I find that Adobe Media Encoder often takes longer to render a composition than After Effects, though sometimes it takes about the same amount of time. I use Adobe Media Encoder to convert video formats, extract audio, and compress audio and video. It’s my go-to because it’s extremely easy to use and has the functionality I need to encode and decode video and audio. I like the variety of codecs and being able to choose the format and codec I need, then set every parameter in detail. I can also drag and drop a video to encode it directly. It integrates great with After Effects and Premiere, and having it included in the Adobe Creative Suite is a big win. I wish Adobe Media Encoder had a web version so I wouldn't have to install it on my computer. When I'm working remotely, it would be great to access it through the cloud. The file type selection did not always reflect the correct file type required, for example converting to MPEG4 for changes to 3gp when you may think it should change to a standard mp4. (which awarding bodies may reject). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The interface is a bit confusing at first, but once you get used to it, it becomes a powerful, super-fast app for encoding. Like other Adobe applications, it’s also very easy to get in touch if you need support; even when it crashes, you still receive actual help.

The price is very accessible with the Creative Cloud suite.
