## ACS Technologies Reviews
  ### 1. Terrible reporting

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2023

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

The only thing I can say is the help staff are very nice,

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

The program (which I inherited) has horrible reporting capabilities and even the techs can't figure out how to extract data

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Contribution reports for specific funds with addresses. This should be a simple query, yet nobody can get it to work.

  ### 2. Great tech support!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julia H. | Treasurer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2022

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

ACS Financials provides our parish with all the necessary features to maintain membership information, Accounts Payable, and financial statements.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

We are happy with the applications we utilize with ACS...nothing to dislike!

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ACS platforms have helped our parish reorganize and maintain our membership records.

  ### 3. Decent Platform, Could be more Intuitive & Reactive

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vita M. | Virtual Business Support/Executive Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2019

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

There are a lot of functions included with the software and report editing is decent if you have some experience with databases and understand how relational databases work.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

However, there are a lot of small things that could be done better that make it less efficient. Specifically, when posting payments or transactions to student accounts, the date does not default to the current date and requires an extra step of changing the date. You also cannot set a default due date for transactions so every transaction entered needs an action for posting date and an action for due date. Reports are also not always easy to run and very "touchy" about what selections are made and requires selections that do not seem intuitive.

**Recommendations to others considering ACS Technologies:**

Attend one of their conferences if possible. They provide a LOT of information and you are sure to learn about features you were not aware you had access to.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing billing for students. It is a step above hand writing bills each month for students.

  ### 4. Great for non profits

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lynnette J. | Human Resource Director and Bookkeeping, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2021

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

I personally use the financials, and it is great for nonprofit bookkeeping.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

Sometimes it moves slowly when going through the process

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it for bill pay, payroll, and other bookkeeping needs. Tracking bookkeeping needs is a great benefit.

  ### 5. ACS: Not an Intuitive System to Use

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2021

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

When we used ACS it was capable of collecting a wide variety of data. For instance, you could have primary addresses, secondary addresses, multiple different email address that you could rank in terms of preference of use, etc. There was a lot of information you could gather for the system.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

ACS was not intuitive to use in the slightest. It literally required taking classes to learn how to use it. When I would need to run reports to gather specific information, nearly every time I had to call ACS to ask them how to do so. The ability to run reports that could capture different types of data for different purposes was the most important thing for me to be able to do with a database and ACS was not good for that.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We no longer use ACS. We switched to a different system that is literally 1/8 of the cost of ACS and works a thousand times better.

  ### 6. Cumbersome, clunky, difficult to use

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2021

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

The one thing I liked the best was that the customer support people are friendly. The second is the different levels of permissions which is nice for groups of people who don’t need access to all the information.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

It’s actually a long list but here are some of the leading: cost, difficulty to use, cumbersome and clunky, not intuitive, add-ons, the length of time it takes to run reports, user interface, and the online giving platform looks terrible.

**Recommendations to others considering ACS Technologies:**

While I know of some organizations who continue to use, like and benefit from ACS, I’ve now been at two different organizations who have abandoned it. For the ease of use and detailed information we wanted to pull, it hasn’t suited our needs.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used it for both accounting and as a CRM. While it is a program that will do “everything” for accounting and customer relations, it does neither well.

  ### 7. A valuable product but cumbersome and expensive

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2021

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

ACS is a valuable tool as a church database and has a number of features including member info and attendance tracking. There is also an app you can use with it that all church members can use to look up phone numbers for other church members. I found this very helpful when we used the product.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

ACS is not very user friendly. The interface appears dated. I found it difficult to navigate for the tasks I needed. In my department, I actually used a different app to track attendance because of this.

**Recommendations to others considering ACS Technologies:**

Make sure to use a trial version to ensure that this is the right product for you.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was very helpful for tracking church attendance and looking up phone numbers for church members. It had an app associated with it that I used frequently to find contact information.

  ### 8. Comprehensive but dated, slow and complicated

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2019

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

What’s most helpful about ACS is having one platform to keep all of your church community’s data. You can create individual and family profiles and assign them to groups. You can also keep track of attendance and generate reports and statistics based on the data you enter.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

The software isn’t very intuitive though and a big complicated to navigate. If you have multiple employees imputing data this can lead to duplicate entries/files and if you don’t have full permissions it can be a bit hard to correct mistakes. Generating reports isn’t the easiest task either. The software just feels like it’s stuck in the 90’s in terms of aesthetic and ease of use.

**Recommendations to others considering ACS Technologies:**

Definitely worth a trial of it. It has met most of our needs but just isn’t very easy to use.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use ACS mostly to keep data on congregants and record attendance for our various activity groups like adult, youth groups. Our church is fairly large so a database like this is helpful and we haven’t found anything better out there.

  ### 9. Do not use ACS for Church Financial Software

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea H. | Financial Manager, Non-Profit Organization Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2018

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

The only thing I like is the customer support. The customer support is truly outstanding. They answer all of my questions and help me solve problems that I encounter or have accidentally created. There isn't anything else I would recommend.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

I dislike a lot of things about ACS. The worst part is the reports. The reporting features are truly horrible. No one understands the reports that are created. I have had to meet with every ministry leader to explain the meaning of the reports. It's incredibly confusing. When people give money, it shows up as a negative.

There are also six steps to just about everything. You find yourself just clicking enter a million times in order to get to the next screen. It's so frustrating.

**Recommendations to others considering ACS Technologies:**

I would consider something else over ACS. I think there are many different products that would meet needs better and be easier for people to understand. It's so confusing, and while the support is extremely helpful, it's not worth it. They need to revamp everything about ACS. It even looks old school. I don't think it's easy to use or helpful for our organization. I wish we had been able to switch to a new product sooner than we did. We are just now switching to something else.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not solving any problems. It does keep track of donor giving and your finances, but I still don't think it is worth it. I haven't discovered any benefits.

  ### 10. ACS Integrates Church Membership Profiles with Multiple Donation Features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2019

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

I've always like ACS because all parishioner profiles can be integrated and connected to a donation platform that keeps track of all real time expenses and income.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

It could use some upgrades to make it faster and more user friendly.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When a parishioner pledges to give a certain amount during one fiscal year, ACS tracks their actual donations to their submitted pledge. This helps us budget both realistically and with accountability.

  ### 11. Lots of options - Robust - Great customer service.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rob N. | Associate Pastor, Religious Institutions, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2018

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

I like how user friendly it has been for child check in. And their customer service has been great! They offer a lot of options and I hope we use it more. The directory is what I would like to have us utilize. I loved that they offered to send us to a training event.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

Our financial person had used Quickbooks for a number of years and felt like she could use quickbooks more. It would be nice to have a person stop by and help walk us through it. Technology is hard and so is change. We average about 300 people at our church on Sunday, so it gives you an idea of what we work with. The cost is also pretty high.

**Recommendations to others considering ACS Technologies:**

Consider a check out procedure for your child check in. Consider some field reps paid per visit, cheap. You might already have this, but it would help.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are checking our children in through ACS Technologies and we have tried to get the directory up and running. We also use that to report on giving. The financial person likes the giving reports even though her books she uses quick books.

  ### 12. ACS for churches

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2018

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

I primarily use the People Module: It's easy to load in information and to update. Customer service over the phone is very useful and helpful, kind, courteous. ACS has improved in leaps and bounds over the past few years, and I hope it will continue.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

For lack of a better word, I find it clunky to use. A user needs to go through multi steps to generate a simple attendance report. It's not entirely "intuitive". I can't usually figure out how to do something. If it's a new task, I usually need to call the help line. And, it just seems a little old-fashioned.

One of my biggest difficulties is not being able to easily convert a list into an Excel file. In some situations it works and in others it doesn't. And when it does work, it's "clunky" getting it done.

**Recommendations to others considering ACS Technologies:**

This is a company that seems to be on the upswing, so give it some consideration. Look very carefully to make sure it meets all your needs.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finances (which I don't handle at all); church member database; attendance reports; class lists; mailing lists and labels.

  ### 13. Realm Software Dies on Website Use

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2018

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

It is efficient and more intuitive than their previous offering of the City. It has the backend features that a cloud user would expect for finances and group management.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

Several critical errors. The website version of Realm is divided into two platforms: backend admin and community. Backend stays persistent and responsive even when you navigate away or do not use it for a while. The Community side dies if you move away and takes minutes, if ever, to load pages upon your return. You will notice this on Messages and Events (Community side) but not on Groups and Giving (Admin side). Realm tech support says this is a known issue and WILL NOT be resolved. This leaves the software fundamentally unusable throughout the day. If you can log out or clear your cache, you may get it to start back up but the problem WILL ALWAYS repeat itself. Being told that the problem is what it is – is terrible support and they should not market a product that does not function that they will not fix.

**Recommendations to others considering ACS Technologies:**

Ask them if you can use the product persistently on the web.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been communicating with ACS on the Realm issue but they have stated that there will be no fix.

  ### 14. Front desk receptionist, record keeping

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sharon L. | Receptionist , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2018

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

Nothing I can think of at this moment...

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

Too cumbersome to achieve what I need at this time

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Attempting to run reports, can’t think of any benefits

  ### 15. Lots of options

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2018

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

ACS has been developed with lots of options. You can do anything from database management to payroll to check-in

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

It takes a lot of training to get comfortable with ACs

**Recommendations to others considering ACS Technologies:**

They now have an extension called Realm. Every user friendly

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use ACS to do all of our check in and payroll it is great that everything is in one place

  ### 16. Easy to use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2018

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

We like that our information is easy to access across a variety of platforms. It's easy to find information with a variety of parameters.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

Can be glitchy. We have a lot of information in our database so sometimes the bulk of information is slow in loading.

**Recommendations to others considering ACS Technologies:**

Definitely move to the cloud- we have been using the on-site hosted version for longer than we ought to have. The process to move to the cloud has been underwhelming, but there's a lot of information to transfer. Overall, having information in the cloud makes this software much more appealing, as the on-site hosting only allowed for use with PCs and our staff has transitioned to Mac. The phone app is also a highly beneficial feature!

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ACS Technologies makes it easy to access our member information at our fingertips. We can easily look up basic information on our smart phones, or utilize the database in the cloud for more in depth details.

  ### 17. Cumbersome but effective

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2018

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

The database holds a lot of information and has the ability to track several components

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

The system is very cumbersome and not intuitive at all. It takes a lot
To learn how to properly run the reports to get the information that you need

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can track several different entities and parameters. It also has its own accounting system built in

  ### 18. Perfect for a large or small church communication platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nancy H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2018

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

The ease of use. The price. The convenience.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

The price of going to a conference to learn. I don't like on-line video learning and tend to try and just figure it out which slows me down.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

recording and reporting donations. communications between membership

  ### 19. Antiquated Church Software (ACS)

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian S. | Staff Pastor - Students, Religious Institutions, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2017

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

Our finance team members have found the accounting side of ACS to be the most helpful. Whereas, the staff members overseeing ministries have had difficulty making ACS work for their needs each week.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

To be honest, it has a learning curve that is difficult to overcome. While it's powerful in creating reports and getting your information, the difficulty lies in getting accurate reports and information. The interface is antiquated and difficult to understand, especially on an Apple based computer.

**Recommendations to others considering ACS Technologies:**

Determine what your core needs are when looking at church software as a whole. Is it primarily to have sign-ups, track attendance, help coordinate small groups? Or is it primarily for database entry and accounting?

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Again, our finance team has found use in the accounting side of ACS with accounts receivable and payable.

  ### 20. Lots of power, not as intuitive as it could be

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica S. | Secretary, Religious Institutions, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2017

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

You can do almost anything with ACS Church Management Software -- really and truly, it is robust and capable of so many things. The addition of the app to access information on the go has been a game changer for our church staff.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

The program is not as intuitive as it could be. If you do not have some training, there are things you will not be able to figure out. There is very robust documentation online, which is great. But it has been really difficult to me to teach any part of the system to other staff members who are not technically savvy.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We keep track of all our church members and lots of information about them, we keep our financial records, we use it for Child Check-in, etc.

  ### 21. Thorough...but maybe too big?

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** grant m. | Pastor to Students, Writing and Editing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2018

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

The range of options for servicing our members

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

The software is intimidating and hard to learn

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Locating members, updating members information, creating groups for contacting

  ### 22. ACS is the best!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lisa H. | Financial Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2017

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

Easy to use and warns you when months do not agree when posting.

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

There is nothing to dislike! The software is easy to use and tech support team is awesome if you have any questions or concerns.

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Capturing contributions online. If did not have product, folks may not give.

  ### 23. Good for attendance records

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2018

**What do you like best about ACS Technologies?**

Family profile information is extensive..

**What do you dislike about ACS Technologies?**

Outdated software. Often takes long to generate reports

**What problems is ACS Technologies solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Crashes often
Not compatible well with latest technology like iphones and ipads

  ### 24. Great database

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lindsay B. | Clinical Internship Supervisor and Counselor, Director of School Partnerships, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2017
