A great mobile testing tool supported by a knowledgeable product team **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** ian T. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2018 **What do you like best about Apptimize?** Apptimize has many great functions including a reliable visual testing tool and a powerful programmatic editor with which you can build many testing driven product decisions. **What do you dislike about Apptimize?** There isn't much to dislike about the platform. I'm looking forward to the many amazing features to come. **Recommendations to others considering Apptimize:** I would consider Apptimize for anyone who is interested in making data and testing driven decisions in their product development or acquisition roadmaps. Apptimize is unique in the sense that it allows you to build small visual experiments on things such as buttons, colors, or images or large experiments on the usefulness of entire new modules or user flows. **What problems is Apptimize solving and how is that benefiting you?** We're looking to increase the number of subscriptions purchased in the app, increase the tenure of our already existing subscribers, and improving many in-app experiences and products. We also have used apptimize to test push notifications in order to increase the percentage of users who are opted in. ### 2. There are several benefits of the tool: 1) setting up your own test success metrics and funnels. Apptimize allows developers to designate success metrics for each test and then provides the dashboard to make it easy to compare those metrics across variants. 2) Managing tests. Ramp tests up, turn tests off, turn tests on. Feature flags. It's all there and they continue to invest and improve 3) Relationships. Apptimize invests in their customers, listens to our feedback and offers advice on our ab testing strategy. **What do you dislike about Apptimize?** It's important to monitor your app performance after implementing Apptimize. **What problems is Apptimize solving and how is that benefiting you?** A/B testing and feature rollout on native mobile apps. ### 3. We've released plenty behind feature flags which is really great for us to target and optimize experiences from CRM campaigns, to deep functionality as well as testing new ideas and validating them quickly. **What do you dislike about Apptimize?** The dashboard could do with some work. It would be great to have a quick overview of all my environments so i can see what is happening at a glance rather than have to go into each environment. **Recommendations to others considering Apptimize:** It's powerful, reliable and most importantly provides valuable insights that are actually actionable. Fantastic service level too. **What problems is Apptimize solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rapid experimentation and growth hacks are fundamental to the growth of our business. We need to be able to test fast and implement winning experiments or kill failing ones quickly. It's all about cadence and it's allowed us to grow a culture of experimentation and optimisation inside our business. ### 5. We ended up subscribing to Optimizely to perform that task. **Recommendations to others considering Apptimize:** make sure that you have figured out how you want to handle analytics, push notifications, install attribution, and web experiments - there are a lot of vendors with overlapping products in these areas. **What problems is Apptimize solving and how is that benefiting you?** This has helped us identify the impact of changes we are making to our apps - both to the retention and usage of the apps. It also helps us incrementally roll out new features to ensure that things are working well before all of our users get the new features. ### 6. The flexibility that this SDK promises may clash with fancy custom widgets that your programmers developed. Note that you cannot use only part of this SDK, it's all or nothing. Questions are addressed in timely manner, and the Apptimize team genuinely want to see us to realize the benefits of A/B testing. The service team actually performed tests for us to show what kind of benefit we could be seeing. **What do you dislike about Apptimize?** Integration with m-particle is limited. Ability to map user based actions to user behaviors is somewhat limited. User interface has been buggy. The startup cost outweighs the usage, want a full service solution, I don't want to have to admin the campaigns, just want to see results for the service we pay for. **What problems is Apptimize solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have found just by switching the text on a few buttons and fields we were able to dramatically change user behavior. ### 8. One thing that I would love in the product is a web testing platform. **Recommendations to others considering Apptimize:** Go for it if you are looking for a tool that caters to your mobile AB testing requirements. **What problems is Apptimize solving and how is that benefiting you?** Using this product, I am trying to improve KPIs like conversion rate, usage, and retention. ### 9.
