"Essential Tool Delivering Consistent Value Across Departments"
What do you like best about AutoCAD?

As a tool that we have used for quite some time both for developing projects for third parties and for executing our own developments, it undoubtedly continues to provide us with the necessary value for both our Engineering department and the other technical departments within the organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AutoCAD?

When it comes to other CAD/BIM tools, there are particularities that apply to our case (development of industrial electrical/electronic equipment and systems). In certain cases, features such as automation for generating certain types of reports (cabling, bill of materials, among others) are more cumbersome in AutoCAD than in other platforms that are direct competitors. "The Drafting King: Unbeatable Precision And Speed For 2D Documentation"
What do you like best about AutoCAD?

What I like best is its status as the unwavering industry standard for 2D technical documentation, its accuracy, reliability, and precision are absolute - it is the digital ruler and compass for millions of architects, Engineers, and designers. The DWG file format is universally accepted, making collaboration with consultants, contractors, and suppliers seamless, regardless of their native CAD platform. What do you dislike about AutoCAD?

The primary point of frustration is the significant subscription cost combined with its resources-intensive performance on large files. While the software is powerful, it often requires high-end hardware and can notoriously slow to load or process complex drawings, leading to lost time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"AutoCAD: Precise, Lightweight, and Reliable—But Needs Better 3D Line Identification"
What do you like best about AutoCAD?

AutoCAD is the best, I was introduced to it in my university, and I have been using it for almost 18 years. It is my favorite drafting tool, because it is precise and its files are light and compatible with most architectural softwares. I like how I can control the quality of the documentation and printing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AutoCAD?

I don't think it can be defined as a dislike, but I guess sometimes this software can be easily misused. It's hard to identify 3D lines in 2D spaces. Per example some users use topographic info to draw a site plan, and this can generate errors. It would be amazing if 3D elements had a flag to identify them quickly. "Reliable Design Tool with a Learning Curve"
What do you like best about AutoCAD?

I use AutoCAD to create detailed 2D and basic 3D designs, which is essential for my engineering and architectural work. I find it enjoyable to use because of its many reliable tools, precision, and industry-wide acceptance. Its tools like layer management, precise dimensioning tools, block libraries, and command line controls are particularly reliable, helping to maintain accuracy, organize drawings, and speed up repetitive drawing tasks. Layer management helps me organize different elements like electrical, plumbing, and structural details separately, making edits easier, while precise dimensioning ensures accurate measurements. I also appreciate that AutoCAD has a wide acceptance within the industry and that it was fundamental in my education, being the first software I used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AutoCAD?

From my personal experience, AutoCAD can be resource-heavy and slow when working with large or complex drawings. The learning curve for advanced commands and customization, like the keyboard shortcuts, AutoLISP routines, and advanced layer filters, could be smoother for new users. The license activation part felt a bit complicated initially, but it was resolved with my college's help. Also, the custom settings took a bit of extra time for me. "User-Friendly, Customizable, and Perfect for Detailed Drawings"
What do you like best about AutoCAD?

Auto Cad is is easy to use and very user-friendly environment. I Do like the interface customisation options and layouts that can be branded with our own branding. floorplans, elevations, electrical drawing, ceiling drawing, false ceiling drawing. Once the drawing is properly detailed it can be very hassle free to execute it in the site as vendors and contractors can read it easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AutoCAD?

Only one thing I don't like in it is that the cost is too high Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Design Editing with Room for Command Improvement"
What do you like best about AutoCAD?

I appreciate AutoCAD for its ability to provide clarity in drawings and perfect measurements according to all standards. I like how easily I can edit and draw for our own requirements, and it also helps to reuse designs. The drawing and editing process is very simple for me, and if I make any mistakes in dimensions, I can quickly modify the drawing, which saves time. I also find it convenient to measure the dimensions of specific areas, like beam lengths, and mention them directly above in the design. There's a tool that lets me calculate the area of a particular section effortlessly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AutoCAD?

The commands should be more accessible for quick designs and modifications. Some commands involve multiple steps and aren't memorable, so they need improvement. I think a quick toolbar like a floating bar would help with that. Also, understanding the tools and commands was a bit difficult at the initial stage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Still useful for early sketches and coordination with CAD-based teams"
What do you like best about AutoCAD?

AutoCAD remains a reliable tool for quick drafting, especially in early design stages or when we need to produce simple linework fast. It’s also helpful when coordinating with consultants or contractors who haven’t transitioned to BIM and still require DWG files. I appreciate its precision and flexibility for 2D work — sometimes it’s just faster to sketch something out in AutoCAD before moving into Revit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AutoCAD?

For BIM workflows, AutoCAD is limited. It doesn’t offer the parametric or collaborative power of Revit, and working in 2D increases the risk of inconsistencies. Layer management can also get messy in larger files, and the lack of a central model means more manual coordination. We only use it where absolutely necessary, mainly for external coordination. "Accurate Drafting with Industry Standard"
What do you like best about AutoCAD?

I like AutoCAD's accuracy and flexibility, which make it very reliable for precise drafting and quick modifications. The use of layers helps keep my drawings well organized, making complex designs much more manageable. I really appreciate how widely AutoCAD is used across industries, which adds significant value to learning and applying the software for professional work. Additionally, there are plenty of learning resources and community support available, making it easier to solve problems and improve. The file compatibility and ease of sharing drawings with others are aspects I find very beneficial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AutoCAD?

One thing that could be improved in AutoCAD is that it has a steep learning curve for beginners, and it can feel overwhelming at first. The software also requires a fairly powerful system, which can cause performance issues on lower-end devices. Additionally, some advanced features are not very intuitive and take time to learn, which can slow down work initially. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AutoCAD?

In my experience so far, AutoCAD has been performing well and I haven't noticed any major shortcomings. It consistently delivers reliable results. However, I do find that working on 3D mechanical designs can sometimes be time-consuming, especially since many commands have to be entered manually, which can slow down the workflow. Additionally, I’ve noticed that it lacks advanced simulation and parametric features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
