## Buildxact Reviews
  ### 1. Easy-to-Use Estimating Program

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul H. | Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Buildxact?**

It is easy to use, allows you to create estimates, convert them into purchase orders, track variations, and monitor your margins. It is a great product for our building company and has helped streamline the way we manage projects.

**What do you dislike about Buildxact?**

I am not sure the margin calculation is correct, as GST should not be calculated on the margin.

It would also be helpful to have the option to lock in a fixed dollar margin amount, spread across the estimate, rather than only being able to apply a percentage margin.

In addition, estimating notes should flow through onto the purchase orders, as these notes often contain specific details about how items are to be ordered or supplied.

**What problems is Buildxact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am unaware of anything being resolved by buildxact, we spoke about the margin calculation issue, but not being resolved.

  ### 2. All-in-One Tool at an Unbeatable Price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Buildxact?**

What I like most is how easy it is to use and how the price is so much lower than comparable offerings. Having all the tools in one platform is great because there's nothing else out on the market at this price point that has everything Buildxact has. The estimating module is fantastic and very familiar compared to what I've used before. I rely constantly on the templates and material libraries, and being able to build formulas custom to the work we do is important since we don't fit into the typical type of work that's in most standard unit rates. Being able to get live pricing directly from vendors is super awesome. The web accessibility has been the most valuable for me since I can access it on any PC or phone with web access, which lets me respond to clients' needs no matter where I am and manage estimates while working in the field with our teams at the same time. The low cost keeps our overhead low and lets us put more money in our own pocket. I also appreciate the service from their team whenever we run into any hiccups; they're always very quick to respond and resolve any issues that come up. I once had a project that ended up with a shared job number across two different projects that I couldn't resolve myself, and they had it corrected and back to normal within the hour. The initial setup was very easy too, their team had us set up in a few days with all our current projects live and ready to use.

**What do you dislike about Buildxact?**

{"I had a project that somehow ended up with a shared job number across two different projects and could not resolve within the system.","I would appreciate a document control module to better handle RFIs and other commercial project documents.","RFI status tracking and electronic submission of RFIs would be extremely helpful."}

**What problems is Buildxact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before, we needed multiple pieces of software to run our processes, which led to errors, extra steps, and inconsistency. Buildxact puts all the tools in one spot for a consistent, professional look. Web access lets me manage estimates in the field, and the low cost keeps our overhead down.

  ### 3. Game-Changer for Residential Remodeling: Easy cost tracking and user defined costings

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian Y. | OWNER OPERATOR, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Buildxact?**

Software is designed specifically for residential remodeling. Integrations with home depot keep budgeting and cost tracking simple. Ability to custom make invoice design and quote packages with html formatting is a game changer as well

**What do you dislike about Buildxact?**

inability to take payments from buildxact invoices within the application itself, still have to rely on a third party to do such task.

**What problems is Buildxact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

cost tracking was done with excel before, estimates were also done within excel and was extremely time consuming and did not look the most polished and refined when delivered to the client. the ability to make your own quote packages with your exact numbers that you can use during takeoffs is huge.

  ### 4. Powerful Templates & Integrations, Promising AI — Needs Smoother Onboarding and Stronger CRM

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben M. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Buildxact?**

The templates are very good time savers, once setup. The templates also help streamline estimating for our newer team members, and make it much easier not to overlook anything.

The Home Depot integrations assist on pricing and ordering, when practical.

The invoices and estimates are very professional and efficient to produce.. The ai function is still a bit quwerky, but has great potential.

**What do you dislike about Buildxact?**

It is a little clunky to learn as a system, and having a more robust CRM side would be helpful.

**What problems is Buildxact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Estimating and doing blueprint takeoffs are very strong for Buildxact.

  ### 5. Powerful, affordable estimating; needs improved scheduling and proposal flexibility

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John H. | Chief Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Buildxact?**

I use the estimating feature most often. While it's limited, it still offers the most tools for the money.

**What do you dislike about Buildxact?**

The scheduling is hard to use. The estimating module doesn't support civil scales and doesn't allow any calculations on a single line item. If I want to measure wall area, I have to measure the wall in linear feet, then manually multiply it by the wall height with a calculator and convert the result to square feet, which is pretty cumbersome. The proposal section is very limited: I cannot remove page numbers, and I cannot set allowances on a per-unit basis. These limitations slow my workflow and force unnecessary manual work.

**What problems is Buildxact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I do not have to do my estimates in excel

  ### 6. Simplicity Lost, Frustrating Experience

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Buildxact?**

I appreciated Buildxact's simplicity, particularly on the estimating side. No matter what size project, the estimating function was simple yet very accurate. The more I used it, the more repeatable everything became. The scheduling function was also simple, with no fuss, yet it had all the info needed and presented a professional schedule.

**What do you dislike about Buildxact?**

The entire take-off and estimating function are now unbearable. If I'm part way through an estimate and want to review a past take-off, instead of simply clicking the tool button and being taken directly to the take-off, it reverts to the take-off page where I have to sift through the pages to find the take-off. Any updates that have been done over the past 24 months have been horrendous.

**What problems is Buildxact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Buildxact for estimating and scheduling. Its simplicity in estimating makes projects of any size manageable and provides very accurate results. The scheduling feature is straightforward, containing all needed info and presenting professional schedules.

  ### 7. Buildxact Excels at Estimating and Quote Generation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rod H. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Buildxact?**

Buildxact is a great estimating and quote generation program, whilst it does have some limits with financial tracking and site programs etc its strengths lie in estimating and quotes

**What do you dislike about Buildxact?**

buildxact is not all inclusive for onsite works, whilst linking to safety programs and whilst being able to send out for quoting etc , often what is seen at other users scene doesnt look as good as it could when sent through buildxact

**What problems is Buildxact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

buildxact is speeding up the programs with use of auto scaling etc, the downside is that over the recent months ive noticed the program is slowing down and often buffers

  ### 8. just passable

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Buildxact?**

Estimating and takeoffs is great. However it lacks when connecting with purchase orders and invoicing

**What do you dislike about Buildxact?**

that it always seems to miss the last 10% of having an actual automatic process even though the information is sitting in buildxact

**What problems is Buildxact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The takeoff/estimating component of buildxact is still great. This was the selling point when we started 5 or so years ago though. Would be great if other areas picked up

  ### 9. Efficient Invoicing and Great Integration with Xero

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Buildxact?**

I love how Buildxact holds all line items perfectly in each category and ensures all invoicing and contract amounts are correct. Billing is very easy on both cost-plus and fixed-price contracts. The neat interface and good printouts it provides are valuable. I appreciate that it is almost impossible to make errors with payments, ensuring no overcharging or undercharging of clients. The online client portal is good and they keep updating it, which is great. Integration with Xero is smooth, and the initial setup was very simple.

**What do you dislike about Buildxact?**

As its web based my slow internet connection slows down entering information as fast as I can type.

**What problems is Buildxact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Buildxact organizes all line items and ensures invoicing accuracy. It simplifies billing for different contract types and includes an online client portal. Its integration with Xero works great, and it prevents payment discrepancies.

  ### 10. Buildxact’s Estimating and Quote Tools Make Tasks Faster

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Buildxact?**

I like the system’s estimating functions. The setup process is intuitive, and the AI helps speed up tasks as well. Another thing I enjoy is the way Buildxact presents quotes, along with the ability to modify them so I can change what the client sees.

**What do you dislike about Buildxact?**

I would like it more if the scheduling side of tyhe software were a bit more user friendly. specifically i want to be able to view in full screen, zoom in and out more effectively, and see the timeline of every project on the same screen, and where potential overlaps are.

**What problems is Buildxact solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Buildxact has taken our average estimate time on a new build from 6 hours to about 15 minutes.
