The catalog, although it seems extensive, is often based on texts that have been widely circulated for some time, and new titles do not appear very often. Furthermore, the application is designed to make you listen to what they recommend and not what you have chosen to listen to. What I love most about Blinkist? The sheer variety of books—from mindset to money moves—and a customer service team that actually listens. If I had to nitpick, it’s that sometimes I wish there were even more niche titles. But the ability to read along silently or follow visually while listening is a huge win. The summaries are simplistic, I wish there was subject matter outside of self-help, Lack of diversity of authors summarized. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Blinkist solving and how is that benefiting you? It does not solve a problem, when I am in a self-help book kind of mood I can see what blinkist has recommended based on previous recommendations i have gone through and see if there is a book I want to dive into. however, be aware that there aren't a lot of diverse reads recommended. For example, there is a whole spirituality section but you won't find Iyanla Vanzant, Howard Thurman, Michael Beckwith or any other black spiritualist - but you will find Wayne Dyer or Louise Hay. This is a bias that is glaringly noticeable and mildly offensive. The same goes for financial self-help they only recently got We Should All Be Millionaires. Blinkist fails to understand that people of color need to take advice from people of color because other self-help books are not taking into account privileges and biases that work in the author's favor. Also, you will not really learn anything from their summaries, use their summaries as recommendation guides to see if you want to read the book. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
