Well for a start when I signed up I had to wait and wait for some process ans then it never got back to me and told me for months that I couldn't do the work cos they weren't accepting new workers or something weird. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Mturk is a great survey platform that allows people to complete surveys that are posted onto their website. It is easy to gather research data through this way, and they often have lots of people submitting surveys for an incentive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Amazon Mechanical Turk?

I found that it was very easy (with the help of my PI) to submit surveys onto their platform and also download available data that was submitted. It is much more professional than other survey platforms out there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I do wish it was a bit easier to utilize the survey platform itself, such as when adding questions or other content onto the platform. I have found other survey platforms trickier, and less so than MTurk, but I wish they were a little more user-friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

MTurk makes it easy to submit research studies and collect data. It is with peace of mind that there will be HITs that people will have and submit their answers to each survey they find. "Cheap, Quick Method for Project Needs"

Describe the project or task Amazon Mechanical Turk helped with:

I was working on a project which involved the sharing of a referral code for website sign-ups. I needed ideally around 25 sign-ups; MTurk helped me achieve this. I paid each successful sign-up a sum of $0.18. The average time it took for a worker to complete the sign-up was only two minutes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Amazon Mechanical Turk?

The most helpful thing about MTurk is that the platform allows you to screen workers before they're allowed to accept the task. For instance, any worker that wished to accept my task had to meet the following criteria: location in US, annual income less than $30,000, frugal, and at least a 95% acceptance rate from previous tasks. This allows the requester on MTurk to weed out low-quality and/or unqualified workers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Mechanical Turk?

The only thing I disliked about MTurk was the large proportion of workers whose first language is not English. There is a strong presence of non-native English workers on the site. The quality of work for some of these workers is sub-par due to a poor understanding of English and the inability to accurately understand the task's instructions. If you are looking to get the most out of MTurk, you will want to request MWS Developer Keys. These will give you the ability to customize qualifiers, make your own templates, and try your tasks out before publishing them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Amazon Mechanical Turk solving and how is that benefiting you?

MTurk has provided a way for us to get almost immediate turnaround for simple tasks. We set the amount we are willing to pay per task (called HITs) which is often extremely cheap compared to hiring an individual/group. Sometimes the worker quality is low. Even with master qualification and limiting to those who had 99% previously approved hits, it does not usually help much in my opinion, In a study, my undergraduate students complete using 30 minutes and these Mturkers (master + highly experienced) only used 10mins+ , providing significantly shorter responses!
