I work with Animoto to create visual presentations at the end of each semester and content for my academic social channels. It runs smoothly even on modest devices, and I really appreciate the large library of royalty–free music, the ability to save custom templates, and a solid collection of images that add fresh, high–quality visuals to my work. I struggle a lot with fonts and some templates though they are useful but there are some limitations, and it is still expensive, mainly for business creators. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

My wife signed up to make a funeral slideshow as she was grieving the loss of a grandparent. She signed up for what was advertised as a monthly 15 dollar a month cancel any time membership. Was fraudulently charged 180 for a recurring annual membership, immediately contacted company via email to rectify and they said too bad so sad! No number to call even. If you are looking to make semi-professional tutorials this tool is not right for you. I wouldn't even recommend it for personal use. I would expect a video editing tool to have clip editing capabilities beyond trimming and the pre-made templates to be editable with blocks to add/remove etc. The "watermark" is a joke that you can't even decide if you want it in the back or front. But if you don't use it on a pre-made template you cant add a picture to a corner...really poor technology and if you are willing to start from scratch using this tool or any other is the same. There are much better options (even free) out there. I ended up using for the clips themselves a free online specialized tool (I changed speeds and cut pieces from the middle of the video, added comments and graphs), for the full compilation I used the free version of their competition which had significantly more design options.

Finally, the customer service is horrible. I tried to cancel less than 12 hours into the membership and they wouldn't allow it due to the "no reimbursement policy". As we would say in Spanish "bread for today, hunger for tomorrow". I would never recommend this tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Animoto comes with an intutive UI that helps us to make videos easily for my marketing purposes. I have no prior experience in taking care of things like video editing. There are not a good number of templates where which you can select from. Some templates are not well organized in a way which editing can be done easily. Sometimes I just feel like that it has only limited features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love the fact there is a free plan option and it is extremely user-friendly. This allows those without extensive video editing experience/knowledge AND/OR those who are extremely busy covering many roles within an organization to create brief, professional looking videos for almost any business ranging from education to retail. I dislike that there doesn't seem to be any discount for paying annually instead of monthly. I also dislike that the only difference between the basic & $8/month plan is to remove the Animoto logo & add your own custom logo/branding. It seems like most cost-effective pricing option is the 3rd tier of $15/month.
