What customer support options does Adobe InDesign provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Adobe InDesign provides self-service help through a knowledge base and FAQs or forums. The support experience is mixed: online guidance and community resources help users find answers, while direct support can feel slow or unhelpful when an issue is difficult to resolve.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Adobe InDesign from another tool?

Moving to Adobe InDesign from tools such as QuarkXPress, Microsoft Publisher, Illustrator, and simpler design platforms has often been about gaining more control over detailed, multi-page layouts and print production. Users describe stronger typography and layout flexibility, better handling of long documents, and a more connected workflow with other Adobe applications; the transition can still involve learning new tools and habits.

Adobe InDesign offers 14 integrations. Its integrations connect page-layout work with creative applications, productivity tools, and asset or publishing workflows.

  • Productivity and collaboration: Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams.
  • Asset and publishing workflows: Canto, FlippingBook, OpenAsset, and Shred.ai.
These connections support moving images and graphics into layouts, working with PDFs, and sharing or managing assets across related workflows.

What features or capabilities could make Adobe InDesign even more useful?

Adobe InDesign could be more approachable for new users, smoother for team review, and more capable in a few production tasks. The most recurring improvement themes are:
  • Simpler onboarding and navigation: Make common tools and workflows easier to find and learn.
  • More reliable collaboration: Improve shared review and real-time teamwork on documents.
  • Stronger performance and stability: Reduce slowdowns and crashes when working with large, image-heavy files.
  • More capable creative and automation tools: Expand image-editing options and automate more layout and repetitive production work.

"Powerful Tool for Professional Marketing Material"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Adobe InDesign?

Adobe Illustrator is, for me, the best program for vector graphics and professional designs. The features are very extensive and offer almost unlimited possibilities for logos, illustrations, graphics, and print templates. Especially the precise tools and the good integration with other Adobe programs make daily work significantly easier. The learning curve is a bit steep at first, but you get a powerful software with professional results. Clear recommendation for anyone who works regularly with graphics. What do you dislike about Adobe InDesign?

The results with InDesign are very good, but I found the operation somewhat cumbersome at the beginning of my career. Many functions are hidden deep in menus, and especially with larger documents, there are occasional performance issues. As a private individual, I would also be bothered by Adobe's subscription-only model, as it involves ongoing costs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Manages Complex Layouts While Keeping Documents Consistent"
4/5
What do you like best about Adobe InDesign?

The main thing for me is its ability to manage complex layouts while maintaining consistency throughout the document. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe InDesign?

The software has a fairly steep learning curve, especially for beginners with little experience using professional design applications. At first, some features and tools can feel overwhelming, and it takes time and practice to become truly proficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Maximum Pixel Control with Built-In AI for Big-Picture Design"
5/5
What do you like best about Adobe InDesign?

It’s a fully fledged tool that gives you maximum control over every pixel, while also helping you create with the bigger idea in mind now that AI is built in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe InDesign?

It feels a bit outdated now, mainly because paper and print media usage has declined overall—even within the journalism space. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Highly Customizable Layouts Make Long-Form Text Look Professional"
5/5
What do you like best about Adobe InDesign?

I use Adobe InDesign to format projects with a lot of text and make booklets and long-form text look good and professional. I find it easy to manipulate, and I like how customizable it is, from page size to toolbars. I can change the toolbars to fit my needs. It pairs nicely with Illustrator and makes my work look more professional. I love the text-linking options, dropping pictures into boxes, and being able to format things with a button click. The initial setup was very easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to Learn, Novice-Friendly UI"
4/5
What do you like best about Adobe InDesign?

I find Adobe InDesign's user interface easy to use, which is the aspect I like the most. It's also an easy-to-learn program, making it accessible for novice designers like myself. Compared to Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign offers a much easier-to-navigate environment and has a lower barrier to entry, which simplifies graphic design for those who are new to the field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe InDesign?

Sometimes there are elements that just don't work as well, like things snapping when I don't want them to snap. There are also certain guardrails in place that can be annoying and some of the image placement frames were not as well thought out. They're easy to fix, but I would do things differently with that. What do you dislike about Adobe InDesign?

Sometimes it can be confusing to use certain tools. The learning curve is steep, and some features aren't as intuitive as they could be. I also find that managing links, fonts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The Tool I Use When Canva or PowerPoint Is Not Enough"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Adobe InDesign?

Adobe InDesign gives me the most control when I need marketing materials to look polished, professional, and brand-consistent. I use it most often for flyers, event collateral, signage, multi-page documents, and other print-ready pieces that need to feel more elevated than something built in PowerPoint or Canva.

The biggest value for me is the precision. Tools like master pages, paragraph styles, linked assets, grids, and exact image placement make it easier to keep everything consistent across multiple pages or different versions of the same piece. It definitely has a learning curve, but once you understand the workspace, it can save a lot of time and helps the final product look much more intentional.

I also like how well it connects with the rest of Adobe Creative Cloud. Being able to build or edit assets in Illustrator or Photoshop and then bring them into InDesign to finalize the layout makes the overall workflow much smoother. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe InDesign?

Adobe InDesign is a powerful tool, but it definitely comes with a learning curve. The interface can feel intimidating at first, especially if you are not using it every day or if you are switching back and forth between InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Some tools are not as intuitive as they could be, and even simple tasks can take a few extra steps until you figure out the right workflow.

I also find that linked files, packaging, and export settings can be frustrating when everything is not organized properly from the start. It is easy to end up with missing links, font issues, or PDF settings that require troubleshooting before a file is truly ready to share or send to print.

Overall, my biggest dislike is that InDesign is not always beginner-friendly. It is worth learning, but at times it can feel overly technical compared to faster drag-and-drop tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Print Design, but a Steep Learning Curve"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Adobe InDesign?

I can produce production-level quality items without the tedious work of trying to design them in Photoshop. I like how Adobe InDesign integrates well with Photoshop, and once I build a template, designing products is easy. I also like producing and converting items to vectors. The image outline feature lets me create vectors for large-size printing without compromising quality. Setup is easy with the cloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe InDesign?

Adobe InDesign is one of the most non-intuitive programs I have to use, and the learning curve is so steep. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Adobe InDesign: The Industry Standard for Professional Catalogs and Books"
5/5
What do you like best about Adobe InDesign?

To me Adobe InDesign is the industry standard for catalog and book building. While there is definitely a learning curve if you haven't used it before, it's absolutely worth learning how to use if you want to have professional catalogs or booklets made. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe InDesign?

The same thing with any Adobe software, it has a steep learning curve that takes awhile to get past. And even then you're always learning something new you can learn and get better with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Tool with a Learning Curve"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Adobe InDesign?

I like how Adobe InDesign allows me to create complex layouts and designs for various purposes like social media, email, yard signs, sandwich boards, and window clings. I appreciate the precision in alignment and the control over text and character styles. It's great for keeping everything aligned and professional-looking, especially in complex layouts. I also find that it enables me to create effective headers and design hierarchies that guide users' eyes. Additionally, I like that it integrates well with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe InDesign?

I find the interface confusing and complicated for new users. It has an old school interface that's not really keeping up with modern programs like Canva and Figma in terms of ease of use. Although it's easy for me, my students who are new to it find it hard to understand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
