# What is the most affordable MFA solution for SMBs?

Hey folks,

I’m in the middle of sorting out MFA options for our small but growing team, and honestly the pricing on some of these platforms is making me sweat. We don’t need enterprise-level bells and whistles, just something reliable, easy to roll out, and not going to drain the budget. Based on G2’s grid, here are some of the ones I’ve been digging into. Curious if anyone here has hands-on experience with these or suggestions on which delivers the best bang for the buck:

Google Authenticator: The OG, super simple, easy to use, but not sure how scalable it is for a team setup.

LastPass: Solid satisfaction ratings, but I’ve heard mixed things about pricing and recent security issues.

NordPass Business: Looks lightweight and SMB-friendly

Microsoft Entra ID: Feels like the best fit if already deep in the Microsoft ecosystem.

Cisco Duo: Pretty popular, but I’m worried it might lean enterprise in cost/complexity.

Descope: Newer name (at least for me), curious if anyone here has used it in production?

Keeper Password Manager: Seems more focused on password management, but does MFA too.

Kinde: Early-stage tool, but seeing a lot of good reviews, wondering if it’s stable enough for business-critical stuff.

Seeing a lot of folks also mention Okta and 1Password in other threads. Do you think they’re worth it for SMBs, or are we better sticking with the lighter, more affordable tools above? Would love to hear what’s worked (or hasn’t) for your teams.

Also curious, are there actually good free MFA options out there for SMBs? I know Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator are free, and Duo has a free tier (think up to 10 users), but wondering if those are realistic for business use or if you pretty much have to pay once you need backups, admin controls, and proper integrations.
