If you buy acronis cloud, then you will have to open lot off ports in your infrastructure to make it work. Some ports have to be opened in on prem acronis too. You can count on it to successfully backup your computer and count on it to be able to restore your data in the case of a drive failure, or other data loss. It has many options for configuring your backups. You can configure the backup schedule, configure precisely what to backup, or not backup, where to store the backups, how many generations of old backups to retain, etc. An important feature is the ability to configure notification emails so that it will notify you as to whether or not your backups have been completed successfully. **What do you dislike about Acronis True Image?** There are two main areas of frustration I find with the modern versions of Acronis. One issue is that they have been trying to turn it into some sort of anti-virus/anti-malware solution. For me, this is an unneeded and largely unwanted add-on. It often seems to conflict with other applications. It blocks applications from writing data in the middle of operation. It decides legitimate software is malware and tries to remove it or block it from running. It has extra background processes that run all the time to provide all these unwanted features. The other issue I have is with the error messages they produce. Any time Acronis fails, I get an email with dozens of lines of infomormation about the failure. However, for all the lines of information they produce, they really don't tell you what went wrong. For example, just a few days ago, my Acronis backup failed and produced one of these massive error reports. At the end of it, the conclusion was that it failed to access a file because of "access denied.'" Well, great. Which file was it denied access to? If I knew which file it was, I could investigate the problem myself. Would it be that difficult to include the name of the file in the many pages of error report detail? Unfortunately, this happens over and over with Acronis. Every time there is a backup failure, it sends a lengthy error report which never gives the important details, like the name of a file it has a problem with. **What problems is Acronis True Image solving and how is that benefiting you?** Acronis has, in the past, solved the problem of reliably backing up computers, providing the ability to recover in the event of a disk failure, malware attack, or other issue that results in data loss or operating system corruption. As anyone who has used a computer for any length of time knows, computers do develop problems. Disks fail. Operating systems sometimes get damaged by failed updates, or by malware attacks. Sometimes a user accidentally deletes some important files, or makes some changes to a file that result in data loss. Bad things happen, and it is important to have a good backup so you can quickly recover and get back to work. ### 14. I like to keep all of it readily accessible in case I need it without going through multiple hard drives or backups. Acronis True Image, now Cyber Protect Home Office, does this for me in a simple and reliable way. I like how it allows lets me to back up my 1TB+ of data in one fell swoop to an external USB 3.0 hard drive, which stores 3TB of data. I keep the backup as a single image, meaning that if I ever need to restore it, all of my data files, along with the operating system and installed applications, will be there. **What do you dislike about Acronis True Image?** The Acronis folks seem to struggle at times with the user interface. The design is not as simple as it could be, and because I don't use the software every day, I need to "relearn" it a bit with every use. They have tried to make it simpler and more automatic, but those efforts have fallen short. Still, the underlying feature set is solid and the software has always been reliable, **Recommendations to others considering Acronis True Image:** If it's important to you to have a local backup of your digital files, then this Acronis product is a fine choice. Although the company would like you to store your files in their cloud -- as is true with many competitive products -- you are not forced to do this and you can use a local hard drive or drives as I do. I recommend this product for reliable and fast local backup. **What problems is Acronis True Image solving and how is that benefiting you?** As mentioned, the user interface is not as straightforward as I would like. Acronis packs in a lot of functionality into this software, so much so that its primary usage -- computer backup -- is made more difficult to find in the UI's many layers. The benefits of reliabilty and speed make the software very valuable to me. The software backs up huge volumes of files far faster than I've seen in other products, including the tools built into Microsoft Windows 10 itself. I also like how Acronis bundles the ability to wipe a hard drive of all data traces securely. I've found this valuable on aging PCs that I've wanted to donate to charity or recycle. It's a better way to wipe and clean a disk than physically destroying the hard drive and is much more environmentally friendly. ### 15. They have yet to respond to support tickets regarding the overcharge which were submitted to their payment process in addition to 2 areas of their company support. After a few times of using it, the backups started taking an extremely long time (17 hours vs the initial 4 hours). After calling support, the technician ran a utility after I specifically asked him not to, but thankfully it did not do anything harmful. After deciding to no longer use their product due to it's bugs, I find myself in a position where I can not run it, the update fails and the uninstall fails. My only option now is to run a cleanup utility that they have which they use to repair whatever instabilities they introduced into my system. It is such a hack. They should release stable software instead of releasing it with bugs that can "hopefully" be corrected in their hacky cleanup utility. **Recommendations to others considering Acronis True Image:** Use a different product. In diagnosing the problem with activity monitor, I found some issues. The application made a HUGE tmp db (or 2) in /private/var/db. Around 140gb! So I removed the application & these dbs, and immediately my laptop is humming beautifully again. Maybe they have fixed this issue now. Likewise, the image creation process is excellent and versatile, it is done quite quickly which is an advantage when you are short on time. **What do you dislike about Acronis True Image?** The price is one of its major disadvantages, although for medium-large companies it might not be so costly to implement. It is also not the most expensive tool of this type, so it's a matter of evaluating each person's needs. **Recommendations to others considering Acronis True Image:** My biggest recommendation to any company evaluating this product as part of their implementation or integration is to thoroughly assess their needs, as it is not the cheapest product of its kind and, although it is easy to use and capable of performing each function effectively and quickly, the cost might be a bit high. **What problems is Acronis True Image solving and how is that benefiting you?** The greatest benefit I obtained was speed. The software has 30 days of free license to be able to do all the tests that you require. **What do you dislike about Acronis True Image?** If you want to restore an image on a new disk, it does not allow you to partition the hard disk, so you must do it manually. The software is available is different languages, which is fantastic because in my environment not everyone speaks English. The connection to the Cloud and the ability to perform encrypted copying add an additional point in the security and protection of my information. **What do you dislike about Acronis True Image?** In the Mac version (which is what I use), it did not allow me to unlock some options for a configuration of the same computer, try to go to the security center and give permission, however I had to continue the installation without this option, which for me has been cool since with what he offers I am satisfied. **Recommendations to others considering Acronis True Image:** This tool to avoid many headaches, always keep your information backed and encrypted.
