notifications when support notices issues to ensure backups are completed correctly, and no data is missed or lost. Clumio support is very responsive and always available when you need assistance. In addition, Clumio gives us the ability to set our own backup interval and retention policies to ensure compliance with our DR plan. In 2022, Clumio made several changes to its platform and licensing, and we have since moved away from the solution. **What do you dislike about Clumio?** A more detailed restore dashboard with details on how the restore is progressing. We have been using them for VMC (VMware on AWS) backups to satisfy the off-site requirement, unlike the other backup providers at the time who all wanted you to use vSAN storage (technically on-site). Like any startup, they had some growing pains, but we were in it together and worked with them to resolve things. Their platform is really nice and easy to use. Worker VMs are a little finicky sometimes to deploy, but not complicated. Once set up, they've been solid. I could go on about their VMC offering, but unfortunately, there isn't much of a point. If the other aspects of their product have been given the same love, I expect you'll love those too. **What do you dislike about Clumio?** They decided to discontinue the product and not tell us. We found out by accident from another one of their customers. It always comes back to me after poking around, but maybe it could be more intutive to find my VMs. **Recommendations to others considering Clumio:** Highly recommended for backing up office 365 data and mailboxes, also highly recommended if you want a clout based backup for your VMware virtual machines and data. **What problems is Clumio solving and how is that benefiting you?** backing up office 365 messages and data was a concern and clumio has easily solved that issue. Also we were looking to have a cloud based backup solution to go along with some on-site backup and recovery in case of something drastic. Clumio has been excecellent for that and is easier to use than our on prem solutions. ### 13. Before we purchased Clumio we were told the cost would never go up then all of a sudden two years later they changed their licensing and the cost nearly quadrupled. Fast and efficient backups. Backups can be archived for a very long time, up to seven years. **What do you dislike about Clumio?** Technical support personnel have heavy accents, making it difficult to understand them when working with them on the phone. Most of the time, however, I worked with them through email. Despite the language barrier, their tech support is top-notch. They have been able to solve every issue we've had thus far. **Recommendations to others considering Clumio:** Stay away from Clumio, they don't fulfill their promises **What problems is Clumio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Getting backups offsite to the cloud. Cost increases for previous backup software (Veeam) were significant. No longer need on premise hardware to store backups so savings on equipment, plus software. You can't ask for better software with a team of people to make sure it's all working for you. We recently updated our Clumio cloud connector on our VM, my boss and I set aside the whole day for this upgrade... well, it took all about 5 minutes with how easy Clumio set it up for us and gave us proper instructions. You won't be sorry, try it. From there you can go to the GUI and view all VM"s and choose which ones to back up. Also, there is proactive monitoring, so you will be contacted if there are any issues. **What do you dislike about Clumio?** You cannot restore files directly back to the production VM. It has to be downloaded from the Clumio portal. **Recommendations to others considering Clumio:** Clumio is a great DRaaS solution for companies that don't have the physical infrastructure for a DR site and need a DR solution without the high capital & maintenance costs. **What problems is Clumio solving and how is that benefiting you?** With Clumio, we can meet our DR plan of having an offsite copy of all of our VM's on the cloud for a certain retention period without the headache of maintaining our local site branch DR site in the past. ### 16. Some of the pages don't appear to have dynamically created content and you need to refresh the entire page to view the new content. **Recommendations to others considering Clumio:** The UI is not very click friendly. The front end needs user polish and a modern feel. It gets the job done, but it's a bit clunky and cumbersome to navigate. **What problems is Clumio solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a better solution than what Veeam was able to provide. Clumio allows us to be flexible and just tag a VM in vCenter and it automagically seeds in Clumio and a day later we have a backup chain that I can restore files. We wanted backups stored off-site in an immutable capacity. That way if a bad actor got access to our account, they wouldn't be able to compromise our backups as well. Continual improvement in the product. They've added some features we've requested as well. Haven't really needed support much, but we've had good experiences so far with them. **What do you dislike about Clumio?** Only limitation or issue we've had is the max VM size when you get up into the terabytes level which prevents us from using it for some of our larger VMs. Integration directly into vCenter would be great. **What problems is Clumio solving and how is that benefiting you?** We've increased our backup retention while at the same time reducing costs considerably vs our previous provider. We've also experienced far less issues with failed backups. ### 24. They control the backup account and we cannot delete any of the backups. Cost - Deduplication causes the solution to be more cost effective than other backups which are just snapshot managers SAAS - You don't have to spin up backup servers and maintain them Portability - Databases use true SQL backups instead of RDS snapshots. Servers use true file level backups Monitoring - They proactively open a ticket and let you know if something is not getting backed up correctly **What do you dislike about Clumio?** We stared using the RDS feature when it was in beta and have been very happy with it. Clumio is rolling out new features at a quick pace and here are two that would be nice to have in the product and I believe are on the roadmap: - More advance reporting for a backup that consists of many different AWS accounts - Ability to backup S3 buckets **Recommendations to others considering Clumio:** Get a demo and ask questions. The technical way the solution works is better than what a lot of other backups are doing. **What problems is Clumio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Problem: Replace internally created backup scripts that have to be upgraded when AWS introduces a new RDS version. Others: We looked at a number of other backup solutions and they either required us to maintain the cloud servers that ran the backup service or they were just a snapshot manager. They also required us to maintain the separate AWS account in order to get an airgap between the production and backup accounts. Benefits: Simple to use which saves on time, has lowered our cost for backups and given us a higher level of security due to the Airgap between our accounts and the backup account. ### 26.
