We were also using Miro for brainstorming, so the problem Whimsical helped solve was reducing licensing payments and not having to rely on multiple tools to get our work done. Whimsical is loaded with various features which I used to keep at different places randomly prior to this. Like for mind mapping, I used xmind but for flowcharts I used draw.io, lucidchart and even figma, but since I discovered whimsical, I loved how it provides these and various other features right out of the box. I am always on a lookout for centralizing so much of my thoughts, notes, diagrams and whimsical solves for it by giving all these features at one place. Its very easy to use and helps me keep my ideas and notes very visual. What i also love is the way it works in tandem with other tools - like notion where I can integrate it easily, and with chatgpt which has a plugin of whimsical and gives code to directly paste the sequence diagram from chatgpt to whimsical. **What do you dislike about Whimsical?** Not much as of now. I love the features it has and understand it can help in certain use cases for centralizing my thoughts and ideas. The best way to share the map or docs is to actually share the link via email. I wish there were a way to click and drag the area I want to PDF or print out on my printer. Whimsical allows me to get my ideas down for the design and engineering teams in a consistent way that is not a chicken-scratch design. Some of them are: 1. Flexibility - Whimsical is one of the most flexible tools I have ever seen. Except for the document files, you have an open canvas, and that's it. Being a student and a part-time community manager, I need an open canvas to draw out my ideas, a Kanban board to schedule them and a writer to expand them. Whimsical is flexible enough to offer all these elements under one roof. 2. Reduces overhead - As I said earlier, you get a whiteboard + document writer + kanban board + wireframes, all under a single product. 3. Performance - The performance is pretty impressive. Being a web app, I experienced no down times. I have been their customer for the past year, and the experience is fantastic. They even have a status page. 4. You can always 'star' essential files for easier access. It comes with a trash folder, which keeps track of deleted files, which is very helpful if you accidentally delete an important file. 6. UX/UI - The UX/UI feels exceptional. The transitions are smooth, the performance feels snappy, and the rounded design is pleasing to eyes. 7. Community and Support - Whimsical team have positioned itself well close to the community. You can find a lot of templates designed by the community. My experience with support was satisfactory. I got a reply for a simple query in less than 6 hours, which is impressive. **What do you dislike about Whimsical?** While Whimsical is close to perfect, it has some minor downsides: 1. Lack of dark mode - Seriously, we are in 2022. A dark mode is a must to prevent eye fatigue. Not a serious issue, almost all browsers support a forced dark mode, but we all need a native one. 2. Inconsistent performance - Sometimes, the performance gets finicky. Especially when you're on the canvas, it's easy to lose focus. And scrolling can be a hassle. I have three finger drag setup on Mac, but Whimsical does two fingers for drag and two fingers for zooming aswell, making it confusing. **What problems is Whimsical solving and how is that benefiting you?** Inter-team and intra-team collaboration while the product is in designing phases.
