GREAT SOFTWARE TO TAKE YOUR CREATIVE ENGINEERING SKILL TO THE NEXT LEVEL **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Mirz B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2023 **What do you like best about CDS Visual?** The best part about the software is that you can develop product models for any marketplace with the product configurator tool, your customers can change specs as per their desired needs, even for the product's aftermarket spare parts, Customers can see the catalog and explored drawing of the product whether its technical or non-technical. **What do you dislike about CDS Visual?** The cost of the software is a bit high, sometimes CDS server take a bit long timeto respond. **What problems is CDS Visual solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a manufacture, we used to spend a lot time in the RND, sometimes we produced useless spare parts or products in multiple dimensions just to get accurate results but this sofrtware made it easy and real quick,therefore we started to use this softeware to eliminate this issue, now we do not have to produce useless parts or products for the RND purpose, it saved us a lot of time and money as well. ### 2. Its features do not cater to our needs. The software is less user friendly and difficult to navigate. There have been issues, with the CDS server, performance is not commendable. **What do you dislike about CDS Visual?** The configurator tool provided by the software has limitations that necessitate customization work or payment for access to its full functionality. Theres really nothing to complain about. Any minor issues related to the CDS server can easily be overlooked. Although response times can occasionally be unpredictable its still manageable. Overall I have no concerns to report at the moment. **What do you dislike about CDS Visual?** The catalog tool does have some limitations. It requires compromises in order to achieve customization. Moreover utilizing a tool, for complex product configurations comes with additional costs. Its important to research and evaluate the level of tool needed in order to avoid wasting time and money due to over or underestimating requirements. **What problems is CDS Visual solving and how is that benefiting you?** DS Visual effectively addresses the challenge of creating appealing websites. This is the easiest project I've managed. CDS was organized, accurate, and had good suggestions for approaching design/UX problems. The output of their work provides a real competitive advantage. They are good and handling complexity. **What do you dislike about CDS Visual?** Nothing to dislike. Our timeline got pushed back a little, but I think that was due to some changes on our end and some of our source model files needed correction. Worth the wait to get things right. So nothing to report. **Recommendations to others considering CDS Visual:** Check out CDS even if you have custom products. They can handle the complexity. Great for manufacturers of standard, semi-custom, and custom products. **What problems is CDS Visual solving and how is that benefiting you?** Website users and customers can quickly get the exact model they need, any time. They can get the exact size that they need without having to manipulate the file on their end. It also saves us engineering time. Customer doesn't have to wait for us to send a model. It's all about making it easier for customers to do business with you, and of course, saving customers time. ### 11. Each 3D CAD model is available in numerous CAD formats and can be imported into 95% of CAD solutions. We offer over 20,000 SKUs and the CDS ModelServer handles each product with excellent detail. **What do you dislike about CDS Visual?** There is little that I believe is an issue with the CDS ModelServer. It would be great if we could index these files with Google. **What problems is CDS Visual solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a supplier of mechanical components, many of our customers request CAD models to determine if our products will meet their design requirements. The ability to point our customer to our website and have them download the CAD model, in the format of their choice, is a huge benefit. ### 12. That means response time on issues runs between nearly immediate and... days. **Recommendations to others considering CDS Visual:** There are two levels of products, at least. A flat file product catalog database and a full-bore configurator tool. If you go with the Catalog tool, just be prepared to do some compromise on your ideal, and/or be willing to pay for some extra custom work if you want to push the product - whether by CDS or one of their partners. Don't expect the catalog product to work like a configurator if that's what you really need. Its a selector and shopping cart - a powerful one but still with limitations. If you need to configure highly complex product, then you'll need to pay up for the full configurator. But do your research with respect to your real need. Overscope and you will pay more than you should. Underscope and you will waste money and time while you gradually realize you need a more powerfull tool. Fortunately, CDS is honest and very helpful in assessing up front what level you need to buy into. The same goes for any of it's competitors. CDS is in my view the best solution for the money.
