ANSA - beast for professional preprocessing **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2025 **What do you like best about ansa?** You can do CAD cleanup, meshing, model setup, and connections all in one environment. It can handle messy CAD data. Advanced meshing controls like the control over mesh size, quality, and type (tet, hex, prism, shell, etc.) is excellent. It allows python based scripting for automation of repetitive tasks which is a big time saver for large models. Works seamlessly with Fluent, STAR-CCM+, PowerFLOW, NASTRAN, LS-DYNA, and many others. Rarely crashes even with huge models — that’s a big plus compared to some other pre-processors. **What do you dislike about ansa?** Not more dislikes about ansa. But few are there in list. Licence is quite expensive for small companies and freelancers. Initially the interface can feel overwhelming with lot of options to find right function. I faced lag on complex operations like wrapping complex geometries. **What problems is ansa solving and how is that benefiting you?** For any simulation preprocessing is a challenging one. This involves geometry cleanup, meshing and model preparation. ANSA solves these steps for us. It will be useful to support complex mesh workflows, managing large assemblies with PID and part management windows. Topo mode is very effective is cleaning up geometry.
